The chocolate and butterscotch milkshakes are DIVINE! The baked lasagna is standard diner fare and big enough for two. Honestly, I come here for the milkshakes and anything else is just a side. ^_^

Great little classic diner as long as you know what to order! The milkshakes are DIVINE — absolute must have. Decent Reuben, fries, onion rings, and coleslaw. Solid food for anytime you are in the mood for a little nostalgia. HP sauce on every table a plus.

I’m unsure as to how else to describe how bad this place is that someone else already hasn’t. The place is cold, the coffee is gross(which I’ve never experienced at a diner before) and the food is literally dripping with grease. The service was ok, but I had to spit out more than one mouthful of grease back onto my plate. I like what they’re trying to do atmospherically, but it feels old and uncared for.

Pretty basic restaurant. I’ve only ever been for breakfast, but both times I went, I wasn’t impressed. Service was very fast, staff is friendly enough, but the food is just bland, plain old typical diner breakfast food… Nothing too exciting. I wouldn’t go back again.

This place is not a charming throwback. It’s not a kitschy delight, and it’s not a hidden gem. It’s a dump that serves average, greasy food to surly blue-collar workers. If that’s what you’re after, that’s fine. Don’t deluxe yourself into thinking it’s anything more. The eggs were okay, as was the toast and the bacon. The hashbrowns were a wet, tasteless disaster. Bad coffee and a t.v. blasting a horrible reality show completed the experience. I doubt I’ll be back.

Spaghetti is bland, their veg is corn from a can, our burger patties were burnt. On the other hand, their fries were decent and apparently so was their gravy, but I wasn’t willing to try. Needless to say, we won’t be coming back.

I rate this place 4 stars for the taste of the food. We ordered burgers and fries, and they were both very, very good. The reason I only give 3 stars, was because I think the place needs a good cleaning, from walls to seats, and salt shakers to the menus. My menu was sticky, and that was kind of gross. Overall, I would most likely go back again and try the breakfast! I will just be sure to bring wet wipes with me.

This is a nice lil place right on 99st. They have a bunch of cool old fashioned rock and roll items on the wall. And we’re not talking Spencer’s gifts items that are made to look retro but were really purchased yesterday, we’re talking things that likely came from the 60’s. Totally legit. You can get some very decent breakfast items here. Obviously nothing too fancy but some good classics. I go here for a late night pie slice with ice cream. It’s good pie! If you’re looking for a place that isn’t trying to cash in on a retro feel, but is authentically retro go to here.

I love places like this. The food is always good, the vibe is relaxed, and the best part? It’s cheap. There’s not many places anymore where you can get a bacon and eggs meal for a few bucks. Can’t get much better than that!

Your typical greasy spoon. Inexpensive and quick service. Décor is a bit tattered and worn down. In real need of a refresh. Food is good. Speed of service is better than some of these chain restaurants. It would be nice if someone offered me a refill or some extra napkins. The burgers are greasy!

Disgusting! First thing… Limited parking. This place has a cool idea going for it. I like the name, the wall pieces(pics, old license plates, signs, etc.), the jukebox even though we couldn’t really hear it. You walk in and aren’t sure if you should wait to be seated? You seat yourself though. Too much is tattered from menus to seats. Food was quite fast but turned out DISGUSTING! 2⁄3 meals we didn’t eat yet cost waaay too much!

Solid diner joint with a 50’s vibe. Our go to greasy spoon for traditional breakfast or chocolate shakes.

I’m not really sure if I can find a brunch place something similar to Route 99 in Edmonton. Not very pricy, very good quality and a reasonable customer service . This place is usually packed for brunch during weekends. I would go back again.

Route 99 is a gem in the world of greasy spoons. There is nothing pretentious or snobby about this place; food is served up hot and fast, and the coffee flows freely. There may be some who think that Route 99’lack of presentation is a turn-off, but it just adds to the nostalgia of a mom and pop run restaurant. The food is delicious, consistent, and inexpensive. Where else can you eat a full breakfast with non-stop coffee for under $ 10.00? The staff are long-time severs here, and while they may seem abrasive at first, if you show them politeness, you get exceptional service and know you’ll be treated like gold the next time you come back.

