If you’re looking for the best vegan eats in town — look no further. The tacos, wings and burgers — all meat free, and don’t taste like it! Always a great spot for beer and vegan food.

Hands down, my favourite bar in Edmonton. I have been coming here for years and have seen it grow, change, and increase in popularity. Great outdoor patio at the back of the Buckingham with picnic tables and umbrellas for shade. At the front, the prime seats are the tables overlooking Whyte Ave which are perfect for people watching. Stop by for afternoon beers. $ 5 Yellowhead &PBR draft from 3−8pm everyday! They also have Rock Creek cider in tap which is one of my favourite ciders. For food, they have an all vegan menu. In the past their menu was comprised of vegetarian and meat dishes. Then it switched to all vegetarian and now it is all vegan. The Buckingham is now partly owned by Sailing On which is a popular vegan food truck in Edmonton. They are the masters behind the vegan menu. I have yet to try more on the menu to find my favourite dishes! Great space for large group gatherings. Also, I have always had wonderful luck getting into the Buckingham later on a Friday or Saturday night and finding a table. The vibe and music brings out an eclectic group of people which makes the space amazing.

Came here with some girlfriends in August and we had a blast, it was during the day so a bit quiet but we had fun. Service was great, beautiful young lady with a awesome attitude. I ordered a vegan corn dog with vegan queso fries! So yummy, my corn dog was a bit spicy but I am definitely coming back here this summer! Can’t wait!

This place is unbelievable. The fried chicken dinner is the best thing on this planet. Everything I have eaten from here is amazing. I would eat here every day if I could. Also, their brunch is freaking spectacular!

I always enjoy the sailin on food truck so when I found out that they have a full menu I had to check it out! I was not disappointed at all! I am not a drinker so I can’t comment on the beverages but I sure enjoyed the food. The nachos were so amazing! I love that they use freshly made tortilla chips it just makes it so much tastier. It was a huge portion for two people. We were full afterwards and couldn’t order anything else. It came loaded with refried beans, veggies, vegan cheese and two sides. We needed up adding the queso cheese dip which was my favorite. It was so sweet and savory and really topped off the nachos! I have had their avocado tacos before which are delicious as well. I can’t wait to go back to try more delicious food. They also have cool retro video games and a pool table for a good time!

Awesome place to hang out with friends! Nice atmosphere and very good service. Buckingham is a cool cool place. Check out their food menu. Even if you aren’t familiar with vegan cuisine, you will not be let down. Get a drink or two and be sure to try the wings!

This is probably my favourite spot on Whyte. Their menu is done by the guys from Sailin On food truck — all vegan, all insanely good. Try the hot wings, they’re my favourite. I’ve never had a bad meal here, even if you’re turned off by the idea of all-vegan food, give it a try! The service is great, the staff really cares about their establishment, and the music is always good, too. The menu has a lot of options and price points, so it’s easy to get a cheap meal with a cheap pint during happy hour, if that’s your thing. The best time to go is when they open at 3 pm(the quietest), but you can enjoy a meal & conversation right up until about 8 or 9 pm — after that, it does turn into a real bar. Which is also great, if you want to listen to some music, play some darts or hang out on their back patio!

Came here for the Brunch. A special event held once a month. Great location on Whyte. I had most excellent vegan French Toast. My server was prompt and extremely professional and friendly. Can’t wait to try the mushroom beet burger next visit.

I have been here a few times on a Friday/Saturday night and can say that whatever late-night service issues they were having is totally gone!

I’m really glad that the Buckingham is around! Let it be known that I’m no longer a 20-something and therefore am not the spry bar hopper of yester year, but with that said — Buckingham is a place I’m apt to suggest AND go to when I’m feelin zazzy! They have awesome theme nights like Simpsons trivia, sporting event nights, and did I mention bands play there? I clearly did not. Well they do! Go see live bands there! I mean I’m an 87 year old living in a 32 year olds body, so I only go once and a while. But if you a youngie, get into it! Support your peeps! My favourite time to go to The Buckingham is later evening and dippin into the the early night(7:30ish). Eat a meal, have a couple of pints, then home time! The food is delicious! I believe it’s taken care of by the Sailin’ On crew, and they always got good stuff. It’s vegan, but I don’t even feel like I had to mention it because it’s good and that’s what matters. Riiiight? In the summer it’s just lovely to sit on the balcony and watch people walking down the Ave. Classy times! TL; DR — I’m old, Buckingham is fun.

I feel like one star is still to high. Just because your food is vegan doesn’t mean it can be shitty. Takes ten minutes to get a beer and even the fries taste off, HOWDOYOUFUCKUPFRIES

Strictly vegan food at a restaurant in Edmonton?! Hallelujah! It’s not cheap, but it is a rare beast in these parts. It’s super cool that Sailin’ On food truck has taken over the menu. The only concern I have is that I want bolder flavour. Especially with things like tacos, just go nuts. Make it full of flavour bombs. Customers who don’t like spice can ask for the sissy version, or you can warn them with varying amounts of little chillies or crying baby faces on the menu. This place is GOOD but it could be so GREAT!!!

