Absolutely awful! Please don’t make the mistake of ordering their fish tacos. Waited an hour for our food and it was all luke warm at best. The fish tasted like oil and that was it. Just don’t even bother wasting your time with this place.

Now living in Toronto, one of the things I miss the most about Western Canada is White Spot. Thankfully, work sometimes takes me close to this location where I dine every time I’m in the area. White Spot is so many good things. It’s very reasonably priced, the food is always terrific and the quality is excellent. Though I always get a hamburger, I’ve brought co-workers who have tried various other items and everything I have sampled has been great. I would always suggest you get a burger because they are essentially famous for them. This particular location is rarely busy(at least when I go), which means you always have attentive staff helping you. Most recently, we had the service manager taking care of us and he was amazing. Overall, this place is always reliable and always great. I see some mixed reviews on the service here — I’ve never had a problem and will continue to come here every time I’m in the area. Thank you for the excellent consistency White Spot!

We went here 2 times for breakfast while staying at the 4 Points Sheraton in Edmonton. It was quite busy but the servers were quick, attentive and went out of their way to accommodate our toddler. When he was having a meltdown on arrival the second day they quickly brought out some fruit which settled him right down. Additionally the kids meals are served in a big pirate ship with a gold(chocolate) treat… big win for the little one. We tried the eggs Benedict and spinach and Portobello omelettes which were both delicious. Would definitely go back again.

You can’t go wrong with White Spot, and this location at the Four Points by Sheraton brings the familiar comfort foods and White Spot experience right at the convenience of a travel hotel not far from the airport. The servers are friendly and attentive except if you go after 9:30pm where they are juggling cleaning and getting ready to close the restaurant. If you forget about that, the comfort of a superior breakfast menu or their traditional red clam chowder soup accompanied by The Spot salad with chargrilled Chicken breast are always consistent and tasty. If staying at the Four Points or you are in the area, give them a go for consistent White Spot fare; yes!

We love the sweet angel that works at the bar. He’s so lovely and anticipates your needs. His name is Rob we believe and he smells lovely. Just the best service.

Well despite the previous reviews stating slow or poor service, I thought I’d give this place a try. They were right. I don’t necessarily fault the floor staff for the slow service, it really just seems as if there’s no direction or oversight. After waiting about 5 minutes as the only patron at the counter just to be greeted, I figured I was in for a long experience in this restaurant. I assumed there was a hostess because as I walked in I saw her seat the couple who was waiting before me. She never returned. It’s almost as if she was ephemeral — a mere figment of my imagination. After finally being seated, it was about another 5 minutes to take a drink order, 5 more minutes to have the drink delivered by the hostess who I thought was non-existent, and then a stunning 10 minute wait for my waitress to return to take my order! The restaurant wasn’t packed by any means. The food actually came relatively quickly. But was rather disappointing. I ordered the brunch with eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes and waffle. It’s a good thing they put salt and pepper on the tables because they certainly don’t put it in their food. Everything tasted flat. As for temperature, every item seemed to have its own. The eggs were the only hot thing on the plate. The waffle was warm and the syrup was cold! Potatoes? Room temperature. The bacon was one massive lump of greasy, floppy meat. A far, FAR cry from the«crispy» that was advertised on the menu. The sausage links didn’t fare much better in terms of flavor. All-in-all, a disappointingly sad meal. At no time during the meal was I checked on. There was never a «how is everything?», even as the plate was being removed from in front of me. It pains me to say, but I can’t wait for Denny’s to open at the Sandman, and save me next time from the sorrow that I would undoubtedly experience again at The White Spot.

A horror show. We stopped in on our way home from Red Deer thinking it’d be a nice place to bring the kids. Seventy dollars and two hours later, we couldn’t wait to never return. The service was good; a cheerful, peppy young waitress. The food, however… Hopelessly bland, ludicrously expensive, and it. Took. Forever. I have no problem with food that takes awhile to cook if it’s good food, but I suspect this took forever to arrive because it needed to be heated up. Or reheated. Awful. Finally, as we were trying to pay our ludicrous bill, the manager stepped in and started passively-aggressively berating the(very nice, very efficient) waitress for making us wait. Tacky and off-putting. I won’t return and I strongly encourage you to be smarter than I: don’t come in the first place.

We were seated quickly for breakfast on a busy Saturday and our waitress was friendly and great. The coffee wasn’t great but the waffle arrived hot and crispy which was exactly what I wanted

I stayed at the Four Point which this White Spot was attached to. When I walked into the restaurant, the hostess simply said to me: «I literally don’t know where to put you.» I looked around the restaurant, it wasn’t even full. The service and the food were okay not wow. The experience merits a 2 star and nothing more.

