On my mission to get rid of all the recyclables I went to Dave’s Bottle Exchange. This was Tuesday, well to my surprise, it was closed.
Nothing posted other than closed. I chalked it up to an extended holiday.
I am not sure, usually I do not call ahead for places like this, they are usually opened.
So, I had to take business elsewhere. Which was another story.

When is Dave’s open? The hours seem arbitrarily decided, like they just assume no more bottles could possibly come in that day, so they close up shop. I’m sure there’s a method to this opening and closing situation, but I’m not sure what it is.
A centrally located bottle exchange, good for visiting from all ends of town. I don’t often keep my empties and return them, but after the odd large gathering it can be fun. The workers are quick and if there’s no line, you can be in and out in a jiffy.
Last year, Andrew returned a ton of cans with an old roomie that they’d collected over a couple of years, and received about $ 100! Huge score. Moral: patience pays in the bottle exchange biz.

Knowing the Blackburn’s personally I used to frequent Daves Bottle exchange often to turn my bottles in for the few extra dollars. Phillip and Richard and sometimes you would have the pleasure of seeing their Dad and their beautiful mother in there on the occasional Saturday.
Over the years like everything times change and I often drive by and it is closed, hours are limited at this location so call before you go.
Back in the day this placed used to be lined up with cars and people as the liquor store was right down the street so when they were done they would bring it over and then go right back.

Back in my university residence days, places like Dave’s bottle exchange were a crucial component of cleaning out the place.
I’ve headed to Dave’s a couple times to exchange bottles and it’s really a pretty painless process. minus the whole limes being stuck in corona bottles problem… yeah, bottle depots don’t like that.
Definitely head to Dave’s after a party or get together with a few friends to haul the bottles in. You get money back AND beer bottles get cleaned and reused up to 17 times before being recycled so that’s a nice added bonus too.
