5 pin bowling was invented in Toronto in the early 20th century for the well to do whose wrists became fatigued after 10 pin bowling. The balls are significantly smaller and there are 5 pins worth between 2 and 5 points. At first I was hesitant about going to Carroll’s, from Street View it looked like it was the basement of a house which made me feel slightly apprehensive because I have watched too many Lifetime movies. It seems sketchy but I assure you that I was not murdered and it is actually a cute little bowling alley. They serve Molson and Bud Light on tap, have candy and other snacks as well. We went on a weekend evening and shoe rental was free, each game was $ 4 per person, you have to keep score on a sheet yourself but it isn’t hard. There is also a Jukebox. There is a really nice gentleman who has been working there for 35 years but the place has been there since 1938 who is helpful.
