The moving team was friendly and courteous. The team also contacted me to advise they were going to be a bit late, which reassured us that we should have no worries as we will be well taken care of. Will definitely use again.

They showed up on time for the move, which is the only good thing I can say about this company. Moving our stuff from a two bedroom/third floor apartment proved to be too much, for two movers, especially for the elderly guy, which talked and took more rest breaks than he worked. I felt bad that he wasn’t physically able to do the job and helped a bit myself. Later I thought WTF, as I also paid for an unscheduled 30 min break for this guys in the AM, with their loafing around/talking more than they worked, plus I had to help. The move took along time for nominal amount of stuff, as you might imagine… like they intentionally bled it out, to make more $$. Incidentally, when our furniture arrived at the other end some of it was damaged, surprise, surprise, I thought. I let most of it slide, being generally a nice guy, but our couch had a huge tear in it, which I had to put a claim in for. To get the additional insurance I paid $ 80, and was told the damaged couch would be replaced at fair market value by the claim person Candy. In any event, when we did put in the claim she argued tooth and nail with me about it, refusing to replace it, and choosing some hack company in Airdrie to patch it up. These contractors further disturbed us by taking the couch offsite not once, but twice for the repair; not to mention the time I had to take off work to accommodate them. On top of it they charged us another $ 100 for a deductible on the repair(alot of moving companys’ will straight up replace damaged items free of charge, and without the BS, come to find out). Truth be told, it appears they made money on the claim, as the repair was obviously cheaply done. Even if their rate is appealing, you will pay more at the end of the day, without question. With these movers, their ripping off, dog f’n, and the companys’ underhandedness; you’d be a fool to choose ‘Highland Movers’.

From start to finish(Daisy, Melanie and the movers themselves(Terry, Cory, Justin)), everyone was very helpful to me. I haven’t moved in 15 years and have never used a moving company. Everyone was very understanding about what might have been«silly» questions. The movers even arrived a bit early and it all went much faster than I’d expected. I guess the«key factor» for me, then, was the customer service.

Pricing was competitive but as soon as the movers showed up the wheels fell off and I’d wished I’d paid more for someone better. They didn’t load on priority after I clearly stated I only wanted to take a 20′ container. They waited until the end of the day to tell me that they, «figured it wouldn’t all fit from the time they’d arrived but not to worry, we’ll just put it in another container. You’re not paying for it.» I’m not sure how they came to make the bold assumption that I wasn’t paying for my own move? No chance of repacking the container, it was 15:30 and they were out of there! Miller Time, yay. No big deal I thought. We can go to the yard in the morning and help them repack it to fit the few key items that didn’t fit. Nope, coordinator took three days to return my call and then the container was on it’s way to the dock. An extra $ 3800 and 6 months later… the rest of our BED finally arrives along with other obscure bits that were essential parts to half built furniture. The $ 80.00 bill from Australia quarantine was a nice kicker after the mover told me to put down the garden hose and don’t worry about the little bit of dirt on my bike tire which was previously overlooked. Two stars because there was no major damage to anything except my wall.
