From reading past reviews, it’s evident to me that this place has a serious problem with staff; from the cooks to the waiters to the bartenders. My experience certainly reflects this. My burger was ok, but it took forever to come out, which was odd given there were only three other tables in the place at the time. When I received a totally plain burger, I asked my waiter why I wasn’t asked about adding cheese, bacon, etc., or choosing my side(I didn’t go there to enjoy a totally plain burger and some gross chips); he proceeded to tell me it’s «too many questions to ask people.» I couldn’t believe my ears, but it got worse. He refused to correct the mistake. He said I had to pay for plain burger still even if they made a new, proper burger. So I ate the plain burger, which was underwhelming but passable and left in disappointment. I advise against this place. It’s not the worst restaurant in the world, but on Jasper, there are many better options where you can get consistently good food and service.

Went here for lunch in a Saturday. I found everything really expensive for mediocre food. The crab cakes were $ 20 and I was expecting a fair amount but when it came out I was shocked and disappointed that there was only two little cakes. Really? How is that an appetizer to share with a few people. Also I ordered a blt salad and it was plain Jane. I could have made a better salad. It was bland and boring and anyone could make it. I didn’t like the menu or the price and probably won’t be going here again.

I wanted to like this place as it looks cool on the outside but the drinks are terrible and food is sub par. It’s another typical Edmonton pub nothing special…

Really want to like it. Like the environment. Menu is medium. Service is generally awful.

I was here on a beautiful spring weekend evening. First time visiting. The décor is very impressive, I loved the exposed brick walls and pictures that lit up! The sliding barn doors were a really cool touch. They opened to the other side of the restaurant because they had a dj playing later with dancing. Since it was a gorgeous evening, they had their patio open. It’s fairly small but looked nice. Lots of alcohol to chose from. Not a huge amount of beers on tap. I wasn’t so crazy about the crab cakes. They were very mushy and tasted almost like tuna salad with a breading. The presentation was fairly amateur. I think I was expecting something classier. Other than the food I really enjoyed my time there. I don’t know if I would go to eat there again but I would for drinks. A word to the wise though — at about 7:30 the music was cranked to 11, go before I’d you’re old like me!

Lovely spot. I’ve enjoyed every visit here. Good drinks and food. Great rotation of beers. I’m always pleasantly surprised! The steak bites are delicious, but of course they are, they’re wrapped in bacon! Pizza rolls and other apps are great. Good ribs too.

Terrible. Owner was very rude. Told me to go fuck myself. I don’t even know what more to say.

The place to meet people during lunch, when you are not sure where to go and would like somewhere inoffensive to everyone’s tastes but also want to seem like your cool and unique. This place does that by calling a box standard gastro-pub an ice box. I had the elk burger, it was like a lot of other burgers I have had before. The server was polite. The décor was standard for mid-range bars/restaurants of this type, they hired a designer and told her/him to make the place look ‘rustic’ and uniquely ‘albertan,’ cliché achieved!

My wife and I dropped in on a chilly November night after work. I Ordered the BBQ ribs. And she ordered the burger. The garlic mashed potatoes and the corn on the cob with my ribs were cold. I sent it back to the kitchen to get reheated. The potatoes were warmed up just fine, but the corn was still cold. Asked for another order of corn. They brought out another corn on the cob(after 10 minute or so wait). To their credit it was warm — nuked to the point of a mushy paste. Inedible. When asked if everything was alright, I mentioned the issue with the corn; to which our friendly waitress shrugged her shoulders and said ‘I tried’. I’m guessing this isn’t the first time she’s had to deal with issues from the kitchen. We were not offered any explanation or any help with our($ 72) bill. This was the first and last time my wife and I will darken the doors of Rocky Mountain Ice House. Just horrible.

