The Laugh Shop Pub & Deli

Took a risk and purchased a groupon for this establishment, honestly I didn’t stay for the show so I’ll be fair in my review but this place is extremely outdated and frankly does not look clean. It is terribly run down and does not even compare, in terms of first impression, to most comedy clubs such as Yuk Yuks etc. Looks like an unsanitary dive bar/​pizza place.

Tried to find out the line-​up dates and times. Easy enough? Nope! Not even possible. Facebook page hasn’t been updated in 4 months, Website doesn’t show anything but a looping home page and hasn’t been updated in 3 months. Last tweet was 2 months ago. Ok, no big deal, right? Made a quick phone call. It went something like this:
Some Dude: «WhatCanIDoForYou??»
Me: «Is this the Laugh Shop?»
Some Dude: «Yah»
Me: «I’m trying to get your comedy line up to plan a night out. Can you tell me whats coming up?»
Some Dude: «You want our hours?»
Me: «Uhh. no, your talent line-​up?»
Some Dude: «…»
Me: «Hello…»
Some Dude: «Uhh, yah, I’ll have to get someone to call you back.»
Me: «Ok, thanks!»
[. insert montage of the seasons changing while I wait, looking wistfully at my phone, which never rings .]
But I’m sure the food is good. ? smh.

Funny entertainment, tho I found it funny they took off 3. Dollars off our bill as they said debt was down yet the machine that they had ATM. Charges you 3 dollars anyways so it really isn’t a deal! But our blonde waitress thought it was. The food is actually pretty good and wasn’t a long wait. Staff was friendly but not bright trying to fool the customer thinking we are saving 3 dollars but we aren’t. That is why the two stars don’t try and fool your customers with the ATM IS DOWN SHIT as my friend said this has happened several time as they make money off the transactions. But other then that a fun place even when it is small.

Walked In after visiting multiple disappointing places in the area. New to edmonton… this is the best place I ate in 2 months… amazing staff. And the the pizza is the closest experiance is godly ive had with pubs. I would not visit edmonton without going here… I would not visit west of the 401 without eating here.
No better choice no better pizza…

Comedians were funny, service was good, but the reason for the two star rating is the fact that during the show they refused to serve me a glass of tap water. I was drinking beer and had to drive, so instead of allowing me to drink tap water, they made me buy an overpriced $ 3 bottle of water with the label «OVERPRICED WATER». They flat out refused to serve a glass of tapwater. To be denied a simple glass of water after our table had already ordered 2 pitchers of beer is not something I have ever experienced before! They must have seen how pissed I was and about half an hour later came over to inform me that the water had been taken off the bill. It still soured the experience though, and I wouldnt recommend going there if you have to be the DD, because just drinking water was more expensive than the beer! (12 $ a pitcher for yellowhead lager which was pretty good). The comedians were good though and the beer was cheap. Just thought I’d warn everyone about the water thing…
