People said a lot of bad things about Hon’s — bad service, bad food and expensive. As matter of fact it is not true at all. I was amazed at how authentic and tasteful of food. We ordered few regular dishes like fried rice and various chow mein, all turned out to be great. We even ordered some to go when we are on the run. If you like Chinese bbq, they have various items like roasted ducks, soy sauce chicken, boba pork, etc.

Was very excited. Saturday night feast! Finally, after many trips thru Unilocal,I found a great Chinese spot with delivery. And it’s right here in Coquitlam! yes! So we spent about 20 minutes rolling thru their online website. YUMYUMYUM Gave them a call for delivery of our $ 60 order… it was like a slap in the face… we live to far away. what? it’s about 10 minutes away. Lougheed Highway to King Albert Ave. A crow could fly it in 7. VERYVERYDISAPPOINTED and since I do not drive a vehicle and I do not plan on moving, I guess I’ll never get to to have Hon’s. Sad.

Great service from the staff here. Seated with a menu within 30 seconds of entering. Food come fast and very tasty. BBQ pork on rice and potstickers are worth it. Other menu items such as Curry beef w/potatoes on rice is another favorite. Price is decent.

Boy you order roast pork and a bbq duck dish on rice and you don’t get any crispy skin on the pork. They cut it like a triangle so the top has no skin at all. Service is very slow. Had to flag the cashier to get another glass of tea while waiting. The rice was cold and rock hard. How does that happen? Boy this place has sure changed since the last time I was here Not even very busy any more

The food is exceptional. The house special chow mein with crispy noodles, conjee with sliced pork and century egg, minced beef and cilantro soup, curry beef brisket with potatoes, BBQ duck, Shanghai noodles, chow fun, potstickers, wontons, squid with spicy salt, gai lan with oyster sauce… Very consistent food quality over the years. The location in Coquitlam is my favorite one. I have eaten there so many times and I will continue to until the end of time

We’ve been eating here off and on for over 20 years. Too bad their food has declined in the past few years… change in ownership? Gave it another shot today and was really disappointed again as the wontons tasted really weird and some of their dishes just aren’t the same any more. It’s not as busy anymore… another bad sign I guess.

Pretty decent food here, and the prices are very good compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Their potstickers are quite popular and you can order them cooked in a variety of ways. Personally, I love their BBQ’d meats(pork and duck especially) as well as their noodles. The service is very efficient as well. Great place for a quick, cheap meal!

Congee, noodles, and wontons. These are the basis of Chinese comfort food. Now bearing in mind that Hon’s has really westernized its menu for the gwai los, there are still a lot of staples that are still authentic. Take for instance the humble bowl of congee or «jook» as known by Cantonese speakers. This plain, simple, bowl of rice porridge, topped with any of the several options provided, is the epitome of authentic Chinese cuisine. Originally consumed by peasants who didn’t have enough rice to go around, added a bit more water to make this creamy rice porridge(kind of like a poor man’s risotto). But man does it ever hit the spot when you’ve got a cold! It’s easy to eat and digest and will pick you up off the floor if you’re feeling lousy or hungover or sick and turn that frown upsidedown. My favourite is pork and century egg jook and if you’re up for the challenge of «century egg»(not really that old but has an acquired taste/texture), Hon’s is a great place to give it a try.

Hon’s Wun-Tun House is the place to go to if you want good quality Chinese food at reasonable price! Most of their menu are ranging from $ 5~$ 15 and a huge portion! One order of the $ 6 Beef Brisket Noodle Soup can feed at least 2 people. Their Beef Congee was really good too. And the Chinese Donuts as a topping for the Congee, very yummy! We also tried their Stir Fried Shanghai Noodles with Chicken Juliennes & Green Beans in Spicy Bean Sauce! There’s so much variety to chose from. We’ve been coming to this place and the downtown Vancouver location as well for so many years now. Still my favourite Chinese food place!

It hasn’t changed much over the years but I don’t come often enough to really notice anyways. Service is always the same… Minimal but adequate. Food is generally pretty consistent. Things that stand out for me are always the potstickers and chow mein where their crispy noodles are pretty hard to beat. I think they might deep-fry them. I’ve had many other things over the years and I can’t really say that any of them are bad but nothing else really stands out as exceptional. Not sure why some people are bashing the prices. Food prices have gone up everywhere and across the board. Have you tried to buy grapes lately at the supermarket? Geez… It’s a pretty simple Chinese joint. If you’re expecting anything beyond that, you’ll be disappointed.

