Greasy, lacking in flavor. Had to move us one we were seated and said we’d get 25% off of our meal, but when the bill came were charged full price. Will definitely not return.

As an update to my review I need to add that I sent a message to Soda Jerks’ corporate office to bring the music volume to their attention… ya ya I know some of you are thinking I’m just a complainer. I’m not really, I am of the mind that thinks management should be aware when something is wrong so that they can rectify it. I never ask for a free meal or even an apology, I just want everyone to be able to enjoy a pleasant environment. I received a very quick reply from someone at corporate and I’m happy with their actions.

Waited for over 10 minutes after being seated before the server came over. She did apologize for the wait. Waited for server after we finished for over 15 minutes. She just ignored us. The root beer was just under room temperature. Burger was okay. The meat was overdone. This is not a very good chain. Many more burger places offer better food. Edmonton and area have many better offerings for quality burgers

What a menu! We tried the Mac n cheese bites(so good!!), build your own burgers, and the chocolate covered bacon. Such a fun meal! We also tried three different bottle soda options. I would definitely come back to try out more crazy items!

Great service, friendly staff. Burgers are always spot on. Disappointed they discontinued the Helga. Fries are great and they understand that«well done fries» doesnt mean«slightly warmer fries»

SOYUM! I always order Shrooms burger and Yam Fries. I am a Jerk Addict! I havent ordered anything else because its just THAT good. Definitely my go to cheat meal always because I know it will always be worth it. This place is quite pricey for a burger joint, but i rather pay $$ and know i will be satisfied everytime.

Love love love the milkshakes and deep fried pickles! I’m not a fan of the burgers, but I don’t generally like hamburgers anyway, I found them to be a bit on the dry side and not great flavour. But again, not a fan of burgers anyway. We’ve been 4 or 5 times, and service has always been attentive. Music a wee bit loud last time we went, which makes it hard to converse, we asked the server, and he said that they couldn’t turn it down as it was set.(?) Will continue to go, just cause I love me some deep fried pickles.

Waitress was very nice and responsive. I asked for her favourites and she wasn’t scared to tell me in detail. I had the Hawaiian burger and it was definitely one of the best burgers I’ve ever had(and I fu*king love trying burgers from different joints). Yam fries were awesome. They actually tastes like yam and didn’t have the sh*t cooked out of it. Well done, kind sir.

This place has pros and cons and I so badly wanted it to be awesome but it didn’t live up to my hopes. Finding it is a pain unless you know where it is, there is not much for signage and then BAM you have driven past it. Once inside it’s pretty cool, retro style décor, old pop bottles, liquor bottles, retro music and seating. The menu is extensive, there is a lot to choose from and there is even a make your own burger section which is pretty awesome. Down side… I have now gone twice, the first time with my boyfriend and the service was sub par. Not really checking in, which you need considering the food takes forever to come out. The first time I went my food was hot but so was the plate which usually means it was sitting under a warmer, and my boyfriends food was cold. It tasted good but we were not super impressed. The second time I went wad with coworkers for a birthday. There was maybe 8 of us… the food took 30 min or more to come out. Myself and another coworker ordered milkshakes and they were completely gone by the time our food came. Also the server only came around about 20– 25 min after we ordered to see if our table wanted refills which is too long especially with no food on the table. Again the food was pretty good, but 2 bad experiences with services and waiting for food… kind of makes me not want to go. I mean I work for a restaurant that makes food to order but it’s usually explained to order an appetizer as the mains take some time and drinks are checked on frequently to make up for the wait. I really really wanted to be excited for it but was let down. Maybe in a year I will try again but I doubt I will go in the near future.