I had a remarkable experience at this particular white spot. Robert who was my bartender was exactly what I wanted to see at this restaurant. He was more than kind, very informative and had insight into the meal I had chosen. I recommend this place solely on his efforts.

Been here many times. Not the same as the ones at home in BC. Tonight must of been an off night. Over an hour to get our food, which was just 2 burgers. A table beside us came in 30 minutes after we did and received their food 2 minutes after us. Waitress seemed a bit frazzled. Refills were slow. Generally when I go here service and food are much better.

This White Spot is located inside the Four Point Sheraton Hotel on the edge of South Edmonton so the clientele include a lot of travellers like us. The White Spot experience is generally A-OK. You never come away disappointed nor are you wowed by the experience. It is what it is and you can generally depend on a consistent experience location by location. The Good — The service started slow but in the end it was great. Probably the redeeming quality was our hilarious server. She was straight out of a comedy sit-com and could probably star in her own TV show — for real. The Not Bad — We ordered a couple different salads, eggs benedict, an appetizer and a burger. The proportions were good, the food was filling, and our taste-buds were satisfied. The price was reasonable too. The Bad — That said, we had to send back some food as it was left under a heat lamp far too long and we had to wait for replacements. The coffee could taste better as it is barely a step up from a standard coffee brewer. Please look into this! The Ugly — They offer a single shared bathroom that was horribly dirty and smelled like something I do not want to mention here. Have you ever seen a work-camp trailer bathroom? Sure there are extra bathrooms in the Sandman Hotel side but seriously — one bathroom? There was a short line to get in the bathroom and no one seemed to notice the tiny obscure sign off to the right indicating there were other options in the hotel side but no directions on where to go from there. We are White Spot diners when we travel around Canada and we have always come to depend on them especially when the other options are not familiar to us. They are like an old friend. ;)

The staff is very strange and eclectic… And the atmosphere felt a little off when we walked in… But the food is fairly good and the beer jugs are cheap for a lot of beer. It is quiet in the lounge, no kids. Many hotel visitors sitting alone getting a bite to eat.

A BC tradition! As far as I know this is the only Whitespot in Edmonton. We went in the evening after dropping someone off at the airport. We didn’t have to wait to be seated. The hostess took us to our seat immediately and took our drink order. The waitress was really fast and friendly asking if we needed ketchup or vinegar. I ordered the salmon burger and was quite impressed by the speed the food was made and how good it was. I also ordered the cheesecake for dessert and it was quite good. Th atmosphere was pretty modern and they have free wifi!(For 90 minutes) I’ll definitely return again!

At a training event at the hotel this restaurant is attached to, I was car-less for the day and was initially pretty bummed that this was my only option for both breakfast and lunch. How naïve I was. For breakfast I had the waffles and bacon and a side of fruit. It was sooooooooooo good. I couldn’t get through it all, and even though I’m not really a breakfast person I made an enthusiastic attempt. At lunchtime I tried the Chicken pot pie which was also to die for. The service was great both times. At lunchtime, even though our course overwhelmed the place, they had us all out in a reasonable amount of time. I can’t imagine this place would be easy to get to if you weren’t already at the hotel, but I think it’d be worth it.

Overwhelming feeling within five minutes of sitting down: This place is terribly managed. I sat down at the bar while the bartender, Fiona, was running around right in front of me. I was not greeted or asked if I wanted a drink for 10+ minutes. Hardly her fault though, as it appeared that she was waitressing and bussing the entire restaurant alone. Once she finally had time to speak to me, she was very friendly and I had no problems getting my order in. The fellow next to me however, who had been there long before I got there, was unable to order his food for another ten minutes while the poor bartender was running around the lounge area and in and out of the kitchen. If I were her, I’d find another job pronto because she obviously has zero support. I watched another guest sit down without greeting or drink for 15 minutes as well. Anyhow…to food. I ordered the halibut and shrimp risotto with arugula(18.99). About a 20 minute wait or so. She brought my food out with the gentleman’s food next to me(who ordered a whole lot later), and mine had obviously been sitting for a long time. The risotto was congealed on the plate and the arugula, which had obviously just been dumped on top, was wilted and sad looking. There were four shrimp with tails on. The halibut portion was a chunk the size of a golf ball and very very heavily seasoned with Cajun spices(and I love Cajun normally), which always scares me into thinking I was maybe not eating the freshest fish ever. I was starving after a long day at work however, so with some stirring was able to get some heat from the bottom to the rest of the dish and then inhale my food without really tasting it. I was still pretty hungry so ordered a mini brownie for dessert. Fiona took care of this promptly, though note to the kitchen: don’t put ice cream on a warm plate until it’s about to be served. It will melt. Fiona also got my check and cashed me out very quickly. I still tipped well because there’s no way she can be making any money in that place. And even if she is, it can’t be worth the stress. And then the worst happened. I’ve included a picture. Throughout the meal I thought I saw movement in the air around my plate or fork, but when I would focus, it would be gone. I wasn’t sure if it was just exhaustion kicking in until I leaned forward to grab my drink and glimpsed the soup bowl located directly under the taps on top of the drain — filled with a brownish liquid and the decaying corpses of about a hundred fruit flies. Gross gross gross. I’ve lived in tropical climates, so I understand that you can have the occasional fruit fly infestation and you have to use an old vinegar bottle with sugar or similar to trap these things. But this is a bar/restaurant, and that nasty bowl is located directly on the counter where you’re pulling taps and serving food. It’s also very near where some cut fruit was located, so drawing them close to that is probably just providing a buffet for at least half of your bug population and encouraging them to reproduce. I just wish I had seen that BEFORE I had ordered and eaten my food…

