This place is so darn sexy. Perfect for a date night. Great atmosphere. The server dude with a yummy french accent chats to you about wines and the locally sourced snacks. You pick away at some awesome meats and cheeses and dippy things and pickles while you gaze fondly into each others eyes. I just can’t wait to go back.

Great place to go for a date or a girl’s night out. Came here with a few coworkers a few weeks ago. Lovely intimate atmosphere. This could either be the type of place to dress up to go to, or just go casual. They have a great wine selection and a small menu with appetizers, desserts, and of course charcuterie. The server we had was very knowledgable and helpful when deciding what to get. I ended up getting the charcuterie plate with gouda, goat cheese and peppercorn salami to split with friends. I also got the feta mac and cheese and the flight of wine which had 3 glasses. The charcuterie plate was the best I had in Halifax. The pear relish was my favorite part, the red pepper jelly was also amazing with the goat cheese. The peppercorn salami had a great kick and was great with the dijon mustard. The feta mac and cheese wasn’t so great… It could have used some more seasoning or salt or something, I would have liked to be able to taste the feta more, but the sundried tomato was the dominant flavor. I can’t remember exactly what I paid, but it was more than reasonable. Our server was charming and lovely. Would be a 5 star rating had that mac and cheese impressed me.

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. It was a weekday afternoon. I’d had lunch, but wanted to have a glass of wine, pop the laptop, and get an hour or two of work done. Walked past Obladee. Decided to give it a go. Found it charming, cosy, well-styled, warm, and interesting. I was quite happy to plop down on a stool at a long bench near the back. The server was also charming, and brought me a generous glass of the wine that I asked for. I got the wifi password and started to work. It was all so comfortable, and tasty, that I ended up staying longer than I planned. I had 3 glasses of wine, sampling from across the diverse menu. I had some olives and a small dessert for a snack. I was there long enough to hear their funky Christmas playlist loop. I was the only one in there at the start, as it was only about 2pm. Others trickled in. I’ll be back, and soon. Obladee is the perfect(for me) combination of stylish and relaxed, with interesting quality wines, good snacks, and a big-city atmosphere.

What an amazing experience!!! A large group of us were just at Obladee for a wine tasting. Not only were they very responsive via email, but they were very accommodating for us. We asked for something a little out of the ordinary and they nailed it. They restaurant itself is warm and inviting. The staff were all wonderful. The chocolate and cheeses that were chosen were perfect and the wine was amazing. Stephan, our host for the night is not only very charming, but very knowledgable. I HIGHLY suggest Obladee and it’s wonderful staff for a great evening out.

Great wine, excellent service. I came in on a sunny afternoon during the week when it was quite slow. The barkeep was a chatty young fellow who kept me entertained for the better part of an hour. My cheese sandwich was delicious and the owner recommended a wine for me that matched fabulously. A little pricey but hey, you pay a little extra for a little bit of fancy ;) I’ll be back! Also, give that boy a raise, he deserves it.

Amazing restaurant! Amazing service! The food is definitely small, so better if you aren’t too hungry! Really well worth it; I cannot wait to return.

Obladee is a lovely, quiet atmosphere, it’s very cozy place. It’s also not severely loud like most places in Halifax, so you can actually hear the people you’re with. Excellent wine selection and high quality(and delicious!) food. I only gave it four stars because the menu is overwhelming and difficult to read, we had a lot of questions to clarify. The staff were helpful and quick but not too in your face. Food is a little pricey for the portion size but like I said, it’s excellent and high quality so it’s worth it. I look forward to going back.

Jean runs a great charcuterie and wine bar. To start the service was as good as it gets — friendly, warm, smiling, informed and patient with new comers. Jean’s pairing suggestions were prrfect for everything we ordered. We had an outstanding charcuterie platter with duck prosciutto, juniper-thyme cured salmon, wonderful bread, fabulous wines and delicious desserts. To top it off, jazz started at 8p and made our candlelit evening a 5 star experience! Highly recommend!

