I just had lunch at this beautiful new Chinese restaurant. The restaurant is modern and beautiful. Free parking in the rear. I ordered a combo lunch for $ 15.00. This is the most beautiful and delicious lunch I have ever seen for this price. Everything is fresh made and scrumptious. Check out the picture I posted. Overall this experience is memorable. The food is a sure winner. This restaurant is a welcome addition to the downtown food industry. I can’t wait for my next visit.

Traditional northern China I believe cuisine. Definitely different from anything else I’ve tried like this. Very good portions and the steamed meat buns are super tasty. The pot stickers are great but I recommend getting them in the soup as they needed a sauce. I didn’t get the soup. I also had the spicy ground pork dish. Again a bit dry but I added soy sauce and chili oil to compensate. Truly a unique experience for me and the food was fresh and flavorful. If you’re looking for a new flavor profile and are interested in actually tasty Chinese food not the delivery type or food court stuff I recommend this place. And it also speaks volumes when you walk in and it’s all full of people from China. We were the only 2 Caucasians in the restaurant and all of the other customers were really happy to give us their favorite dish recommendations. This place is really popular. There were people waiting for tables for up to 30 minutes and no one seemed to mind. The food speaks for itself.

Authentic Norther Chinese cuisine according to new friends who moved to Canada from Northern China a few years ago. Hand-cut noodles, dumplings. Spicy means spicy here. Take out or wait in line to eat in. This place is popular and busy!

First experience here, ordered takeout. The restaurant was busy with a lineup at 7 on a Saturday evening. The soups seemed popular in the dining room so we’ll go back soon to try some. In our order the noodles with mincemeat sauce and the dumplings were especially great. Everything tasted fresh and delicious.

Noodle Feast: The Taste of Northern China has been open for three years. I know that over time, this blog has become an outlet for what’s new and exciting in Edmonton but really, it’s actually a space for me to write about what’s excites me the most. Noodles. Noodles pull my heart(or stomach?) strings. Always have and always will! Located on the corner strip mall on 99th Street and 34th Avenue, Noodle Feast has quickly become one of my most favourite restaurants in Edmonton. Although the space has been open since 2013, it’s only recently that I made the trip south to try their famous bowls of hand-pulled noodles, a specialty that very few can claim in this city. If I’ve learned anything over the last year about Noodle Feast’s lunch time rush, it’s that you need to show up 15 minutes before the hour. The eatery opens at noon for lunch, meaning you have to duke it out with the Chinese diners at 11:45am and get ready to bolt from your car as soon as you see somebody heading to the door. Come five or ten minutes past opening and you’ve got a solid half hour to hour wait in front of you. Joe and I have been victims many times now to the dreaded wait but, in all honesty, it’s worth the wait. At 12:45pm, most of the tables for the first seating will be finishing up, freeing up space for those who patiently wait. It’s a shame that Noodle Feast can’t get rid of the three big round tables(which can seat up to 8 each) to make space for more 2 – 4 people tables. The menu might look intimidating to first-timers, a spread of different toppings to go with your noodle of choice: sliced, rolled, or hand-pulled. The hand pulled noodles(known as lamian in Chinese) is what Noodle Feast is known for. If it’s your first time visiting, I’d highly recommend giving the thicker, wider noodle a try. Fun fact: my beloved Japanese noodle soup dish, ramen, is historically disputed to have come from the Chinese lamian! Working backwards on the menu, the rolling noodles are thinner and slightly narrower than your Italian fettuccine. The sliced noodles(knife-cut) are slightly thicker and wider than its rolled cousin, both viable options if you’re not up for a carb coma from the hand-pulled noodles. Joe’s favourite is #205 Rolling Noodle in Special Sour and Spicy Soup with Pork and Vegetables. More sour than spicy, this bowl is hands down their most popular menu item. I actually like the predominantly sour notes of the dish, something different from all other noodle soup dishes in Edmonton. To quote Joe: «They’re eating #205. That table too. Everybody’s eating #205. I’m ordering #205.» He hasn’t tried anything else on the menu. On my first visit, #312 Hand Pulled Noodles, Minced Pork Sauce and Hot Chili Oil nearly had me wishing I had more self control. I can tell you that my stomach had never been so full. The chili oil isn’t overwhelmingly spicy, a good warmth and slighty numbing quality from Szechuan peppercorns. The minced pork sauce is a ragu style stir-fry poured over top of the thick(and long!) hand pulled noodles. Although considered a dry dish(no soup), the ragu mixes in with residual noodle water at the bottom of the bowl, making each strand perfectly coated once mixed. One time, I accidentally ordered #206. Spinach Rolling Noodles, Egg & Tomato Sauce, Minced Pork & Hot Chili Oil. You can imagine my surprise when all of a sudden my noodles were green. Available in limited quantities, I much preferred the thickness of the rolled noodles to the hand pulled noodles although I’m not sure if the spinach flavours were strong enough to come through. #207 Rolling Noodles, Beef and Beef Bone Broth was a nice change from my favourite ragu, a beautiful beef broth with tender braised beef. Something about this bowl’s simplicity makes it There’s a section on the Noodle Feast menu for other eats… you know, in case the full bowl of noodles wasn’t enough for you! I know that a take-out box is always my companion out of Noodle Feast’s doors so I have no qualms ordering the Chinese Chive and Pork Dumplings(14 pieces) to share. Love. The Chinese Pork Burger(or roujiamo, «meat burger») was soft on the inside, crisp and toasty on the outside and slightly messy with the drippings of pulled pork. A solid dish, although I’d prefer the pork to be better seasoned or better spiced to give it something to write home about. My final thoughts: Noodle Feast tugs on all the right strings for me. Bowls top out at $ 14.99, and portions are large. Service is basically non-existant, please come in expecting to get seated with hot tea and your basic utensils, served, and then left alone for the remainder of your meal. Pay up front when you’re done and pack your own leftovers; this is the real deal Asian dining experience. Noodle Feast + me = HEART.

