The food is usually good but the service is really slow. Although the servers are usually very nice. As well I have given up going because the restaurant was closed due to events three times in a row. They need to figure out how to let the public see they are closed for events without having to go all the way down there. The unreliability is frustrating

This is one of my favorite restaurants. That’s all I can say. Only one thing is if you are a vegan their options mostly have animal product, but for dishes that have cheese you can opt it.

Came here for Dine Out Vancouver in 2014(YESWAYOVERDUE) but it was a great deal! Food was in large portions and for the price, was delicious! Haven’t gone back since but been eying the brunch buffet!

Beautiful view, excellent service, food was not good but they made it right. Everything including the soup, fries and coffee was either lukewarm or downright cold, the garlic bread was barely toasted and tasted stale and steak was half well done on one side and half med rare as it was thick on one side and thin on the other. The waitress made it up to us so we will be back to give them a second shot. The light bulb in the bathroom hall was burnt out so it was kinda scary.

I had my wedding here in May 2015. I put down a deposit 1.5 years in advanced and my biggest fear was having a rainy day since I decided to have my ceremony and reception here. It turned out to be a great day with partially sunny skies so I could have an outdoor ceremony on their lawn, so perfect for photos! Brad was my contact person for Riverway and he was usually on top of my requests. They didn’t follow my floor plan and they forgot to provide the 2 wines I chose. Either way, I had a great time and no one noticed the little things. The dinner was a buffet and the quality of the food was pretty good! Our carving station got upgraded to prime rib, so everyone wanted more of that. There was also marsala chicken, salmon, rice, veggies, pasta, salads, etc. A good variety of items. All my guests were in awe of the amazing view, plus the beauty of the building. It really has a nice rustic feel to the building so you don’t have to add much decorations to the place. The venue is a budget friendly option for brides as it’s not too expensive. You’re just paying for the price per head, any alcohol, and tax. AV equipment and dance floor comes with it. As it is owned by the City of Burnaby, they don’t take gratuities.

Geez I’m surprised no one reviewed this golf course before me! People have wrote about the Riverway Golf Course Clubhouse, but not about the golf course itself! Ok… here we go… I would say without a doubt Riverway Golf Course is the Best public golf course in the city of Burnaby! I’ve played here often and I have always enjoyed this course. It offers some very scenic and challenging holes! With the backdrop of the North Shore mountains this golf course offers heavy think brush, trees, and water to contend with! What I find most challenging is the angles that the golf course demands of the golfer. Sometimes you are standing over your ball looking at a 150 yard shot over water wondering if the angle is right! A few degrees off and your ball will be in the drink! This golf course is not a park! It’s not driver driver and only driver… Sometimes you have to pull out a 3 wood or a long iron on a par 4. If you love golf, and you have never tried it I would recommend giving Riverway Golf Course a try. I’m confident that you’ll enjoy this golf course!

Although I was a bit put off by the negative reviews on here, since my uncle invited us to their buffet brunch I decided to see what it was all about. First off it’s a beautiful venue, and the seating area was open and airy. Brunch is by reservation only, which I think was a great idea as the restaurant is able to control how busy the buffet line and seating will be. It was perfect as there was never a constantly long line. The food while nothing spectacular, was interesting and there was no particular dish that needed improvement. The star of the brunch was the roast beef! The chef cooks the beef himself and carves it perfectly for everyone. Moist and tender, my dad went back for thirds! Other food options they had that day(I’m not sure if it’s the same every week) included fried cauliflower, cannelloni, salmon, butter chicken, chicken thigh, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, waffles, eggs benedict, creamy tomato soup, various salads, and a dessert bar that had tiramisu cake, chocolate mousse cake, and various fruits and dessert bars. The service was limited but our server would come around every so often to refill waters and clear plates. I didn’t find it as horrible as other reviewers have described it but perhaps the quality of service for a regular dinner/lunch service is different from the buffet lunch I had.

Beautiful course setting. Lots of spots for driving range(although still popular and full — arrive early or wait!). This course comes highly recommended by a few people I know. I need to experience the club house next time. Small parking lots, however.

Food pretty good… service. abysmal! Dont go for lunch if you are in a rush. we waited over 40 mins for a burger and a salad… in the end, the salad didnt show up as the waitress was apparently unable to use a pen and tried to remember everything. …so I had a salmon burger instead of my salmon salad! Upside.the burger was good! Oh and avoid the fries… limp greasy salty things!

Came here for dineout. Good food, dessert buffet table and a little bit of live music created a nice atmosphere. Service was slow and not friendly. I put it down to inexperience.

Because of the beautiful, warm October weather, our(large) family decided to have our thanksgiving dinner at riverway golf course. Some went earlier to enjoy a day of golf, while the laziest of us were happy to enjoy a glass of wine on the sunny deck, facing southwest so we were warm until well after 6 pm. The $ 25.(regularly $ 35.) 3-course meal that followed was excellent! Surprisingly good, considering the beautiful setting, nicely designed dining room, and the endless sunset. I was expecting much less. There were 25 of us ranging in age from 2 to 92, and the staff accommodated the vegetarians and those with allergies without skipping a beat. Good wine selection too. Highly recommend, even if you don’t golf!

