We dealt with CK as the last leg in moving our household from Ontario to Vancouver. We needed the delivery split over two locations, but on the morning of the day we got a belligerent call from the driver refusing to do it. He suggested we come to the storage place(an hour away) to pre-sort it for an additional«$ 700 at $ 100/hour». We rearranged things to allow a one-point delivery. They gave us a projected delivery time of 13:00 to 16:00. At 13:00 we called to check, and they said they didn’t have a truck ready … but«any minute now» they would. At 14:00, they started loading a truck. It took them an hour to get downtown, but they went to the wrong address. It took another half an hour for them to come to the right address. Then they started unloading. It was evident from looking at the interior of the truck that they had taken no care with loading. Numerous boxes crushed, furniture piled haphazardly on top of items clearly tagged with«fragile» tape and stickers, ripstop bags torn open, heavy-duty zippers opened and left that way. The unloading was done without care. Boxes already crushed were further damaged by having heavy items piled on top of them. Everything thrown and dropped. No respect for«this side up» or «fragile» stickers. When asked to slow down and take some care the response was«your boxes have given us too much trouble». When we started unpacking and assessing the damage we found that very nearly every piece of furniture had been dented, scratched, or broken outright. Many fragile things smashed, some of them of some value, which items had been triple-packed. A metal toolbox, strong enough to support a 280 lb man, had been crushed and deformed. It’s hard to imagine how that could happen accidentally; it gives every appearance of deliberate damage. We suggest that if at all possible, you avoid dealing with this company.
