I was at The Three Amigoes last night for supper with one of my girlfriends. She sas seated prior to my arrival, after I sat down we waited over 10 minutes for the server(the only one working) to acknowledge us. I had water, my friend ordered ice tea. Another 10 minutes past before our drinks were brought out. My friends«ice tea» was a bottle of Nestea half ice tea half lemonade-for $ 3.50! Although our server was pleasant the service was so slow. There were 5 tables total including us-as a former server this seems unacceptable. As for the food. We were given complimentary nachos and salsa(super bland). We both had entrees-she had beef tacos and I had something I cannot pronounce but it seemed like two mini chicken burritos-both dishes were served with«retried beans» which seemed like puréed baby food and rich which was extremely buttery. In general the food was bland and the portions were very small. The best part of the meal was dessert. I had a pineapple empanadas for 6.99-again, it was small but at least it tasted good. I wouldn’t go back and I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends.

We tried this restaurant for the first time, but waited over 35 minutes for our food after ordering and had to leave for another commitment. We saw another table that arrived after us get their food, eat their food, get the cheque, and pay, while we were still waiting. Our drinks had run out for 15 minutes before we were finally able to wave our server down to tell her we had to leave. Don’t go here if you expect reasonable service. I cannot comment on the food, because we never got any! We were left starving and in a hurry. We will never go back.

I’m not a fan of the downtown location, and I’m not a fan of this place either. The group I was with seemed to be okay with it. I personally won’t be back. Someone ordered«Chillaqiles»… some kind of soggy nachos. They looked unappetizing. I ordered the tequila lime chicken tacos. They were also not very great. The tortilla shells were very dry, and so was the chicken. It came with a tablespoon of guacamole and the server didn’t come back soon enough for me to ask for more. Luckily someone else at my table didn’t want theirs. The décor is great… very festive and fun. And they have live music on the weekends. Unfortunately, the food didn’t cut it for me.

This place is in a strip mall in south Edmonton. It has a nice authentic Mexican cantina feel inside and one can spend a lot of time just enjoying the decorations and the atmosphere. It was decorated for Day of the dead when we were there. Casual dining. The waitresses were very pleasant. Drinks are good but expensive. The food is average. Portions are small for what you pay for. Rice and beans are cheap so I don’t know why they skimp, maybe to get you to buy desert, which will add another $ 8 to $ 10 to the bill. They have an extensive desert menu. The meals could also be dressed up with some garnish. I liked the Mexican rice. My burritos were tasty with real chicken but small… one should get 3 instead of 2. The huevos rancheros were better at The Local restaurant. The complimentary tortilla chips were overcooked. Some seating has a cold draft from the ceiling, for you ectotherms. Overall a nice place for a meal, but if you are hungry get a large entrée or add an appetizer.

Cute little spot for Mexican food. We went in not expecting much(my husband is from Mexico so it had big shoes to fill) but it didn’t disappoint. A little high in price(but then again… so is all food when compared to Mexico) but it tasted yummy and got rid of our late night taco craving. A one-man mariachi ‘band’ performed the entire night and he mashed up Mexican tunes with English songs… pretty neat! All in all, a satisfActory night!

the three amigos is decorated with mexican-themed garlands and cactus-shaped confetti. the inside is very quiet, because you should spend time thinking about which salsa you would like. there are nine different types. the food is authentic. sometimes, you will wonder if you recognize the song that is playing, but you will understand before long that you recognize none of the music. you will want to come back: half to take pictures of the décor, and half to eat the food again.

Food was not too bad — quite authentic, but lacking a real punch. Prices a little high maybe for what it is. More of an issue though — is they don’t turn the heat on very high(even after asking them) — and you might be fully freezing during the whole meal.

Had a Mexican friend recommend this place and it did not disappoint. Admittedly my first impression walking in was that they did everything to scream«we are a Mexican restaurant in case you have any doubt!» This includes a luchador mask wearing manikin staring at you when you walk in. However, this may be an attempt to bring some of Mexico to Edmonton and I got used to it … though I still didn’t like the way the manikin was looking at me. We might have to work it out in the ring some day. Ordered the enchilada with green sauce. Came with mexi rice and black beans. Delicious. The spice heat was perfect. Decent size as it came with three enchiladas. Though a little pricey at 15 $. All in all, I loved the atmosphere, food and it features one of the most attractive looking severs in Edmonton. I’m sold. Now a fan!