Service is good but if it is busy they seem to crater. This night hardly anyone in the place so no problem. White Spot is no longer the amazing burger place I recall as a kid growing up in Vancouver. I was in Victoria last week and had a beer and a burger there(YYJ) and the whole experience was miserable(good note: crappy meal was comped), but I digress. This is the third time I have been in the lounge side here and the best thing going is reasonble beer prices especially at happy hour. Chicken caesar salad was alright but the chicken breast was tiny — not great for $ 13. Forget the shrimp gyoza even at happy hour $ 6. Cold and likely microwaved. Hoisin wings were good. The bacon chedder chicken burger was ok.

Coming from the YEG airport after a long day of travel, we stopped for a late lunch at White Spot because the not-yet-fussy toddler in the backseat, who had been pulled out of bed at 5:30am and hadn’t napped on any flights, was asking for a grilled cheese sandwich, and we thought a typical North American chain should provide that and thus help us avoid a meltdown on our drive home. My only previous experience with a White Spot was with a Triple O’s burger location, so I was a bit surprised to find this White Spot as a wait-service establishment. Our waiter was attentive and very helpful. He understood our request to have the kiddo’s meal come out right away. In addition to the grilled cheese, which was like any grilled cheese on any kids menu(only they kindly gave us the option of sliced apples instead of fries!), we also had the veggie burger and a curried quinoa dish. The veggie burger was decent, and I appreciate that White Spot didn’t assume that vegetarians don’t like taste, texture, or fun toppings(I’m looking at you Deluxe Burger!). The burger was prepared with lots of melted cheese and yummy portobella mushrooms. The quinoa dish was the most interesting thing we had. The red curry sauce had tomatoes and grapes and provided a tasty, inspired flavour combination. It was a surprising dish to find at a chain restaurant. If you ever find yourself needing to go to a North American restaurant because your non-adventurous in-laws are in town and they want to go out for a boring, uninteresting chain-quality meal, head to White Spot. It’s better than other places of it’s kind. And the quinoa dish is certainly interesting.

Waitresses are gorgeous Asian women. Now that that’s out of the way — –do not order the seafood chowder unless you are in the small minority of people who enjoy Manhattan chowder. It’s made with a tomato base unlike the more popular New England/Maine Chowder(cream based). –for the eggs benny, bacon can be subbed for tomato or spinach(or both) but this is not stated anywhere on the menu. –if you’re brown, do not order the tandoori salad. It’s as tandoori as Condoleeza Rice. Random fact: this is one of the best managed businesses in Canada. Who woulda thunk.

I had a great experience at this restaurant last week. I’ve always been a fan of White Spot and was sad when the Calgary Trail location shut down a couple years ago. I always forget that this new location is open so this was my first chance to try it. Our waitress, Keltey, was really great. In conversation, she mentioned that she was new, but if she hadn’t have said that, I don’t think we would have guessed. she was attentive and kind. She won major points at the end of the meal — My mom had finished her meal and was about to eat her last scoop of mashed potatoes. when we noticed a bug walking around on them. It was a small, fruit fly type thing — there had been a few of them flying around the restaurant. Keltey just happened to walk up to check on us right then and saw my mom’s disgusted look on her face. Keltey immediately took the plate away and said she would be right back. She reappeared in about 3 minutes and said that my mom’s meal was on the house. I thought that was really a nice gesture — she had eaten the entire meal except for that one last bite and we had had absolutely no complaints up until then. If they can work on their cleanliness so that the bugs aren’t there in the first place, we will definitely be back.
