I think I found my new go to sushi place! Brown rice is a must for my GF and I, which they have. I do take out from them at least once a week and never once felt disappointed. It is very well priced for what i order(4 rolls and 1 dish under $ 25). I just wish they give more wasabi haha. Parking is quite limited, maybe max 3 cars at the front and the rest are on the side street.

They have always been my favorite but their portions have shrunken considerably. Take out doesn’t have the same quality.

Score 3.5 for food. Service 4. Atmosphere 4. Clean overall look except bathroom needs improvement. A new welcome addition to the neighborhood. This restaurant is run by Mandarin speaking staff. The special roll ie Phoenix roll was great. The assorted sushi platter was good with exception of the cooked prawn ebi. The rice was slightly vinegary. Price point is competitive. Seating in the booth was comfy. The restaurant was not overly busy for Friday night. The name when I first drive by looked like only Sushi. But it’s artsy Y looked like a bird. It gives Nao a bit of competition. A few years away from having busy high rise building across the street. This area is in transition. Worth trying again.

Cute little restaurant, very clean and new. The staff here are super friendly and like another reviewer said will pick up your plates as soon as you’ve finished that dish! I had a salmon bento box and it was pretty good. Miso soup was delcicous! I was disappointed it was a green salad(like the boxed mix) with an Italian dressing, not the greens with that delicious carrot ginger dressing. Also, the california roll was like 40% mayo, next time I will skip it all together if it;s included in what I order. The tempura was good, including shrimp. The rice was so sticky and yummy. I snagged a menu on the way out as I am happy to see they deliver to my apartment. Next time I will be more adventurous with what I order!

Very reasonable priced sushi. I used to go to the one in high gate but I’ve started coming to this one instead. Their bento box is huge and its got a very good quality with price below average among the sushi places around the area. I would strongly recommend anyone to drop by if they are around the area. I’ve only done take out this I can’t comment on the atmosphere of the place

Fun fact: Y Sushi is the very first Japanese/Sushi restaurant to ever open on Edmonds St in Burnaby and it opened in the summer of 2015. It’s a small restaurant that could probably fit a several dozen customers and I ate here late last month. Their typical rolls such as California, Dynamite, British Columbia and Beef were okay to good, but not great — the rice for these rolls were a tad dry. The Dynamite roll felt incomplete and sad, as it contained rice as a part of its filling, and it would be a lot better if it had some fish roe, but there were none. The California roll had some rice mixed with the imitation crab meat filling too. The Beef rolls were good and they contained a nice amount of beef with tangy teriyaki sauce. The B.C. roll did not excite me much, as the BBQ salmon looked and tasted like it was either pink or chum salmon. The takoyaki had octopus as a filling, but it contained only one little tiny piece of octopus, which was about the the size of single green pea. The Mango roll was pretty good and it was nicely presented, but it contained another problem which I did mention — rice mixed with the imitation crab meat! I did like the mango sauce! The Golden roll was very good and it was the first time I had cheese in my sushi roll. There was only a faint cheese flavour and it was light and savoury. Although I did see rice mixed with cheese inside the roll, I could barely taste the rice as the cheese blended well with the rice. Once again, this roll would be better without the rice as a filler because one could not tell by looking at the roll if it did contain cheese. Tea cups were big and I had my tea refilled many times.

New sushi place in the edmonds area. It’s hardly ever busy, free parking nearby and the service is pretty good. The servers will grab your plate almost the minute you’re all done to make sure its out of the way. Food comes quickly too. Their food is good with lots of options. Their lunch special has some awesome options for combos. Best of all it’s cheap! Can’t complain

Ok I saw some people say this is better than Nao sushi and here comes my comparisons. I ordered Unagi don, salmon sashimi and tuna maki here. I always order Unagi don when I try out new restaurants and I like how it tastes. Anyway, this restaurant has way better detailing than Nao sushi. They plates are good and decorations are good… Also, it’s not that noisy here and waiters are pretty nice(worth the tip). However, food quality is not that good as Nao sushi. Unagi don doesn’t really have crispy on the skin(although Nao doesn’t make good Unagi Don also but Nao is slightly better; I have eaten Unagi Don all over places Hongkong Taipei Tokyo… Good restaurants should be able to make good Unagi Don if they have fresh Unagi and able to use Asian style of oven) Wasabi isn’t that spicy but it is okay I know real one in Japan doesn’t really have strong favor. One important thing, Salmon sashimi in here does NOT have ice in it. That’s what Nao sushi should learn. But Nao just makes better Tuna maki since Nao’s taste fresher and the seaweed outside is more crispy. I can see the heart and efforts but the food quality really need improvement. I will come back again not recent.

Tldr; A hidden sushi joint with great food, service, price and ambiance. This hits all the spot. This a a great sushi joint hidden within the pockets of Edmonds community. It’s hard to see but once you’re in it and eating away, you’ll forget where you are. I ordered hrimp tempura, salmon & tuna sashimi, Crazy roll and Dragon roll. First of all the interior is small but it’s very clean and nicely decorated. The servers were very attentive. In our 40 min. sitting, they must have came by 5 times to refill our teas and occasionally ask how is everything — automatic 20% tip! The shrimp tempura was nicely battered and deep fried to perfection. The Dragon roll and Crazy(not 100% sure of the name) was made really well with fresh ingredients. Lastly, my favorite part, the damn Tuna in the salmon & tuna sashimi was THEBEST. This is the best freaking tuna I have ever eaten of all the dine in quickie sushi places I have visited. The tuna just melts in your mouth like butter. This is coming from a tuna enthusiast. I will definitely come back again to this place and I hope the service and food are consistent, especially the tuna.

Ordered pickup from here and it was excellent. Good price, good quality. Definitely recommend! Didn’t see the restaurant, so the rating is based solely on menu/food/price. Happy sushi-ing!

Been to Y Sushi a few times now, it’s really nice and clean inside. The service is awesome(copious refills of tea and water). And the prices are really affordable as well. Their 2 or 3 item lunch menu is around $ 6~$ 8 and is pretty filing. They serve lunch until 4 pm(Even though it doesn’t say on their flyers) and they deliver for free within a 3 km range. Will definitely be making this my go-to spot for sushi in the Edmonds area.

I’ve just got my take out order. They are beyond my expectation. I was pretty hesitated while calling to order since I’ve never be there before. The foods are good come in great portion and very affordable compare with other sushi places near Edmond area. I order just a small spicy sashimi and 6 nigiri pieces for just 15.50 $ Love it. The place look decent and clean. I will come back for dinning soon

Our take out order was fresh and delicious. Portion size is just right, quality of food is good, prices are cheap, close to our house — what else do we need?! Inside is very modern and cozy, but place is not very big. I recommend Y Sushi, it looks like people who opened this place care about what they are doing. ps. I will update my review once I’ll try more food there.
