Probably my favorite Tim Hortons location. Located right at the Alderney ferry terminal, it’s just so convenient to get a quick cuppa’ joe or something else to enjoy while waiting for the ferry. Their hours of operation leave a little to be desired at times. Occasionally, I’ve gone through and they were closed.

Back to the basics… I like that. I come from Los Angles where it takes 3 minutes to recite a single order of coffee: I’ll have a latte soy venti mochiato with a shot of espresso no froth little ice 2 splenda and low fat cream no sugar… I mean seriously… are those even selection buttons on the register? «Timmy’s» as I’ve learned to call it… «Large Double Double please»… Done. That’s 2 cream 2 sugar. Actually I’m sticking more and more to straight up black coffee, so my large black for about a buck fifty… I’m ok with that! Funny story though… I do in fact usually get iced black coffee from Starbucks… so when I asked for this order at Timmy’s they gave me a frappuccino. When I corrected her, and told her all I wanted was my large black coffee and ice, she looked at me as if I had testicles on my forehead… culture differences. Also, I love the turkey sandwich on the sun-dried tomato bagel… this ish is DELISH in the morning.

Some days there is nothing better to do than grab a tea and sail across the harbour. Thankfully, someone thought to put a Tim Hortons in the Alderney ferry terminal. Even better, someone thought to hire and train employees who are both fast and friendly. Of course, even with hard-working employees, this is a popular spot and you should expect that a line will await you upon arrival. Do not assume that you can show up two minutes before the ferry’s departure and grab a cup for the ride.

I’m American, this is one of the three things that I like about Canada. I enjoy the doughnut holes that Tim H. serves up… ESP after many cocktails and you are in desperate need of good grease and coffee. Tim H. is way better than star bucks…1 million times better.

If you care to see efficiency at its finest, head over to the Alderney ferry terminal and order a coffee and doughnut. The folks working at this coffee shop are forced by the ferry to work at break neck speeds. Very impressive bunch. I personally have a strong dislike for the taste of Tim’s but the tim bits can be just that sugar surge you needed to get back home across the pond.

If you want to see a difference in customer service, simply start in Halifax, order a cup of coffee at the Tim Hortons located at the Ferry Terminal. Then take the Ferry over to Dartmouth and order a coffee at the Tim Hortons at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal. I’d say the Dartmouth side is about ten times better. The Tim Hortons at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal seems to always have friendly, outgoing staff. I have seen them work quite slowly before which drives me nuts. But their friendliness and upbeat sense of humor is a refreshing change from the personalities at the Halifax Ferry Terminal. Of course they have almost the same amount of products that any other Tim Hortons has. And the quality is definitely the same. The best part is, they let you take your coffee and food onto the Ferry with you. So you can enjoy an «Everything Bagel» with herb and garlic cream cheese while cruising into downtown Halifax. Its the best way to begin or end your day if you ask me. Cruising in the Halifax harbor, while eating or drinking something from Tim Hortons. I wanted to review this Tim Hortons because of its customer service. The staff there seem to be consistently helpful, fun and polite. They do tend to be a little on the slow side when it comes to getting the orders done. But their friendly attitudes always make me forget how long I was waiting for my order.