Had lunch there today for the first time and had the rolling noodles in sweet and sour soup and 2 plain pancakes and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to trying some of their other dishes. Soup was spicy so no additional spices were needed and the plain pancake, like a green onion cake without the onion, was nice and hot and tasty. Nice décor and comfortable high back chairs. Service was a bit odd though as neither waiter or waitress said a word to me or made eye contact with me throughout the whole experience. They dropped the paper menu on the table that i filled the blanks onto, took it away, brought tea and then my food all without a word or a look. I went up and paid at the end again in silence and was done. I guess there’s a first for everything.

Ive been here multiple times and at different times during the day. If you go at supper, you will definitely need to go either before 530 or after 730ish unless you want to wait(sometimes the wait time can be over an hour). If you go at lunch, you will have no problems getting seated right away. Another thing to note is that the service is very slow and when it gets busy they are very disorganized. If you want service, you usually have to track a waitress down while they are waking by. Additionally, the some of the staff speak english and some of them don’t — and the ones that do, have a hard time explaining things in detail. Even though the service is not great, the food fully makes up for it. Trust me. The noodles are authentic and springy, and the sauces/broths are flavorful and rich! Try the sliced noodles with egg, tomato, pork, and hot chili oil(the option with the longest name, #113 i believe). Also, for a good noodle soup alternative, try #101!!!

Alls I can say is «Wow»!!! This is my first time here and I will definitely be back. You can tell the homemade Chinese noodle dishes are made with love. And the sauces are rich and flavourful. Simple and tasty and very authentic!

Worth the drive down to Noodle Feast– an unassuming little restaurant. They have hand-pulled noodles here and authentic northern Chinese fair. We ordered the hand-pulled beef noodles(dry), and the hand-pulled noodles in a pork broth. Both were delicious but the noodles were HUMUNGOUS and very long. I think the sliced noodle, or the rolling noodle might have been easier to eat.

Feast on some noodles at Noodle Feast! Last week I had the chance to try my first Northern Chinese restaurant Noodle Feast, and I definitely was not disappointed. There’s not very many places(or any other places that I know of) where you can get really authentic Northern Chinese food. This places primarily focuses around three of their house-made noodles: Sliced noodles, rolled noodles, and hand-pulled noodles. Each of these three come with similar variation of sauces and meats. They also have a few other things like house-made pork-burger, dumplings, and rice. It’s located south of Edmonton, in a small little strip mall. There’s tons of parking in this parking lot, so that is always a plus. When I went here last week with Jessy, the place was packed. She was telling me how when this place first opened, the wait times were around 1 – 2 hours! It was completely full of chinese people all speaking Mandarin, which is always a good sign. I wanted to definitely try their hand-pulled noodle, and we also decided to try the rolled noodles. One of the noodle dishes that we went with was the #213, Rolling noodles with egg & tomato sauce, minced pork sauce, and hot chili oil. One thing that I will say is that the portion sizes here are huuuge! You get so much food for only twelve dollars. This dish was pretty good! The noodles had a really good texture and tasted really good. The pork was really well seasoned and overall, this was pretty decent. One thing that I will say though is that it was a bit heavy. The hot chili oil made it a little bit too greasy and oily for my taste, and I felt that the meat/noodle ratio wasn’t great, but overall the flavours were really good. I didn’t manage to finish my food any way! The other dish that we got was #305, Hand-pulled noodles with pork ribs and pork bone soup. This was probably my favourite out of the two. Hand-pulled noodles win hands down over rolled noodles. The noodles were really good. They had a really great texture and consistency. The pork ribs were really tender. The broth for this dish was a little bit on the bland side, but that’s nothing that a little bit of chili oil can’t fix. I really enjoyed this dish, and I recommend trying any of the hand-pulled noodles! Another dish we got was #523, steamed cold noodles. This came with long noodles, beansprouts, eggs, and cucumber. This was a really nice dish, and really light. I enjoyed this dish maybe more than my other entrée. The cucumber gives it a really nice a light touch. I need to come back here and try their pork burger and their dumplings! Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Noodle feast! You can definitely tell that a lot of effort goes into making all of the noodles. It’s really authentic and great quality of food for a really good price. I definitely recommend giving this place a try if you’re looking for some authentic Northern Chinese food, or if you’re just a really huge fan of noodles of all kinds. Again, definitely give the hand-tossed noodles a try!

