Phở Anh Dao is located in Chinatown in the space formerly occupied by Le Family Vietnamese. The menu is very similar, and full of Vietnamese dishes one would expect like bowls of phở, vermicelli rice noodle bowls with different kinds of meat, rice dishes, and even a few things for the more adventurous. My grilled beef vermicelli bowl was very large and contained more meat than I have had in other places. Ditto for my friend’s bowl of spicy beef soup — it was chock full of medium slices of beef and beef balls. Service was quick and everything tasted great. The only(minor) problem was that the staff does not speak English very well, so at a few points it was difficult asking questions about menu items. For example, at first I ordered the grilled beef and spring roll vermicelli bowl, and asked that the spring rolls be vegetarian, as veggie spring rolls were offered in the appetizer section, so I assumed they were available as a substitution. Someone from the kitchen came out and wanted to know if I wanted the spring rolls with the meal or separate, and then said that they only had the ones filled with pork. However, they accommodated my request for no fish sauce easily and even asked if peanuts were all right to put on my meal(she probably thought there was an allergy issue rather than a religious one). My friend was surprised there was shrimp in her beef soup and was not sure if they gave her the wrong item or if she ordered the wrong thing, so she gave the benefit of the doubt. Prices were in line with other restaurants in the area, and with our drinks and tip included we got out of there in about $ 25. Definitely worth another visit.
