My boyfriend and I saw this place when we visited the Thai Orchid restaurant. We decided to have ice cream before dinner so we wouldn’t miss it if it closed after dinner. I highly recommend the cherry custard ice cream– it was amazingly good. Ice cream is a bit pricey– I’m used to buying a single serving and being served soup bowl sized ice cream when I’m working near Duchess(visit Tempo). However, there are some really special flavours here, so it’s worth it!

Full disclosure: I am not an ice cream fanatic like many people are. I appreciate a little bit of ice cream sometimes, and it’s usually Ben & Jerry’s cookie dough or cherry Garcia. Given that, I still enjoyed this place. It’s basically a food truck parked on the east(right) side of Gateway in an empty lot, across the mall where the Paderno outlet and Canadian tire is, before the Sawridge Inn. Their website said they closed early but on a recent Friday evening(around 9:15pm) they were still open. I noticed that they had a sign with summer hours on the way out but wasn’t able to snap a pic. As I recall, a single scoop is $ 4, a double scoop $ 6, and $ 1 extra for a waffle cone. I had the black cherry ice cream and my husband the cookie dough. Both were fine, not great. The cookie dough had a faint maple taste to it which was unusual. The cherry ice cream had lots of cherries in it but it wasn’t the best I’ve ever had. However, I do like that there are 80 flavour choices… There is a lack of good ice cream places in Edmonton and this place is worth checking out for the choices alone. I’d come back but only if I was in the area.

What a great place! The only reason for losing one star is the location. It’s WELL worth the hassle, but it still needed to be acknowledged. I had a chance to visit this ice cream shack/trailer/food truck for the first time this evening after following them on facebook all last summer and never stopping by. I also had a chance to chat with the owner for a bit as it was a little slow when I was there. They’re not quite at a full 80 flavours just yet, but she assured me that she was bringing more in very soon. I was quite content with the choices that were available and had a hard time narrowing it down. I can’t imagine if there had been more! They hope to be able to expand this year and open a second location(either a fixed location or a roving one for special events). The owner is really sweet and has all the details of her flavours packed in her brain. She answers all the questions quickly and offers great suggestions! For my first visit I went with the«cheeky monkey» frozen yogurt which is a mixture of strawberry and banana with chocolate chunks. Delicious! I would definitely get it again, but not until I make it through the rest of the menu. There’s obviously a great variety… but it’s not just ice cream. They also offer frozen yogurt, sorbet, and sherbet. Prices are great… $ 4 for a single, $ 6 for a double, and an extra dollar for a waffle cone. The«single» fills an entire styro cup though, so you get a lot for your money.

This place is awesome! Prices are great! And if you love ice cream(and who doesn’t!) this is the place to go! Last night i had the red velvet, and salted chocolate caramel ice cream. Double scoop, two flavours. The red velvet ice cream, was to die for! It had pieces of cake in it, and you could taste the cream cheese in the ice cream. It was delicious! Sadly the salted chocolate caramel, just tasted like chocolate ice cream. I think from the richness of the red velvet ice cream, all i could taste was chocolate. This little food truck is great, only down fall is it located quite far. If you don’t have a car, its very hard to get too. But i bet its easy to bribe a friend with a car to take you there, to buy them ice cream.
