I went here after a lovely drive in Grimsby beaches area with my daughter and husband Atmosphere– Classic pub. Lots of wood and red coloured velvet seating. Very welcoming. Food– We had the following: 1) Veggie cheese burger and sweet potato fries– Burger was good. My daughter especially liked the bun. soft and not too big for the burger. Sweet potato fries were hot, crunchy and there were plenty of them to share with the aoli dip(yum). 2) haddock and chips– special of the day. My husband said it was one of the best pieces of fish he has eaten. chips were good too. 3) Steak spinach salad– I asked for the maple walnuts to not be included(only because i do not like walnuts) and the result was fantastic. The nice light dressing went well with the cranberries and caramelized onions as well as the eta(I substituted blue cheese for feta) I loved this salad and I would order it again if I am to return.(My daughter has already planned another visit so i suspect I will be back.) 5) The dessert I shared was the brownie(minus the walnuts) — The taste was good but the bottom had a slight burned taste to it. They should have made another pan rather than serve this one with lots of ice cream, It did not hide the burn taste. My husband said walnuts would have made the dish taste better but I just do not like the way the nut overpowers flavours of any dessert for me. Impression– I will be back for the salad. I wish they offered another nut in substitution but when i asked I was told no. My daughter loved the burger so i know we will be back soon. It is hard finding a place with an outstanding vegie burger. So i ha I have been told. I tend not to order them.

Went here on a Friday night with girlfriends. It’s a nice pub with a separate dining room but you can eat wherever you choose. We ordered a slice of fried mozzarella which was delicious and is just like mozzarella sticks but a thick piece instead, fried calamari, pub chips and these amazing button mushrooms in a wine sauce with garlic bread. After resting for a bit we ordered again this time fish & chips, a nacho platter covered in chili and mini Yorkshire puddings stuffed with shaved roast beef and a creole dressing. The waitress was fantastic & even cautioned us out of ordering two nacho platters saying that four people probably couldn’t finish one as they are quite large. She was right, the biggest nacho platter I’ve ever seen, the picture doesn’t do it any justice. We had reservations so no wait but it was quite busy so if you have a large party you should call ahead. Would definitely go back and I’ve already recommended to many people!

Amazing, friendly service. Always good food. I literally leave the town I live in and travel away from closer pubs in favor of this place. They tend to close too early but the grilled cheese is out of this world.

Excellent food. Usually come on half-price wing night but have also had the burgers. The fries are also quite good. We really do come for the wings though — large, well deep-friend, and about 6 per order. The Jester sauce is the best. Staff is always friendly and efficient. Rolling rock specials on wing night as well. Authentic pub atmosphere — would like to try this place on a game night or trivia night(Tuesdays). Sometimes the seating can be a little cramped but I think that adds to the atmosphere. My rating is 4 stars because I find the menu a little pricey.

This English Pub & Restaurant is an exceptional place to enjoy fine English food. From the front to the back, the furnishings and mood is great, and the bar isn’t overly dominating or garish. The restaurant is never dirty or grimy, the kitchen staff are experts, and the waiters are always friendly and efficient. The only reason this restaurant doesn’t get 5 stars is because it’s a little pricey.

If I were just reviewing the sweet potato fries with the curry mayo and the quality of service, my rating would be five stars. The sweet potato fries are some of the best I have ever had. Let me get crazy here: the sweet potato fries are the best ever. EVER. They have a medium-thick cut. They’re crispy yet soft on the inside(this is incredibly hard to do with sweet potato fries). They are just unbelievable. The curry mayo is seriously addictive. I could put that stuff on week-old bread and eat it happily. So why isn’t this a five-star review? The burger, man. The burger let down the rest of the meal. The bun, an often overlooked component of a proper burger, was dense and bready. Sort of like an amalgam of challah bread and a pretzel bun, but a really stiff and firm version of both of those. A burger bun should be soft. Just barely substantial enough not to fall apart while eating the burger. This bun could have withstood gale-force winds and a torrential downpour. Also, the burger patty had a great beefy flavour, but the grind was too fine and the meat was too tightly packed. This resulted in a patty that was just as dense as the unfortunately dense bun. It was also slightly overcooked. This burger let down these amazing fries big time. To improve the burger, I would suggest: a softer bun(perhaps a potato roll), a coarser grind, looser pack, and less time on the grill. Don’t change anything about the flavour of the patty because that was good.

This pub is such a shame; it could be so good! It is lovely and cosy inside, but unfortunately their selection of beer is uninspired and expensive, as is the food. With a decent kitchen, some imagination, and some of the wonderful craft beer Ontario offers, this place could be great! The staff is very friendly and efficient.

The one item on their menu that appears to be vegetarian, the«Bombay Curry — a unique blend of vegetables tossed in our house curry sauce, served on a bed of rice or fries» actually contains chicken stock, both in the rice and in the sauce. If I hadn’t asked, there would be no way to know. Not a single vegetarian item(sandwich or veg burger even). And no I don’t count lame salads as a veg option. I see that a veggie burger is listed as a tuesday special on their online menu, but it is not on their paper menu nor was I offered this as an option. I ended up eating a side and sweat potato fries(you don’t get a lot for $ 5 either) My friends had the muscle special which were not good at all and consequently we were not charged for it. We also believe that the chicken pot pie was frozen. Disappointing.

Pretty good food and drink. It is nothing out of ordinary but good considering the choice we have in the area. I didn’t find that many options for draft and they don’t have too many local beer or cider. Server was super nice and that would be why I would go back.