This restaurant is incredibly average. I have been excited to come here for a long time but left very underwhelmed after lunch yesterday. The décor was okay, not super exciting. I do like that they bring you your soda in a glass bottle. My boss and I both did the«make your own burger» option which is a cool concept. Our food took almost 30 minutes which was weird for burgers and fries and weird considering we were maybe one of three tables in the whole restaurant. The food was average. Fries were fine. I had a grilled chicken burger on their whole wheat tomato bun. The bun was HUGE and pretty dry. I literally felt like I was eating a small piece of chicken between a loaf of bread. Considering how many different options there is for lunch in this area, I doubt I’ll be back to give it another try. Too bad.

If you have never been to Soda Jerks before let me describe it for you. They have a cool little 50’s set up somewhat, and an extremely extensive drink and burger menu. They have TONS of different types of Sodas that you can’t even find in stores let alone restaurants, 1 a million different milkshake flavors, and«adult» milkshake creations of mixing milkshakes with booze to create special flavors. Once again I went with my friend Andrew. Andrew and I started off our experience by first ordering a can of Old Milwaukee to shotgun, which was delivered to our table with a cleaning cloth. Pure class the two of us. After shotgunning a beer we picked a soda off the extensive menu to try, for Andrew it was Dad’s Old Fashioned Orange Cream, and for me I ordered the Rose Lemonade at my servers suggestion. I had been to Soda Jerks once before about a year with my friend Claire and we had the most AMAZING deep fried pickles, so naturally I forced Andrew into ordering the deep fried pickles there again. Our pickles came out and this time they looked a lot different than the last time Claire and I had stuffed our faces full of them(almost ordering a second plate). The first time I had them they were cut into little dollar sized rounds with the perfect amount of batter on them. This time they were cut into 4 quarters and the batter on them was excessive to say the least. Nevermind that these pickles were WAY too greasy. It was way too much grease. I felt like I was eating somewhere in the states, where they have grease dripping off every single item of food on their menu. Next up it was time to order our burgers. Now at Soda Jerks you have 2 options when it comes to their burgers, you can either order something on the menu, as most restaurants do it, or you can build your own burger. Now the build your own burger experience here is nothing to mess around about. They have SERIOUS options when it comes to the toppings. I’m talking crazy stuff. Chocolate covered bacon, waffle buns, mac and cheese bites, Doritos, jam, porgies. WTF. You could build the craziest burger at this place. Just nuts. I opted to go with a regular beef burger, with lettuce, BBQ sauce, Bacon Mayo, Gouda Cheese, Pickles(duh), and Mac & Cheese Bites with the regular fries. Andrew got sweet potato fries, and his burger had a waffle bun, Mac N Chees bites, Caramelized onions, a pineapple ring, lettuce, tomato, and Dr. Pepper BBQ Sauce. The burgers came and it was amazeballs. The Mac & Cheese bites tasted phenomenal with the burger. Yeah not much more I can say about the burger other than I couldn’t finish it but it was tasty as hell.

I had not even heard of Soda Jerks but my boyfriend had read reviews on Urban spoon, so we decided to check it out. We never evaluate a restaurant based on atmosphere or décor, we are all about the food! We loved how you can build your own burgers and were impressed with the variety of choices of bun(you can even choose waffles), toppings, as well as condiments. The burgers are huge(and messy which is a good sign in my opinion). The burgers were awesome! They were cooked to perfection and everything was so fresh and flavorful. The fries(which came in what looked like metal dog dishes lol) weren’t the typical deep fried frozen kind, they tasted homemade. We both left full and more than satisfied and will definitely be back! I’d recommend Soda Jerks for sure. I even recommended it to my brother who claims to be a burger expert. ;)

I love a good burger, I love a good atmosphere even better. This place unfortunately has neither. I guess the venue use to be an earls or moxies or something? Because that’s exactly how it feels, carbon copied franchised pretentiousness. I expected a place called«soda jerks» to be kinda funky, maybe a little retro, certainly not what this was. Our table was for 9, they gave us a table for 8, and then stuck another chair on the corner, which I would be totally ok with, had they not been gigantic tub chairs that are only really suited for a bar lounge, not a dining room. Out friend on the added chair could not reach her meal, or the table for that matter. Service was poor and I guess one of the servers was only scheduled until 9, because at that time she left and our table did not receive any more drinks, and none of the tables from the patrons that had left before us were cleared, just gross tables with dirty plates. The burgers were«ok» but no better than red robin, and certainly not good for the hype. I really wouldn’t recommend this place.