This place is AMAZING! The noodles are made in-house, and the food is incredible. You know you’ve found a gem in an ethnic restaurant when you enter and nearly everybody in the restaurant is of that ethnicity… that is the case here. Totally recommend the food here — it can get busy, so consider take-out if you’re not willing to wait in line.

After we walked out of Ipho due to poor customer service, we went next door to Noodle Feast where the customer service was good. Our servers– only two of them– were pleasant and quick. It was our first time there so we weren’t sure what to expect, except noodles. After looking around at everyone else’s food– the serving sizes were huge-we decided to share a bowl of noodles and get pork and chive dumplings. The soup we ordered had beef and beef bone broth. I’ll be honest, I love soups but I’m not a noodle person. The noodles were pretty good but there was way too much noodle and very little meat. The pork and chive dumplings however were the bomb. It was a good experience but noodles aren’t really my thing. Noodle Feast was packed so it is a very popular place for noodle lovers and I’d recommend it.

There was a wait but the food was so good that we didn’t mind. It was so good that we took a menu so as to mark the items eaten, with the plan to eat our way through the menu. It is that good! The pork bun was a miss with $ 7.50 for one small, bland, bun, but all else was delicious. Ordering was a bit of a crapshoot as there’s not much in the way of description, but what we ordered was exactly what we were looking for. I think that the freshness of the noodles is what pushes this place from good to spectacular. The chili oil with sesame seeds in little jars on each table is highly addictive.

So, on a whim, my boyfriend and I came here tonight(Sunday evening) around 6:00 pm to find the small restaurant full! Happily there was one table for 2 left that we were immediately directed to. I only know of what I read from other reviewers, but this restaurant serves up handmade noodles in its noodle-centric dishes. You are given a long white piece of paper(which turns out to be the entire menu) plus a pen. And based on the basic descriptions you are supposed to be able to decipher which dishes you’d like by marking them with a pen. No photos are provided nor any descriptors from the servers. Having never been here before, I thought it would be a great idea to check off one noodle item from each of the 3 different noodle types. I chose the hand pulled noodles with beef in a beef bone soup; the sliced noodles with minced pork, and to round out the noodle dishes, I ordered the rolled noodles with beef(no soup). Also, I decided to add on an order of the pork & chive dumplings(14 in total!!) plus an order of their popular Chinese bbq pork burger. Had I known how HUGE the portions were going to be, I never would’ve dared to order as many dishes as I had for the two of us. The servers never bothered to stop and describe any of the dishes for us nor warn us that we were probably ordering enough food for 5! But the service is another story. The food came out quickly, and before we knew it our small little table for two was filled with large bowl after large bowl and dish after dish of items we ordered. We had to laugh as the tables around us stared curiously at all the dishes we ordered! In any case, I only had enough room to try three of the dishes before I tapped out. All were pretty great! The minced pork with sliced noodles, the hand pulled noodles with beef in beef soup, and the pork & chive dumplings were yummy. I didn’t have any room to attempt even a bite of the bbq pork burger, nor the last dish to arrive, the rolled noodles with beef. Needless to say, we ended packing up everything as we were unsuccessful at polishing off even one dish! Hahaha… Yay for leftovers I guess!(We’ll see how they hold up in the next couple days) The service is pretty lacking. You are seated, given a menu and a bowl filled with your teacup & soup spoon; a pot of tea and 4 of the cheapest little napkins you see at like cafeterias. You have to shove the menu in one of the two attendant’s faces as they won’t willingly come back to see if you’re done choosing. They drop off the food as it comes, but don’t return to ask how it tastes or if anything else is needed. And when it comes to pack up leftovers, they just bring you the boxes(not the right ones I might add) and expect you to pack it all up yourself. But hey, it’s a Chinese restaurant so those things are to be expected I guess. I grew up eating at Chinese restaurants but this place takes the cake for poor service. Thankfully the prices of the dishes more than make up for the service discrepancy. I would recommend this place to try out if you’re looking for a hearty meal and craving some good chewy noodles.