I came here to lunch recently. Food 2⁄5: I had the Lobster Baguette($ 10.75) with fries(yam/potato combo). This is an item I’ve had and enjoyed in the past, but this time around, there was something that was off. The lobster tasted like it came out from a can, and there was no hint of the tarragon dressing. The yam fries were great, but the regular french fries were really tough — probably fried earlier and re-fried again. I think I’ll stick with a regular burger the next time. Service 2⁄5: Maybe our server was having a bad day or something. He was grumbling about having to set up tables for our group and really fussy about some very minor requested modifications to our meals. It took at least 30 minutes for our meals to be delivered. Value 2⁄5: Sandwiches /burgers mainly in the range of $ 12 to $ 15, which isn’t unreasonable, but for this price, I’d prefer dining at a place that is a bit more service oriented and has a bit more soul. Atmosphere 2⁄5: Unless you’re a regular golfer here, this is a bit of a destination restaurant as it’s in the middle of no where in Burnaby. It’s nice to snag a patio seat on a sunny day. The interior of the restaurant feel rather open and somewhat unfinished. I think they need more moveable planters and vertical décor to fill/break up the space. There’s a sense of cheapness in here. Washroom sinks are awkward — the automatic sinks have finicky sensors and i found it really hard to find the sweet spot to turn the water on. For a restaurant that is trying to work its way into the wedding /banquet market, I think there’s a lot of work ahead.

Went here for a Mothers Day lubch. It was a good thing that it wasnt busy on a Saturday. Despite my sister inlaw calling in to make reservations earlier in the week, as they did not have tge reservation. I ordered the house burger which was good and filling. Another person ordered the butternut squash pasta. The filling was quite solid and seemed like it was proessed as opposed to made inhouse. The ambiance and surroundings were excellent. it seema lije a nice place to hold large group events.

I didn’t golf here, nor did I dine, but it’s a fine place to drink at! They got a nice patio space overlooking the golf course with heat patio and a slight over hang that covers up some of tables. The view is pretty good out there and it’s quiet compared to most patios. The Clubhouse is quite huge and has large floor to ceiling windows over looking the golf course so you won’t miss out too much if you’re here on a raining day. I like how they can divide the room so it doesn’t look so empty inside and project old black and white movies on that divider. Why I also enjoyed coming here for beers? They got quite a few craft beers here. I’ve been going through a sampling of them. Some pretty good ones, some not so goo, and some really awesome ones! The server we had was really funny and made our time very enjoyable. I’ll love to come back here more often for lunch beers, but honestly it’s a better out of the way for me :(

Burnaby has two municipal golf courses. This is the nicer of the two. They call it a links style course but I don’t really think it is a true links course, but I digress. It is actually one of the toughest muni courses in the lower mainland, if they let the tall grass and fescue grow on the multiple high mounds that line some of the fairways. Hit a shot into those mounds expect to take a penalty stroke.

Went here for a work lunch. Not sure what the buffet cost, but most other things looked reasonably priced. I got the pulled pork sandwich. This was the first time I’d had it served without the au jus; still delicious. The fries it came with were a mix of potato and yam fries. The server seemed nice, but as soon as the bill was paid, he stopped refilling our waters and took away any leftovers without asking. I could have stopped him, though it would have been nice to ask if we were done first. I’d understand if the place were packed, but it definitely wasn’t. It has a lodge-y atmosphere; exposed concrete, high roof and lots of wood. Strange to see plywood on the ceiling; I guess that’s the look they were going for. I’d come back again, sure.

We booked our office Christmas party here. They stayed open through the supper hour for us, and it was really cool to have the whole place to ourselves! We ordered an ongoing parade of appies and they were yummy. The service was great, and the food was tasty and plentiful for the kind of event we were having. If I ordered the nachos as a share plate with a group, I wouldn’t have been happy with the quantity. The inside of the restaurant is so beautiful, really nicely done, overlooking the golf course. I don’t know about the golf side of things, but I am going to make this place a more frequent lunch destination — great spot for lunch meetings.

With $ 11.50 nachos that resemble a work of art more than a huge pile of goodness, a post-slowpitch hangout this place isn’t. They promise the nachos are good for two but umm that can ONLY be true if you’re two itty bitty full people! Did I mention the 1516 beer on draft for $ 5 which seems more than out of place beside the gorgeous view, white linen napkins and fancy water glasses. And what’s with the 5 tv’s on constant PowerPoint scenic views cycle?

Was here for a sunset round over the weekend… turns out you that twilight starts at 2.30PM which is pretty solid during the«winter» months. We started at 5pm, a full 2.5 hours of sunlight it was $ 17 for the round and $ 15 for the cart(shared between two people). Ended up playing 10 holes as there was no wait… The course was muddy, not fantastic conditions, but it was decently cared for and we even had gas-powered carts which was a bit of a novelty. Otherwise, lots of long holes to pull out your big boy driver and some water hazards to keep it interesting. Next time I’d start earlier and maybe on a slightly sunnier day… otherwise, it’s a fun course at the right price… why not? I’ll update this when I get to play the full back 9.