Good god, I love Soda Jerks. I haven’t had a burger here that I didn’t like, and I’m usually very prissy about my burgers. The first one the Trophy Wife and I ever had was called Baba. This burger consisted of a hamburger patty topped with perogies, cheddar, sour cream, bacon sautéed onions and gin & bacon sauerkraut all on a pretzel bun. Freakiin’ delicious! Next up was the Macho Nacho.(I wanted to try this one partly because it reminded me of pro wrestling) Imagine if you will, an all beef patty smothered in Doritos(nacho cheese flavour), jalapeńos, tomato, guacamole, sour cream, salsa, olives and cheddar cheese on a lovely sesame seed bun. Mmmmm… need I say more? We also have tried the«Blazin’.», which had Cajun spice, a buffalo onion ring, jalapeńos, banana peppers, jalapeńo jack cheese and chipotle mayo, served on that same fluffy sesame seed bun. If you like a little heat on your burger, this one gets two thumbs up from this guy! Being the daring folks that we are,(and out of sheer curiosity) we tried the PB& J burger. The all-beef patty with peanut butter, strawberry jam and two slices of chocolate covered bacon, served between Eggo waffles. I know that it may sound gross but believe it or not, it was surprisingly(actually shockingly) good! After initially being very hesitant, I would also absolutely order this one again. If you get the chance, try a Big Kid Milkshake. We had the«Breaky», which was basically a Monkey’s Lunch as a shake. Crème de Banane and Kahlua in a chocolate shake. It had a small kick that reminded you that there is alcohol present, yet didn’t take away from the flavour of the shake itself. Absolutely brilliant! The kids had a Peanut Butter and jam milkshake that was also wonderful! They got that one on two different occasions. On a closing note, Soda Jerks have the best burgers I have ever had, and that’s saying a lot. I’d be practically living there if I wasn’t already watching my blood sugar levels. We’ll just stick with the occasional visit. I’ll leave you with this an anecdote of one of my favourite memories… Doritos Nachos. ‘Nuff said.

Great concept, 50’s style funky diner! Retro décor and music! There is both a dining room and lounge. However I do agree with the other reviewers, every time we have been here the service has been very slow and lacking. The menu boasts a vast selection of specialty soda pop with flavors such as black cherry, vanilla coke, dad’s root beer, etc. You also have the option to make your drink a float by adding ice-cream, and you also have the option of adding a shot of alcohol to that shake! LOL Speaking of ice cream, what 50’s style diner doesn’t have great milkshakes?! Soda Jerk’s is no exception… the milkshakes here are delicious. I had the mushroom swiss burger, which is my go to when I am in the mood for burgers. No complaints. Hearty portion, yummy fries and delicious burger. My other half, opted to build his own burger. Looked great and his appetite and tastes buds were extremely satisfied as well. Food came out fairly quick and the place was moderately busy for a Tuesday night. It took a while for our drinks to be refilled and plate to be cleared, but no biggie. The atmosphere here is casual, good for families, kids and even groups for something such as a birthday party. I saw a private room near the bathrooms. Something cool to note: The have a «BIGBOYCHALLENGE» if you can eat all 3 of their burgers«The Doris, The Big Yard and The Big Jerk(which cost about $ 20 per burger) in under 30 mins… all three are FREE and you will receive a $ 100 gift certificate. They also encourage you to post pictures of your food via Instagram for a chance to win a $ 50 gift certificate Only complaint? I wish they had a better deseert selection.