Heard a lot of positive things about this place, even the outside is appealing! My friend and i went here on a Friday night. Lots of people there but we were still able to grab a seat. We were greeted and i explained this was our first time here. and our waitress didn’t explain a thing. Okay! Were on our own on this. We choice a wine and decided to go with the chocolate plate. Wine was served, very good! Could have been a little colder. The plate came 10 minutes later… wow. 7 $ for 3 little things of chocolate. We could have walked a block and got a huge desert for 10 $ each! Overall it was okay, i wouldn’t go out of my way to go back.

Tried just a bottle of pinot grigio here on the patio one day last summer after work, but we were on our way to dinner at another restaurant, so didn’t opt to try anything on the food menu at the time. After walking by it hundreds of times since, and smelling the delicious aromas wafting, decided to check it out on a sunny Friday in January for lunch. Not a large place. Benches with low«coffee/lounge» type tables to the right and left side of the doorway which would be fine for small groups to sit, probably with just wine and maybe split some appetizers. The rest of the place is set up in a bar style with high chairs along the bar itself, and along a wrought iron railway that runs the length of the restaurant(spiral staircase going downstairs behind the railing). Simple, modern décor. At my 11:50 arrival, there were only two customers sitting at the bar having coffee. Very friendly service. Delicious ‘Three Cheese & Leek sandwich(pressed. $ 8 grilled cheese of Emmental and aged cheddars with muscat caramelized leek on dried fruit bread. Served with a local Hardy Wares dill pickle and chipotle-tomato jam on the side… jam to spread on the sandwich, which I did, and enjoyed thoroughly). Very flavorful side of ‘Roasted Root Veg Salad’ $ 5…warmed, hearty roasted root vegetables(brussel sprouts, beets, carrots, spinach, kale), fresh herbs and feta tossed with a balsamic reduction vinaigrette.) Of course the suggested pairing finishes the meal off perfectly.(Planters Ridge Tidal Bay Port Williams, NS $ 9.) Just the right portion for lunch where I was satisfied without being too full. Will have to try dessert another time. Second visit: a drizzly April Friday after work. Took seats at the far end of the long table, while two women sat at the other end, and a few others were scattered near the front windows and back two-seater. Ordered a bottle of the L’Acadie Muscat($ 48) which I had already tried in the past and liked, and was fine this night. The ‘Build a Board’(Includes Pat’s Pickles, olives, organic Boulangerie La Vendéenne baguette(or crostini or gluten-free crisp) &2 condiments(ask your server)! was shared between my partner and myself and we loved it. Got the chevre(soft and tasty), olive oil & vinegar sampler(a chipotle oil with a basic vinaigrette), and the marcona almonds(sweet & lightly salted spanish skinless almonds, which actually looked like peanuts at first). We could’ve easily ordered another board of the same thing, but held back. The only downfall of this visit was that the toilet wouldn’t flush when I went in, and when I mentioned it, didn’t see anyone go in to try to fix it, so not sure if other customers were left without a flushing toilet or not. Definitely will be back and would like to try the smoked tofu sandwich with couscous salad. I was torn between what I ordered today and these items; so looking forward to being back for sure.

Went here for lunch with some colleagues on a limb. I was so happy with my meal I went back for lunch 3 more times in 2 weeks! Their choices are limited but that was part of the appeal. I liked that I didn’t have a million things to choose from. I had a ham sandwich which was absolutely delicious, and a roasted veg salad. I also tried another salad that had a chili flavoured sauce — it was yummy but way to spicy for my belly. Will have to go back in the evening, and sample some of their wines.

Obladee by Day — The lunch menu is a study in when you do things right, you don’t need to offer 99 different choices. Offering up 3 sandwich choices, 4 salads and a soup, simple is by no means boring. The flavour combinations were delicious and elegant. And hello, the best borscht I’ve ever had! Add to that a roasted root veg panini, with a nice South African red blend and you have just had a little taste of heaven, my friend.

We had the Pauillac and it was amazing. We have been searching all over NS for a decent wine and this place saved our palette. The charcuterie board with duck sausage was a great paring.