Really have to say that I used to love it here, but the feeling of nostalgia has worn off. Pretty good for a greasy spoon but just getting a sloppy. The service is fast but not really that nice or attentive. I know, I know you get what you pay for but just kinda feel the waitress don’t care as much as they used to. I had the eggs benny which was good but nothing special. My hash browns were under seasoned lacking any bit of salt or anything. My partner ordered a turkey Swiss melt with fries. It was basically a grilled cheese with processed cheese and turkey. Meh. Only redeeming quality is the fries were tasty, the food came out fast and we paid under 20. However, I think we will try somewhere else next time seeing that we have been here over 5 times in the last year.

As I always say, I am a cheap date. Not hard to please and I live for simple food and great service. Which is exactly what I got! When my man and I rolled up, it was empty with only another couple in the diner, which my boyfriend was shocked to see. It was my first visit and he’s been there many times. It’s a tad grungy inside and the kitchen looks small but it’s the food and thought that counts, right? Right! Our waitress was excellent. Loved her spunky attitude and the big smile. She was attentive and fun to listen to. I had the two eggs, bacon and hash browns w/toast and boyfriend had what looked like a Philly cheesesteak(don’t remember). I was very satisfied though the bacon was a bit over cooked and the eggs weren’t necessarily scrambled and Chris was full. But overall a good experience. We will definitely return.

Sometimes, I like eating pancakes in what looks like the middle of a giant garage sale. That’s the vibe I get from the Route 99 Diner. Expect old-timey paraphernalia out the ying-yang on every surface that can possibly have something hung on it, stick to it, or placed upon it. Album covers, posters, a traffic light… I could go on and on and on. I almost feel like the food takes a back seat to this yard sale gone wild. My friends and I ordered French toast, pancakes, and the Diner Burger for breakfast one morning. In a nutshell: decent, if not especially memorable food. The French toast was quite yummy, but the pancakes were dry. The burger was a heart attack on a plate. Good patty, at least. Average coffee. Gruff service. I thought about ordering dessert, but was disappointed to see that the pies in their cooler come in exactly the same packaging as the ones I always see at the Superstore. I suppose that sometimes eating pancakes in a garage sale is nothing more than eating pancakes in a garage sale.

One Sunday around noon, we had an itch to find a diner with some greasy spoon options for breakfast. Route 99 Diner seemed like an obvious choice. When you walk in, you notice all the knickknacks and memorabilia covering just about every inch of wall space. The tables are all booths, but there is plenty of seating. Admittedly, after considering the many items on the menu, our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs. We ordered an egg dish each, two milkshakes and a poutine. The Eggs Benny were great. The omelette was perfect for me and full of cheese, with fresh toast that wasn’t over done. I love shredded potatoes and potato pancakes! couldn’t resist the heaping serving that accompanies any egg dish. The poutine fries were cooked perfectly, the gravy was tasty, and there was plenty of cheese. I was over stuffed and still munching on the fries. The service was a bit slow and the server forgot our milkshake. Once the orders were placed, the food came pretty quick. I am actually looking forward to our next visit and trying some of the other delicious looking options!

Best bang for your buck! Great atmosphere, lots of classics albums and pictures in the wall. Very retro feel! The food is amazing, nothing fancy, but always yummy. Everything is ready fast so there is no long waits. Coffee is the best dinner style coffee around! Staff wil remember you and are very friendly! It is a must for anyone living in or visiting Edmonton. A real part of the city!

I love Eggs Benedict and that’s what I came here to get. I was really disappointed. The one thing that makes eggs Benedict great is the hollandaise sauce. Their sauce had way too much butter in it. Which made it greasy and salty. It actually tasted and looked like it came from a package rather then making it themselves. I may go back and try something else there sometime but am not in a hurry.