Loving that they’ve gone all vegan, though there’s still some wrinkles that need ironing out(they seem quite open to hearing what could be improved upon — like the mac and cheese *cough cough*). The atmosphere’s cool, I like sitting on the balcony patio bit at the front, and I totes don’t think it’s too loud out there. I do like the booths and the weirdo art and the games inside though(darts, billiards, arcade machines, if you’re looking to impress your date). The DJ the other night was playing some good tunes, just dry cut, but they ranged from wayyyy vintage to pretty contemporary and flowed well from song to song in style. Service is good and friendly, everyone seems pretty excited by the changes. Prices are pretty decent. I think that, though the menu is pretty big, it could use a few more pub staples… like potato skins(they’ve got all the ingredients for them in their kitchen: P), and maybe the extensive selection of Tex Mex is a little surprising. lol But if you’re into faux meat, get the corndogs… and everyone should get some FRIES. So glad I can get one of my favourite fries in the city nearly anytime now, and not just from the Sailin’ On food truck(the maestros who have taken over the menu)

Out with the old, in with the new. The old menu is gone, and the new chefs are really passionate about what they do. Try their awesome fries, send your comments back to the kitchen, good or bad. Expect good things to come as the new Sailin’ On crew start to flex their muscles! This place has a great vantage point over Whyte, and the back patio lurks over the laneway. I really like this place but there’s only one thing, the music on the patio speakers in the front is a little loud. Go enjoy!

I had eaten here a few months ago, and the service was ok(neither great or terrible) and I was really pleased to find a vegan and vegetarian section on their menu, so I was excited to go again this week when my co-workers suggested it. Boy was I let down. Our service was appalling our waitress forgot drinks, and an entire meal, and took forever to return and check on our table. They had just changed he menu and now it’s entirely vegan, I was at first a little excited because their previous veggie options were really good. But I realized within about 3 minutes that they had alienated about 80% of our table who enjoy meat. I attempted to convince my coworkers that it would be good food, as it had been last time, so they stayed, but I was wrong and the food was now absolutely revolting and took literally an hour and a half to get to our table. I’m not even joking, 90 minutes of waiting awkwardly with little to no service. We got the chilli cheese fries, which vegan chilli can be great so I thought it would be a sure winner but I was disappointed to receive a mediocre serving of soggy fries topped with warm bland salsa(definitely NOT chilli) and some vegan cheese substitute that looked like curdled mustard. My friend got the vegan Mac and cheese, which I don’t know why if you are making vegan food you wouldn’t have made a vegetable based pasta rather than imitation cheese, but either way it was inedible, it tasted like rubber and a poor curry. My other coworker got a vegetarian burrito, which was basically just rice, tinned frijoles and large chunks of raw onion. My other friend never received his meal, so I can’t even comment on that one as he was left waiting for an hour and a half to go hungry. Maybe he was the lucky one though… My coworkers that eat meat were disgusted and left to get pizza. We left shortly after. I really was exited to show them that you don’t HAVE to eat meat, but this place blew it.

As far as pubs go, this place is pretty standard. I went here last night for a private event with live music. As I waited for my friends to arrive, I stood at the bar and was served almost immediately. Bartender was very nice and knowledgeable. I ordered a pint of Yellowhead as it was on special for $ 4. Once my friends arrived, we sat down at a table. I know in previous reviews it stated that service was poor so paid close attention to that. There were only two servers on the floor that I could see but my service was to my needs despite the place being completely full. I ordered a burger(I forget the name now) but it came with a fried egg and baked beans. It was pretty decent. Fries were a bit salty. My friends ordered the Springsteen Platter and they enjoyed it. It is likely that I will return to The Buckingham and I hope my experience remains consistently good.

I have not been this bothered by a service experience in quite some time. A friend and I came into The Buckingham for a drink after a tough week and were enjoying ourselves at first. The bar tender we dealt with seemed like a pretty friendly guy and even though it was a busy Friday night on Whyte we had little issue with finding a table to sit down at. As soon as we sat down there that’s where the irritation started. The waitresses here seemed to be serving everybody except us. My friend tried to catch their attention several times calling out as well as sticking his arm out and waving but they would either walk right past or change directions and go back the way they came. At one point one even came straight to us and grabbed an empty glass that had been left by whoever had occupied our table before us and then immediately left without smiling at us, asking how things were going, our even acknowledging our existence. As a result of this we were not able to get food as the bartender we went over to talk to had informed us the kitchen closed at eleven. We had sat down at 10:20 which meant we spent 40 minutes trying to get these girls attention. The tables in front of us and behind us received great service and the waitresses stopped several times there to replenish drinks and socialize. I heartily agree with Vicky S. that this place is pretentious and they will only offer service to whoever they deem worthy of it. I will never waste another dollar in this place and plan to go out of my way to make sure my friends, family, coworkers, and anybody else who will listen will not waste their time and money here either.

Remember the glory days of Filthy’s? When the music was amazing, the crowd odd but awesome and accepting of of everyone and playing wicked punk/rock music… Well that’s how the Buckingham is. Oh, with one major difference: the food is gastro-pub greatness! An entire poutine menu, various veggie & vegan dishes and freaking phenomenal burgers! For those summer months they also have a second floor patio.
