I’ve tried their Sho bu Don and Mama Donkatsu, and both are very good! Probably the best looking and tasty donburi I’ve had in Tri-cities. Big portion for the price. Will definitely come back for donburi!(Not sure about the ramen though.)

New ramen place in Henderson Place, just beside the coffee shop. Menu has a good variety of ramen, donburi and sushis. I got the bbq chicken negi ramen. Presentation was nice. It had sliced raw onions on. top and it came with half boiled egg. Egg was cooked perfectly. The noodles were good too. But the broth was just so so. The chicken was good but didn’t taste much of the bbq. Next time, maybe I’ll try the chashu ramen. Service was good. The server kept refilling our tea. The place is small but nice.

Sho Bu had its grand opening just a month prior. Although it’s across from Makoto Ramen(these two probably being the only ramen places I know of in Coquitlam), I don’t think there’ll be much competition between them. By that, I’m not saying that one is better than the other. They’re both equally good ramen restaurants, but I felt that the process of making ramen and soup was handled differently at either one — by a lot. I guess, ultimately, it’s just a matter of what flavour of ramen you’re looking for, how salty you want it, and how you want your meat served. There are some ramen I would rather not order again here, and some that I would most definitely the next chance I get. Chashu Ramen is my favourite. I prefer not to have my ramen salty. The soup and meat weren’t heavy. This portion was just right, while the other two ramen I tasted were too salty and too big portion-wise. Next time, I’ll stick to just having Chashu Ramen. Sho Bu is a really small restaurant. From what I recall, I didn’t see more than four separate tables. Since it recently opened this fall, it would be better to call ahead about seating.

Good ramen. Good portions. Not bad for around $ 10 per bowl of ramen. service is good. Flavorful broth. I heard a microwave in the back which is a big no no. May or may not come back.