If you’re looking to get a milkshake or a soda, and especially if you want to mix it up with some booze, Soda Jerks is a great option. They serve at least 50 varieties of high quality sodas(Boylan’s, Fentiman’s, Grizzly Paw, and more yum) — all in bottles. And they have a variety of Shakes and Floats. And at $ 4.99 for a large shake, they’re quite a good value if you have a sweet tooth. My wife loves the Peanut Butter shake. The décor of this location is actually quite nice — it feels in many ways like your typical semi-upscale chain restaurant(Moxie’s, Earl’s, Joey’s), complete with tunes that wouldn’t be out of place in the lobby of a W hotel, but without the pretense or prices to match. While the ability to build your own burger and the variety(and taste) of toppings are fantastic, I was a disappointed in my patty, which was hard, somewhat burnt, and contained a piece of gristle. I think I’ll go for the pulled pork next time, as I’ll be able to get a bunch of great toppings(Brie! Roasted Red Peppers!) with a less dry filling. There’s a changing table in the washroom, which makes it an easy option if you’re dining with young tots.

I’ve been to soda jerks a few time & today was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I have had work parties for my staff before, but it’s definitely lost its finesse. To start off with we came in at about 2:30 in a Friday afternoon, only a handful of people in the restaurant. So not busy at all. We waited for about 15 minutes at the front door to be seated, which never happened so we sat ourselves. I advised my guest to make her burger, as that’s usually how I go. But this time went with the taco salad(as I was super excited about the Doritos in the salad). Food came out in a reasonable time, my guests food was absolutely delightful. My salad came out in a mixing bowl, which was dirty with fingerprints all over it, no Doritos & a barely broken down burger on top. What a difference. So I sent back my salad as I was missing the main ingredient that made my order the salad & hoping someone would see how badly presented the salad was. Then it came back, same presentation smallest handful from a bag of Doritos. Still not impressed with paying $ 15 for this. I was so unimpressed with this salad, I sent it back in hopes the server would ask if I could have had something else & would have made my own burger as this was the tried & true. And instead offered me nothing. So I’ll go to McDonald’s for lunch & never return to the place or have any of my work functions here again.

I really wanted to like this place, I was so excited to finally get there. Walking in, we didn’t even grt greeted by the hostess. She kept ignoring us until we finally said something. She said it would be 15 – 20 minutes to wait… fine. After 30 minutes and seeing several people leave and empty, but dirty tables available, I went and asked if it would be much longer. …inwas told another 20 minutes. Then I pointed out the empty tables, which seemed to suprise her and asked if someone could clean them to see if we could take one. 10 minutes later 1 table in the bar was cleaned. My impression of the hostess was that she had no clue what she was doing. It took about another 10 minutes to get a server. She was pretty good, but it took a long time for our burgers. When they finally came out there was no sides with any of them, we were told that they would be coming later. The burgers were ok, nothing to write home about. I ordered a poutine as a side, the gravy tasted like something prepackaged you would get with take out, disappointing to say the least. Some of the toppings were also not included on my burger. It took over an hour and a half to complete our meal, excruciatingly long for a burger place. They also do not have payment tableside, which seems very outdated for such a new restaurant. The service was absolutely dismal, and looking around at other employees, it seems quite dysfunctional. I had my hopes up for this place but was utterly disappointed. I will not be rushing back.

Stopped in here killing time, wasn’t expecting much a and had a gift certificate so thought what the hell. The biggest thing that I noticed was the funky feel and staff made it feel very homey. They were really friendly right off the bat and attentive. Sometimes in independant restos it’s either really bad service or really good and these guys care. I had a fancy finger ale, and some beer. Didn’t eat as I was waiting for a friend. The food nearby looked good tho and kind of an interesting concept. Build a burger for $ 13.5. I think I will come back and try the food out. Also the spiked milkshakes Bacon vodka in the Caesar sounds like fun too.