This place is a great date spot! Lots of selection and great atmosphere! Plus the service is top notch! If you love wine, and lots of it, you need to try this spot! There is a range fit for anyone and everyone, you can spend 10 $ and up depending on taste and preference! But every choice is awesome! The staff are here to help, as I am anything but knowledgable in the world of wine, other than I like to drink it, the staff help me hone in on what I’m looking for! They also have food which only compliments the wine, aka cheese and meat boards. The difference is that the cheese and meat selections are equally amazing. One of the best charcuterie boards in halifax! The only reason I have not given 5 stars is I feel the need to return and do more investigation… Which is really just an excuse to come back! So let’s go!

Great charcuterie boards, and an excellent wine selection. Topped off with a cool, cozy environment, this is one of my favourite weekend spots. Favourite white– the Gaspereau Muscat!

Oh Obladee! How can you not love a place devoted to delicious wine?! You can’t! At least, I can’t! I’ve only been to Obladee a few times, but each time I was not disappointed. The selection of wine is great — everything you could look for and more! Servers are knowledgeable and VERY helpful. When the options for our cheese/meat/pickle board were just a little too intimidating for our group, our server helped come up with a lovely mix that paired well with our wines. The service is simply awesome. One note is that this place gets BUSY, and FAST. Get there early, and snag a table quickly to ensure that you’ll have your preferred(or any) spot for the evening.

I love, love, LOVE Obladee! My favorite wine bar in Halifax, hands down! A friend and I came here one evening for wine, meat & cheese and I haven’t been able to stop raving about it since! The duck proscuitto was delicious and we sampled a flight of local red wines. Remarkable, friendly service as well. Can’t wait to return! 5-stars!

Obladee! Oblada! As a wine lover, but not a connoisseur, I’ve wanted to check out Obladee ever since it opened. Often walking by, seeing smiling faces sitting in their seats in front of the huge street view windows, sipping their wine, laughing, having such an awesome evening — I wanted that! Well, it took one of my best friends to quit her job and get another for me to go to Obladee, to celebrate! The space is smaller than you would expect, but they did a really good job optimizing each and every corner to make it not feel so congested. We lucked out and landed ourselves one of those awesome window seats! Our server, Stephan, was great! Super friendly, personable, attentive and knowledgeable! He recommended one of their wine flights. If you love wine, and love trying different or new kinds of wine this is a great option for you! A wine flight consists of three 2oz glasses of wine. You can get a red flight, white flight and a local flight(all Nova Scotian wine!) for $ 15.00! They had a special on Zinfandel when we were there for $ 12.00, so of course we all went with that! Each flight comes with a description of each type of wine you’re about to indulge in; Stephan also explained them all too us, so that was even better. Two of us are big charcuterie board fans, so of course we had to get one from here! Offering both vegan and vegetarian options, you have quite a few choices to build your board. We are neither vegan nor vegetarian… we choose the duck prosciutto(from Ratinaud French Cuisine) and the Andouille Sausage(from Sweet Williams) the board was also filled with fresh bread, pickles, beets, cheeses, mustards and jams! The duck prosciutto stole the show, it was so tasty! For a wine flight, 1⁄3 of a charcuterie board and a single glass of Malbec my bill was about $ 35.00(with tip!) See you again, soon, Obladee!

I am in love with Obladee! This is definitely a place to stop by, tourist or regular(or me, semi tourist!). I had a great time here and am so happy my sister suggested we check it out. There is a fabulous wine list, fabulous atmosphere, great service and delicious cheese! There is really nothing more I can ask for for a Saturday night destination. We arrived at just the right time and got one of the seats in the window, which apparently is the best seat available. They also have a small patio on the side, but it was a semi chilly night so our seat was ideal! We were greeted immediately by a really friendly server who spent a lot of the night chatting with us, and was very personable. The service was prompt but not overbearing. We ordered some wine flights, mine was a red and my sister enjoyed the«Nova Scotian» local flight — you’d think as the tourist I would have gotten this one, but I can’t resist red wine! We also both ordered a cheese and charcuterie plate, which was the perfect size for one(even though they recommended two for our group of three, but we were hungry!). The cheeses and meats were delicious, and the accompaniments were the perfect additions. I also love that they have the option of ordering matching cheeses to your flight! Overall the night was pricey but as an occasional destination, not over the top. If I lived in Halifax, I’d be a regular — but I’ll have to suffer and just come when I visit!