We dropped into Three Amigos for some lunch. I had heard good things so was glad to finally give it a try. The décor is a bit over the top and the music was a bit too loud for a lunch crowd. I’m not sure if it was an ‘Off day”, the help wanted sign in the window or that we ordered poorly, but wow what terrible food. I ordered the Chicken Enchiladas and my partner had Chilaquiles. My meal was surprisingly bland– plain chicken with no spice or flavor wrapped in tortilla, and as they were out of the Mole Poblano sauce I got green salsa on top, and that’s all. I wondered if hospital food would be like this on a Mexican themed night. My partner’s Chilaquiles were chips, the same bland(boiled?) chicken all floating in a clear broth. We tried to enjoy it but eventually left about 80% of the meals. The waitress asked if we wanted to take it home but it just wasn’t worth it. We said it wasn’t that great and she told someone who took the cheaper meal off our bill. I really wanted to like this place as I really enjoy food in Mexico, especially the little cantinas; but I can’t see going back here again.

I’ve driven by this place a thousand times and thought it was just a quick fast food joint. This weekend, we were at the Duggan mall and decided to try it — boy, were we pleasantly surprised. The place is much larger inside than you would think. We decided to eat in and ordered both tacos and enchiladas. The service was quick and the food was tasty and came with beans and rice and salsa. We left satisfied and will return.

Came to Three Amigos for the first time FINALLY last weekend for a quick date lunch with the hubs. We arrived early for our reservation to find the restaurant empty — no problem. But I here on evenings you can be turned away. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was cute and quaint with lots of love and effort put into making you feel like you actually in Mexico. The food was pretty darn good. You gotta remember that I’m originally from the US so I’m used to darn good Mexican food but this is right up there with the best I’ve found in Edmonton. They have daily specials for $ 10 so be sure to ask your server. Lunch came with one complementary basket of homemade tortilla chips and salsa — Mmm… fresh is always good. I had a lime margarita and it, too, was among the best I’ve had in Edmonton. The burritos and fajitas were good but could’ve used more meat. Everything was fresh tasting. I would have enjoyed some more salsa options — especially some spicier options! It’s located in a strip mall a bit out of the way — not somewhere you would pass just running around town. So if you like authentic Mexican, be sure to bookmark this place so you won’t lose the address :-) I would definitely make the trip here again! And I think it would be a fun place to bring friends for a birthday meal out. Check out my pics :-)

The staff was nice and the food was a decent portion for the price. But as previous reviewers mentioned, its not the place to find Tex-Mex style. The tacos use corn tortillas and are filled with meat and pico de gallo instead of cheddar cheese, «taco sauce» and lettuce. But the food was fresh and flavorful without the need for sodium and sugar filled canned sauces. If that’s what you are expecting, go to Taco Bell instead.

So I was a little hesitant to try this place after seeing the most recent review. Did we go to the same place? I thought the portions were very large and the prices were decent. The décor makes it a lot of fun, very Mexican. This place is as authentic as a white girl from Alberta can hope for!

3 amigos has been a favourite donair place for me, and I’ve been going there for about 6 years now! I love their donairs and cannot get enough! There sit-in menu is awesome and super tasty. The waiter service is definitely very casual. Which I totally get it being a family business. However sometimes I’m waiting quite a while to get service,…

This is more of an actual Mexican restaurant than the gut-busting Tex-Mex places I’ve(unfortunately) come to associate with the genre. Hubs and I visited on a slow Sunday night. We immediately noticed a Help Wanted sign in the window, so to respond to some reviewers who commented on the poor service, at least they’re aware of a need for more staff. We were instructed that they were out of steak and pozole – which was fine by me, not being a fan of beef or hominy – but I did find it odd that they were out of their Sunday night special(pozole). Even still, it was Sunday. Stuff happens. The salsa that came with our tortilla chips fell rather short of expectations, but the chips themselves were outstanding. In fact, I’d go so far as to say they’re the best ones I’ve ever had. My husband was irritated by the small serving, but hey, we didn’t have to order it, and neither of us needed to fill up on fried corn dough. It ended up being the perfect amount, at least for me(I just let him eat most of them). Our chicken entrees arrived in a timely fashion and were delicious. The chicken was succulent, and the rice and beans were fantastic. Worries about another salsa, this time a verde, coming on my entrée(burritos nortenos) were put to rest – it was great. Both of us were delighted with our experience, and we will return.