While Rocky Mountain Ice House has decent drinks, the food is just not good. My husbands meal was cold and we had to send it back. He actually had to ask a second time to get his corn heated because it was ice cold. My burger was mostly bun — the patty was tasty but way too much bun. Drink specials are great but they need to revamp their food quality.

Had dinner here. Took a while for our server to notice us but once she did, service was attentive. We had«Pigs Nuts» and«Scoobie snacks» for appies. Both delicious but the nuts were amazing. I had the fried chicken and fritters. The fritters turned out to be fried mac n cheese balls which were surprisingly delicious… thankful we didn’t order that for an appetizer. The fried chicken was essentially homemade breaded chicken fingers. They were bland and just ok. Tasted the BBQ ribs. Tender, but again, just ok. The ganache cake was tasty by hard to dig into with a spoon. Overall, prices were good. Good beer selection. Awesome appetizers. Ok mains. Worth a try.

The 1 star is for the waitress who was being super awesome. My bf and I stopped by on Saturday night at about 10pm. She said the kitchen is still open, great. But 4 to 5 items on the menu were not available. We ordered this mac n cheese puppies dish which turned out to be dough rolled into balls and deep fried. They were burnt. Then we got the bailey chocolate cake and it was frozen so hard and I couldn’t break it apart.

I always want to like Rocky Mountain Ice House. The first time I had dinner here I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is great, the staff are friendly and the service isn’t bad. Unfortunately, the last couple of times I ended up here I was thoroughly disappointed. Be it an overcooked steak or disappointing crab cakes, I’ve not had a meal here I liked in a few visits. The atmosphere is great, I will say. They have a decent selection of beers on tap and a good wine list, but all in all the disappointment I’ve had with meals there dissuade me from returning.

The same folks that operate Cask and Barrel run Rocky Mountain Icehouse, I’m told. This makes sense, because the two places seem to share a lot of the same traits! Like at Cask, the space here is lovely. It’s one of the nicest rooms to open in Edmonton over the past couple of years. The feel is very urban but with deliberate shout-outs to nature, and well, the Rocky Mountains. Service has been good here in the times that I’ve visited. The servers are friendly and attentive. The Cajun-inspired food at Rocky Mountain Icehouse is good — better than the food at their sister establishment, by far. I love their macaroni and cheese fritters — little cornmeal balls peppered with macaroni and cheese, deep fried and served with spicy sauces. Their«burger and beer» special offered on Sunday afternoons is exceptional: for $ 10 you get a(very clearly house made) burger and a glass of Kokanee. Not bad! Additionally, their tomato salad is delicious: a set of tomatoes hollowed out and turned into bruschetta, which you scatter over greens. Finally, the gumbo is consistently good. Definitely give Rocky Mountain Icehouse a try, for the food, service and the room. It would be great to see it get a bit busier, as during the last few visits our table has been pretty lonely.

Great for a date night or place to start on a night out with the girls. They make a really smooth chocolate martini and the space is unique and fresh. I like the décor and the way the fireplace wall opens up to a dance floor.

The name certainly won’t win any awards, but my first visit to RMI was surprisingly favourable. Inside you’ll find modern clean lines mixed in with a woodsy/cabin theme. It sounds corny, but it actually works. I found the atmosphere pleasant. I will say you don’t want to be too close to the speakers in the corner though. So be aware of that when you choose a table. You also need to be careful because the natural wood tables are uneven and can put your drink at risk of tipping over, but I guess that is just character. The beer selection has local mixed in with commercial. I think this is pretty standard these days for any type of bar/restaurant so they get a check for beer I can drink, although I personally would like to see some fun/different taps mixed in. The food was decent. I ordered the bbq ribs and they were tender, juicy and fell off the bone. Cooked very well. The bbq sauce tasted like Bulleye at least too me. I’d have to try again to be sure. But if this is the case, not too many points for creativity. The corn was cold and sour. I loved it. The veggies were fine, but the beans had the same bbq sauce in them as the ribs. I didn’t think this worked with the beans. I forgot how much it was, but I think something like 21 $. It is a bit pricey, but the portions were decent. All in all, the beer selection was ok, the BBQ ribs were hit and miss, and the atmosphere was fun. It’s a tough one to rate. 3.5 stars, but not sure it broke the 4 star barrier. I’d recommend trying RMI and will definitely be back again.

