Let’s talk about Hawkers. What is Hawkers Market? Every time I try to describe it to someone blank question marks hover above their heads. Eventually I’ll give up and just say«there’s going to be food and drinks. It’s going to be good. Bring your sexy stretchy pants.» I’ve lost count of how many pop up markets Hawkers have had in Calgary. Not because I’ve been to so many and they’ve hosted that many, but because I have a short attention span and memory that can’t keep up it’s inscribing process. Ugh I’m doing it again aren’t I? rambling on in a review that gets useless by the sentence. The last market was held in Commonwealth, the place where people in their early 20’s go to traumatize themselves, or dance to cool hip-hop beats and drink old fashioned like I do. I love events at the Commonwealth, the space is open with plenty of room to wander about. I wish I could see Eats of Asia everywhere. Working near the farmers market isn’t’ enough, maybe they’ll expand, possibly just beside my bedroom. But amazing food as always, in three trips we covered EoA’s menu: Baos, Laksa, and Dan Dan noodles. Hmmm, I can’t seem to locate the vendor list for Hawkers Market. I know my bodyguard was bananas over the duck confit pâté crostinis(which I now have been tasked to make) and the Vanilla at Fiasco gelatto. But there was also a sushi/sashimi vendor there. I’m terrible with names and memory. 100 of me could defeat the purpose of a pop-up market. BUT, I do remember that being as a Unilocaler and having Unilocal involved mean getting the admission fee waived off. Victory.