I had a craving for tamales and hoped Three Amigos would hit the spot. Sadly, our dinner didn’t live up to the quality we enjoyed in our prior visit. I adore Mexican food so I was very disappointed by this evening. They were unable to keep up with the number of diners, once seated we waited very long periods to order drinks, to get drinks, to get the complementary fresh tortilla chips and salsa, to place our order, to get our order and to get cutlery for our food. it took a long time to be very disappointed by the food and drinks. We had to ask for the salsa when our meals arrived, despite requesting extra when we ordered. The mild salsa was tasteless, and the hot was hot but lacked flavour. The food hit the table luke-warm. My tamales were disappointing, the corn dough seemed old and overly dense and the stuffing was meh. Hubby’s tacos dorados(which looked a lot like flautas) looked over-fried and were also bland. The drinks were off too, my gin and soda arrived gin and 7. Milk(for the hubbies broken leg) was room temperature and tasted odd, not quite sour but not right. Maybe it was powdered milk– ick. There was live entertainment — a mariachi player serenaded the room without stoping the entire time we were there(about 2 hours). A break would have been nice. It was charming but not always exactly skillful. It’s not easy to play and sing for hours on end, so I’d cut him some slack. The meal came to $ 38 before tip. It felt like a $ 12 meal without the drinks. Next time i have a tamale craving I’m headed to the west end.

To my fellow Unilocalers, I salute you. I heard this was the place to go for authentic Mexican food and I needed to get my nacho on. I mentioned it to a friend of mine who was in dire search of a new Mexican restaurant ever since his favorite closed down. I believe I might have found him his new favorite Mexican restaurant. Upon walking in, you’ll notice that they do have take out which is very assuring in case it gets too busy or you’re in a rush. The dining area is quaint with deep blue walls, Mexican music videos playing on flat panel tv’s and trumpets and guitars playing soothing sounds of the land below. Very nice touch indeed. Our server came by and we started off with some authentic soda, Jarrito’s(which they serve at Mucho as well), and munched on some one of the finest guac and salso with warm nachos I’ve ever feasted upon. Glancing at their drink menus, they even carry some exotic and authentic tequila, olé! My friend ordered some tamales and I just ordered a plate of nachos with guac and chicken strips. The plate of nachos were average in size but the taste was of high calibre. The cheese was a white mozarella which was nice to see with olives and jalepenos. The chicken wasn’t marinated but had a tinge of salt which tasted refreshing and heartwarming. I’m glad it wasn’t too salty as I usually expect that from places like Moxies or Original Joes. With the thick guac and unique salsa, there was an edge of sincerity which did bring me back to Mexico. Although I didn’t try the tamale, my friend did really savor it and claimed that Three Amigos did win him over. The waiter came by a couple of times to check up on us and made friendly small talk which won us points. Down to earth staff, impeccable washroom. Decently priced($ 14.00 for nachos, $ 3.00 for the Jarrito’s). Muy Bien!

Seeing as my birthday just happens to coincide with Cinco de Mayo I like to celebrate my birthday with a liitle more Mexican flare despite the fact that there isn’t a trace of Mexican in my blood whatsoever. Still questioning myself as to why I have yet to be in Mexico for my birthday either? After trying this little piece of mexico in my own backyard I was ready to throw a Fiesta! I went with friends and ordered the best tasting lime margarita I had ever tasted! It wasn’t the last I ordered either! We were given some warm chips and delicious salsa to dip into while going over the menu and deciding on our entres. My friends ordered up a shrimp cocktail sort of appetizer(sorry can’t remember the name of it right now) and it was absolutely delicious! I can still taste the spicy goodness in my mouth and am now developing a craving for! I ordered up a plate of enchiladas and was impressed with the serving. Not piled up and not holding back either. It was a fantastic dish and I enjoyed everything about it including the refried beans! I found the atmosphere to be nice although the tables and chairs could use a bit of an upgrade to be a little more comfortable(not that they were so uncomfortable). There was a TV in the back of the restaurant playing a video of a Mariachi band to help provide more of an authentic Mexican experience. A real mariachi band would have been better, but where the heck are you gonna find one of those on in Edmonton? All in all a great Mexican experience and looking forward to spending my next birthday there! Heck, I may even go when it’s not my birthday just to have another fun experience!