Walked in to find the restaurant empty, but it was before noon, so I had my choice of anywhere to sit. I picked the one side booth seating, other side chairs and waited for my friend. The next couple that came in chose to sit next to our table. Am glad the seats aren’t too close together so there’s a little privacy. There were a few servers and bartender chatting as there wasn’t much to do. I got my water promptly and checked out the menu. Some interesting appetizers but I decided to go with the bbq chicken sandwich for $ 14. My friend had the grilled chicken sandwich and we both had the side salad. The restaurant filled up to about 6 occupied tables with a few larger groups. But the wait for the food was longer than expected for not very busy. The presentation of the salad was nice with the shoestring carrots and dressing on the side. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be heavy dressing as it looked thick but it was good. I was hoping for a pulled chicken sandwich but the bbq one was ok. It wasn’t really good and it didn’t sucked. It was a little better than what I had at a bar at the Fort Lauderdale Best Western. I wouldn’t order it again. Service decent but a little slow. The restaurant was on one half and they were moving the wreath decorated barriers to open up the bar side. It would have been better to wait until after the lunch crowd as we had to hear chairs being dragged along the floor. I liked the décor and layout. Washroom was clean and posters posted with the specials adorned the walls. May try it again, but not anytime soon with all the great restaurants around.

Stumbled into this place by accident. Just flew in from Montréal on a Sunday night and wondered down Jasper Ave looking for a place to eat. I liked the name so decided to walk in. Awesome décor, really liked it — white trees picture frames on a white brick wall. The other side with wood fire places. Plenty of places to sit — great comfy bar stools — and that’s where I sat for food and a few beverages. They have a very good bottle and draft beer selection — many local brews — I had the Yellowhead — very nice beer! For supper I had the BBQ Ribs — came with corn on the cob and beans… Ok I don’t like beans — I forgot to tell her to switch them. The BBQ sauce was amazing, had some bite and the tender ribs — delicious. Corn was ok and Beans were beans — but hey I don’t like beans anyway… Really like the ambiance of this place, friendly staff, great décor and layout and liked the music. Hope it does well

I had hear that the Rocky Mountain icehouse was a nice new restaurant in downtown so I decided to check it out. The place is very nicely decorated and trendy. There is some good music playing in the background just loud enough to notice. The look reminds me of a skii lodge with all the wood and stonework. The servers were very friendly and helpful. Now onto the food… I had the BBQ pulled chicken sandwich. It was a little sloppy but oh my god so good. A little spicy and nicely seasoned. It’s definitely one of the best BBQ chicken sandwiches I have had. The price is a little pricy compared to the other places in the area however it think the quality of the food justifies it. This is going to become one of my new favourite spots for lunch.

I dropped in on a Wednesday evening after seeing how bumpin’ this place was earlier at lunch. I love seeing a hot new place open up Downtown YEG! And Rocky Mountain Icehouse is pretty sweet! The décor inside is trendy and welcoming. It’s quite large with lots of seating, and even a small patio out front. All of the hooks in the bathroom and under the bar are made of forks which I thought was cute. What is an Icehouse? They explain it on their menu but I had too much fun(and alcohol) to remember how they got the name… Oops! But how can that be a bad thing? Our server was friendly. The food was great(they do full chicken wings, not just the little winglets– you don’t see that often!)… And the drinks were plenty. They have their kegs on display behind the bar in some kind of window box… But it isn’t finished yet! Still under construction? Stoked to see the finished product! I think Rocky Mountain will be one of my new favourite places to meet up with friends Downtown. Can’t wait to see how they do!
