Ordered delivery tonight, was prompt service and ready in about 40 minutes from time of call. Dinner for two was plenty for probably four. Had chicken balls, deep fried wontons, chicken fried rice, two spring rolls, and chicken chow mein. All of it was delicious! $ 33 with tip included was a perfect price for loads of food with left overs. Lots of red sauce, plum sauce and soy sauce. Will order again!

My first ordering from Szechuan House. I would not recommend dining in, its take out or delivery only from looks of inside. It looks like someone made a fort with all the tables and chairs. Lol
When I picked up my order, it was ready on time and nice and hot.
The quantities were satisfying, it all tasted great. It’s just your typical Edmonton Chinese take out.

A big ol’ nope. Got delivery, I never have high hopes for Chinese food delivery (which annoys me in a city like Edmonton with a larger Asian population) we typically do pick up from Wok n’ Go which is consistently awesome but sometimes we don’t want to drive so we have been trying for years to find decent delivery Chinese food. Everything was lukewarm and soggy and gross and tasteless. The delivery driver had some difficulty finding our house so I can understand the temperature of the food but if Chinese food tastes good you can eat it lukewarm/​cold or reheat it and it’s still tasty. This was just all bad. Even the chicken fried rice. How the hell do you make chicken fried rice taste bad? On the plus side, the driver was super friendly! The quest continues…

WOW, this company needs to update there owners on how to do business, they are located at 127 and 137 ave, I am exactly 6 kilometres from there location in the new subdivision of starling right off Anthony henday and Ray gibbons, so I’m excited as your website gives these guys a ⁴⁄₅ rating. I call and speak to a young lady who obviously takes the orders, she asks for my address, I say where I’m located and she says «oh, I don’t think we deliver to that side of the Anthony henday, let me remind you I am roughly a 12 minute „tops“ drive from there location, she says just one second, then a lady who speaks poor Engrish proceeds to ask where do woo live, I say west edmonton as per my address, she says we don’t deliver to west edmonton, again I tell you I am closer than if she went to 66 street and 153 ave. My order would have been a dinner for 10 people, so what I’m saying is a few things… First never turn down customers, if there was an issue with distance“which there isn’t» say it will be an additional charge and secondly, if you are the owner which I’m guessing the lady on the phone that spoke broken Engrish was, don’t be rude, wishing I could have tried the food, now they will never see a penny from me. Good luck I’m giving a ¹⁄₅ because at least they have a person that although young realizes that the across the tracks/​Henday policy is a joke.

I’ve been to this place a few times to pick up food and also had delivery on several occasions. Fast, friendly service and food has been hot and tasty. Don’t let the not so organized seating place fool you. Great comfort food. I will keep going back!

I love this place. My food is always delivered hot. The staff is always nice when I call in, pick up or have delivered. I never got sick from the food unlike other take out places. I’d recommend them to anyone.

Szechuan House is desperate. Despite having tables and chairs scattered about, you can’t eat in – they offer take-​out or delivery service only. I didn’t even bother to ask about eating in there, out of my take-​out containers, as it didn’t seem they would welcome that.
Also, they don’t put any utensils in the bag with your take-​out order and when you ask for them, they have only plastic forks and disposable chopsticks. I hope you don’t feel the need to cut up anything or to use a spoon to eat your soup!
Finally, the food is depressing and underwhelming round-​eye stuff. Do you enjoy Chineez fud from small-​town «restaurants», from strip mall joints, and from North American food courts? If you do, then you’ll love what they sell there. If you have any idea what Chinese food is supposed to taste like, however, then it isn’t the place for you.
If I were you and if I had a clue, then I’d take a pass on this place. It’s too bad, really, as the people who work there seem to be friendly enough. I won’t visit there again.

