My perpetual cravings for kimchee lead me to seek out Korean restaurants in my area. We decided to check out Took Bae Ki because our regular spot, Taste of Korea, was closed. The restaurant is tucked away behind a strip mall, just off Dundas West. There were a few parking spots in front, as well as plenty of parking at the bank across the street. We were seated and given menus right away. The menu offered both Korean and Japanese fare. We decided to stick to Korean and ordered the bim bim bap($ 9.95) and the bulgogi beef($ 11.95). They brought us the traditional 5 side dishes and a small pot of tea. Our food came super quick. The bulgogi beef was still sizzling on the iron shaped cow platter and the bim bim bap came in a hot stone bowl, which was nice because the food remained warm to the end. The beef came with a side of purple rice, which I had never tried before but rather enjoyed. Portion sizes were large. I had rice and beef leftovers to take home. Service was friendly, no problems there. Not a bad spot for Korean food in the West end. Can be a bit out of the way if you don’t live in this area.
