John Fluevog

I seriously love all my Fluevogs so so much. I have over 40 pairs of these, collected from the 90’s till now.
I love the Calgary store because it’s the closest to Edmonton– but come on John. Build an Edmonton store and I’ll work for you forever! Converting a friend to Fluevog is a valuable skill that I’ve got!
The staff in Calgary are super nice and friendly! Every time I go in they are willing and able to bring out dozens of shoes for me to try and decide which will be the ones to go home with me. I really like seeing which vogs THEY are wearing, and I’ve definitely copied them in their style choices. The store is pretty big, you can get lost in it because there are 3 floors. Not all for shoes, sometimes downstairs they have a gallery and upstairs is a shoe museum! Pretty swanky. And a cute vending machine that sells canadian handmade goods!
I really respect canadian designers especially when they have been in the business for so long with growing success. I prefer to shop in person at a Fluevog store or online so that 100% of my hard earned money will go to the Designer. Yes, they sell Fluevogs at Gravity pope in Edmonton but that’s wholesale and I would rather see my money go to someone I respect. That might sound weird but I’m speaking as a designer myself and the more $$$ I spend and the more shoes I buy the bigger John Fluevog can expand and make other people happy with unique shoes in the future.

Ok, I wasn’t going to review because @Fluevog is already known for their great shoes, service and quality and I felt I really didn’t have much to add. However… Credit where credit is due and since I am always looking for the elusive, elite customer service experience when I get it I need to share.
We went into the Calgary store a few months ago on a Sat for my hubs to grab a couple of pairs he had his eye on. There were a fair amount of people in the store, but we were still greeted and helped within a few minutes once we had a chance to peruse the store. He was more than happy to grab the sizes my hubs needed and in multiple styles. He was easy going and very helpful. (Shay!)
As my hubs was being helped I found a pair of Revelations that I fell in love with and had to have (they look fabulous with a black pencil skirt or skinny jeans and everything else I own!) These shoes are gorgeous with the softest leather and fit true to size in length but are super narrow so I had to go up a half size to a 7.5. I was offered toe inserts (free of charge) so my heel didn’t move around in the shoe.
Soooo, I got these babies home and took them directly to Vegas with me~ was I ever cute! But… Because they were so narrow the inside bone just below my big toe was rubbing and really hurt after doing some walking. I took them back to the store to have them stretched and the same rep who sold these to me knew exactly what I was talking about and offered to stretch them a bit for me. I left them at the store since it was a busy Saturday again. I was supposed to pick them up within a couple of days but couldn’t find the time to run downtown right away so they had them shipped directly to me at home.
I have great looking shoes that are now comfortable and, experienced the elite customer service I am always seeking.

My love for Fluevogs is well-​documented and goes back over a decade. I’m up to 8 or so pairs at the moment (and have begrudgingly parted with a few more along the way — RIP!).
Fluevog’s shoes are quality-​made, and most importantly, strikingly unique. They take risks, and I love that in fashion. Not enough shoe stores offer this sense of adventure!
As much as I wish there was a Fluevog store in my hometown of Edmonton, Calgary is a damn sight more accessible than my favourite store in Gastown, Vancouver!
This was my first visit to the Calgary store, and I was very impressed. The industrial/​warehouse feel of the space is reminiscent of the Gastown location, and the selection is just as grand.
The feature that sets this space apart, though, is the presence of the Fluevog museum! The entire upper floor contains an array of historic and contemporary ‘Vogs (including the ill-​fated and spectacular Grand Nationals!). I was very intrigued by the vintage pairs on display at the museum, and can’t wait to see what happens as Fluevog expands the displays and integrates more of John’s art into the space.
From what I understand, the space can be offered for events/​meetings, too. Neat!
The staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful at this location, offering knowledge on how the leather would age/​patina, and sizing advice.
I will be back here on each of my future trips to Calgary; gods help my wallet!

Very unique shoes @fluevog. The company has a great vision and supports its employee’s creative endeavors. The staff in the Calgary store are all very friendly and well managed. The store layout is well done, it makes me want to live there!
There is a public space that can be booked for events and a gallery space that can be a place for artists to show their work.
Did I mention the shoes are amazing?

I started buying Fluevogs in 1988 at their Toronto store and haven’t regretted a pair yet. When they opened in Calgary I was beyond excited, no more buying without trying or waiting til I travelled to a city with a store. Although I would and have totally booked a holiday to a city simply because they had a store! um hello Portland, Seattle, Vancouver!
The Calgary store is a great layout and has really friendly helpful staff. My husband was having some fit issues with a pair of boots he bought in Portland and the sales woman recommended new insoles. She gave him the insoles without charge.
I also appreciate their honest answers, does this shoe flatter my foot?, No! No high pressure sales, they don’t need to, these shoes sell themselves.
I’m now on pair 8 with my oldest being from 1988 as I mentioned. Still in great shape and I expect to put them in my will because they will last that long!

Fluevogs are unique. When you see them, you know they are Fluevogs. They are also extremely comfortable. Today was my first visit to the new-​ish store in Calgary. Great service! In fact, I ended up going back a second time (a few hours after the first) to buy another pair of shoes to match the cocktail dress I just bought. The lady that helped me was awesome & helped me find the right pair. No rush, no begging for service. Refreshing in Calgary!