Always hit or miss. Fams has been going to Hons for over 25 years. The Richmond location has been shut down couple years after new rich owner purchased the business and fired all old chefs as well as servers. The wonton is good between 12−330pm after that, it’s watered down and you’ll need to douce it with soya sauce and chili oil! curry beef brisket, with potato on rice is always good though. Prices went up, portions went smaller. Would give 4 if old workers were around and not rude new servers who can’t even get a order or wonton soup right, and don’t apologize after spilling hot tea everywhere!

I was a loyal customer for 13 yrs. It is a tragedy that my former go-to Chinese restaurant had turned into the dark side. It was during the summer where I decided to order take out from there for my lunch break. I ordered the BBQ pork on rice & requested extra meat for my order because I felt like endulging myself that day. I of course understand that there is an extra $ 3.00 charge and I said«No problem». I picked it up 15 mins later & went back to work to have my meal. I opened the take out container and I was shocked & appalled to see that they had not given me my extra serving of meat. I let it go because work was crazy busy & I couldn’t waste anytime going back there & ask for the extra meat since I’m pressed for time at work. In my mind, we are only human. It’s probably an honest mistake & I’m ok with it. 2 weeks past & I decided to order take out from there again since I’ve been craving BBQ on rice again. I phoned & ordered it & again requested extra serving of meat. The lady that I was talking to that took my order had a reassuring answer of «No problem, ready in 10min». Ok so I went there to pick it up. And as I paid for my meal, I decided to check if they did add the extra meat this time. Just to prove my doubts as wrong. And to my surprise, it still looked like a regular order. I showed them my order & told them that I had asked for extra meat but my order looks like it’s a regular order. The man that helped me replied«that is with extra meat.» And right there & then. let’s just say I called him on his BS, they gave me my extra meat & went back to work & ate my meal w/feeling really bitter & distaste for what had just happened. Shameful indeed where this place had gone. The quality of food had changed as well as the portions had shrunk. And to charge your customers $ 0.10 for chilli oil sauces is just madness. Shame on you.

This was a mixed bag. So I’ll list both the good and the bad: Their signature Wonton noodle-in-soup…something is very different about the wonton they used here. It’s no longer the more shrimp-based wonton, and much more of pork. It’s not as good as it used to be, or at least compared to the New West or formerly Richmond location(long closed down). So I think I’ll be ordering some other noodle-in-soup next time, as the egg noodles and the soup still tasted as expected. The beef rice noodle was surprisingly pretty good, considering how easy it is to mess that dish up. So this was definitely OK. The pork-pan-fried dumplings(another signature)…well there we go, well done indeed, and in a way hard to mess up. So in the end a so-so place. But hey what happened to the wonton? Did they change suppliers? Or something?

There is nothing left on my plate! We had lunch here after my love got a craving for these amazing noodles. He had eaten here before and we were passing by. We stopped in and order three things. A crispy noodle dish with chicken and oyster sauce, some wonton soup, and some sweet and sour deep fried cod. All dishes were awesome. We are now stuffed and will be back. The service was spot on as well, with very friendly smiles as we walked in, through our meal, and as we left. Thanks for a great lunch!

Been eating here for 20 years. Nobody has better crispy noodles than Hon’s! The lunch service was very fast and friendly. Over the years Hon’s has its ups and downs, but this family run restaurant keeps me coming back for more.

This is one of my favourite places to go to good, cheap Chinese food in the TriCities. They are always quick, the food is fresh, hot and, generally, VERY consistent. My boyfriend and I actually visit Hon’s when we are in a rush, that is how quick they are! It is very rare that the process of ordering until food on your table takes longer than 6 minutes. Personal favourites: — House Chow Mein — Beef and Broccoli — Yeung Chow-style Fried Rice — Deep Fried Squid with Spicy Rock Salt — Lemon Chicken — Chicken Potstickers They also have quick and free delivery services available, which is great for those nights you don’t want to go out.