Surprised to see criticism of the prices on here — I found the portions large, and most dishes were $ 8-$ 12 for a whole lot of insanely delicious food. Totally a good value place. The noodles were delicious, all the flavours were spot-on. Glad to have found this place, it’s a new favourite! Only complaint would be that the service was virtually non-existent. I have no idea if it’s supposed to be counter service or not, but we did end up going up to the counter because no one came by after seating to explain anything.

You know when you read your favourite food blog site and they start it off by saying«I debated whether to tell you about this hole in the wall/gem that I found». Well, that’s exactly how I feel as I write this post up. Sorry(not sorry) — the secrets out on Noodle Feast. We went to check out Noodle Feast on a Sunday evening and the place was bumping! 99% of people were Asian and all speaking mando, which is always a really, really good sign. The place is small(and you guessed it, has hard seats). They could easily pack more tables in(they should really fix there layout to maximize capacity — it’s called operations management, duhhh) but there are only two staff working tables so maybe that’s not the greatest idea. The menu consists of a whooping grand total of one page(another good sign) where you tick off what you want to order. They had a lot of things crossed out, HANDPULLEDNOODLES being one of them, which was super disappointing. Will have to try those out for sure next time. Moral of story — go early. We ordered: — Chinese chive and pork dumplings($ 10.95) — you get 14 delicious, made with love, and oh so tender dumpling goodness. Seriously, they were that good — best I’ve had in Edmonton(note — not including XLB’s which are a completely different beast). Order this immediately! — Sliced noodle served with minced pork sauce and hot chili oil($ 11.95) — I was pleasantly surprised that there was vegetables in our dish! The noodles, hot chili oil, pork and chili flecks all worked together to give you a delicious, slightly burning/numb sensation. Probably not the best way to describe it but it was goooooooooooooooooood. — Diced pancake stew in lamb soup($ 16.95) — only served on the weekends so I wanted to try one of their speciality dishes. The«diced pancake» was different, I actually have no idea why it’s called that. The lamb was tasty though and the broth, while simple, grew on me after each bite. — Soy milk glass($ 2.00) — my friend kept on hearing everyone ordering this so we gave it a shot. I didn’t think it was that special but it tasted different than your normal soy milk. Slightly sweeter and rice based. Good if you can’t handle heat — so maybe get this if you order the noodles with hot chili oil. Anyways, I can’t say how happy I am that I found this place. It reminds me of this awesome, hole in the wall that serves similar northern Chinese food in Montréal that I frequented all the time(Maison du Nord). It’s as close a find that I’ll get here in Edmonton — I’ll take what I can get.

Opened recently, the sign outside says Boss, Taste of Asia, while the receipts read Noodle Feast — A Taste of Northern China. I’m not sure of its name, but either way, it’s a great place to eat. This little gem features dishes from northern China, so it’s not your typical Chinese eatery in Edmonton. There is no sweet and sour pork, no lemon chicken, etc. China, like most places, has a wide variety of regional cuisine. In the south, like the area around Hong Kong, sweet tends to be more popular, as are rice dishes. In the north, where rice is difficult to grow, wheat noodles are more popular, and the flavours tend towards salty, not sweet. If you want handmade fresh noodles, then this is the place to go. They specialize in handmade noodles — if you come too late, you might be told that they are out of noodles and that you should come back in an hour or two after they have made some more! We had a a couple of great dishes here. The first was a bowl of shredded noodles in a beef broth that was rich and delicious. Unlike most watered down soups at other places, this one was flavourful and reminded me of a beef gravy because of its rich beef taste(though not in consistency — it was still a broth). The beef was also so tender that it just fell apart and melted in my mouth. The other main dish was a cold spicy salad that those familiar with Sichuan cooking will know — rice noodles, veggies and a spicy sauce that will knock your socks off. The heat starts off slow, but by the end, it’s a raging inferno! Last but definitely not least was roujiamou(Chinese Pork burger on the menu), which is basically a Chinese hamburger. It’s a small bun, similar to naan bread, stuffed with pork and flavoured with cilantro and other spices. I first had one in Chinatown in Toronto, then again in Xian, China. They can be messy, but are fantastic. This one wasn’t quite as good as the ones I’ve had in China, but it was still very good. The bun was soft on the inside, toasted on the outside, and the pork was tender and flavourful. Frankly, I’m surprised more Chinese restaurants don’t offer it. If you love Chinese cuisine, but aren’t interested in sweet and sour pork or chicken balls, then try this place out.