This place is awesome! Fresh vegetables done perfectly, delivered piping hot and wonderful staff. It’s family run, and they take pride in what they do– Lisa and her husband do the cooking while their daughter mans the front (I believe). Our delivery guy also is great — one of the first times we ordered he actually had to park almost two blocks away because the streets were flooded and he was soaked up to his knees… than apologized for being a few mins late. Above and beyond. It is delivery/​take out only– free delivery over $ 19– they do have a huge front area that they use for storage etc. that is usually not seen by customers so it could throw you off if you’ve never worked in a resturant before to know what goes on in a kitchen.

I’m new in town and this place is close to where I live and does free delivery. Big downside is no menu online so I had to go in to get one. Friendly staff, though. I think it’s a family business.
While going through the menu I realized there are only a limited amount of things I can order since there are severe food allergies in my family, including shellfish. Ordered the chicken with 2 mushrooms, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, chicken fried rice, and lemon chicken. Price point, its good for portion size and quality of what you’re getting. The food tasted fresh and wasn’t very greasy compared to most places. I liked the fact that the veggies were perfectly cooked and not mushy and the meat was also well cooked but not over cooked like most hole in the wall places. The big letdown was the fried rice as it was way too dry and I ended up throwing it into a pot to recook it to a more edible state. Flavour wise, though, all the food was good without being overly salty.
I will be ordering from them again!

We ordered from Szechuan House this evening for the first time. So far we are very impressed with the food and service. When I called, the young lady (Angela) was very pleasant and helpful, and the food arrived piping hot within 45 minutes.
We ordered spring rolls, chicken fried rice, chicken with 2 mushrooms, special chow mein, deep-​fried shrimp, and sweet-​and-​sour ribs.
Because we’re overly full, we didn’t get the chance, yet, to try the spring rolls.
Szechuan House uses a different sauce for their s/​s ribs. It’s not like the canned sauce that so many other places use. I liked it as it had a decent balance of flavours.
My wife likes chow mein, but she REALLY likes the special chow mein from here. It was topped with big pieces of chicken and shrimp, cauliflower, and other stuff. I don’t usually eat much chow mein, but even I liked it. Delicious!
The deep fried shrimp was cooked much better than most other restaurants. It was a nice darker golden brown, and wasn’t nearly as greasy as others. And the shrimp inside was huge. I truly tasted more shrimp than I did breading.
The chicken with 2 mushrooms? It was quite good, but we’ve never tried anything like it before, so I can’t compare it to others.
We will definitely order from Szechuan House next time we want Chinese food, and recommend it quite highly.
I was debating between 4 or 5 stars, and because of the s/​s sauce, and the decadent chow mein, 5 stars it be.

Went there based on the first recommendation. Despite having tables and a sign that says fully licensed this place is take out only. Lady that greeted us was NOT at all friendly. Place did not look very clean nor did it smell good. Did not order any food based on appearance and attitude and suggest others check out the premises before ordering.

I have never actually been to this restaurant, but I frequently order take-​out from them over the phone, and so I will review customer service and the food. Szechuan House’s menu doesn’t really differ from other Chinese restaurants in town, but I love portion sizes and freshness of the ingredients. Prices are very reasonable considering the amount of food you will get. When my husband and I order dinner for two ($ 24), we know that the food will last us two days. Some of the things we order most often are hot and sour soup (great for treating a cold or a hangover:), spring rolls, shrimp and mixed greens, chicken with mushrooms (Portobello mushrooms are amazing) and shanghai noodles. I will say again that Szechuan House offers well-​known dishes which can be found at any other Asian restaurant in town; what makes me keep ordering from them over and over again is the way the food is prepared. It is not overly sweet or salty; it is not swimming in sauces that have God knows what in them; and all ingredients taste fresh.
All orders totalling $ 19.00 are subject to free delivery. Which brings me to the issue of customer service… Most of the time, deliveries are timely, but on several occasions we had to wait over an hour for our order to arrive. Such long wait is annoying but the food makes up for it big time. Once, not only did we wait 1 hour, but the food arrived cold. Basically, customer service is a hit and miss with this restaurant, and that is the only drawback.
