I was there with my wife yesterday evening for their dine-out event and I absolutely loved the whole experience. The staff were all very friendly despite being jam-packed with guests, the place was clean and well-presented, and the dine-out dishes, although being very reasonably priced, tasted absolutely delicious. And the scenery out the windows is to die-for. All in all, a wonderful experience at a reasonable price but I’d revisit for their regular dishes as well. Not sure why it’s rated so low on Unilocal but I personally and wholeheartedly recommend you pay a visit.

We visited Horizon’s for Dine Out and was disappointed with our dining experience. First we noticed a wine glass at our table that had lipstick marks all over. We let this pass and the waiter was quick to get a new glass. Once the main course arrived, issues from the kitchen staff became evident. My plate was kept in a warming oven for waaay to long. I actually burnt my finger when I bumped it while picking up my cutlery. The plate was so hot, my medium rare steak was cooked to medium. Finally for desert, the crème brûlée wasn’t cooked through plus the glaze on the top was a pool of sugar liquid. These items that made for a poor experience are not the end of the world. However, I have much higher expectations from premium restaurants like Horizon’s. I won’t be back anytime soon.

The location is beautiful, mesmerizing scenery, sunset. The restaurant’s service is very personal, they make sure customers are happy and satisfied. The New York steak and the ribs were excellent, cooked with passion.

Service is average, food was horrible. Steak was over cooked twice. Poorly seasoned and for the price Keg is way better.

We went for my mother-in-law’s birthday dinner. The food was decent and came pretty quickly after ordering it. I didn’t try anyone else’s but I ordered two appetizers: the asparagus, prosciutto and egg. The egg was cold and I literally got one piece of prosciutto! I was expecting a few stalks wrapped in prosciutto but it was just a pile of asparagus on top of one piece. Definitely not worth it. Everyone’s else seemed happy with their food. We all had fun, but that was due to our company. The food was mediocre at best, our waiter was not at all personable. The only thing that was amazing was the view!

Attention, the prices are not the only thing to consider. Really nice environment, friendly service, great view… Worth the experience.

Horizons is a special fine dinning place in Burnaby, I like it because the beautiful view, food and service, I went there few times it happened that the same senior gentle man who served for my table, he is always polite and friendly , As for the food(I can’t remember the exact name on the menu), just recalled that I ordered Tuna Tataki & grilled oyster as starter, steak and lobster as main course, They are all good plus The steak is tender and juicy, lobster is fresh, the food for sure is worth for its $$$, Horizons will always on my list when I want to spend good time with good friends…

I went here for our 4 year anniversary and it was an amazing experience. Beautiful scenery(make sure you sit on the patio or by a window). The service was right on and they have a great wine list! Food portions are quit good and i have to say the food was delicious! Everything made right to order. Ensure you order some calimari because it is to die for! All in all a great place that is not too black tie but still a classy place. A little bit on the pricey side but their website usually has some great coupons for 3 course meals.

Excellent. I had my wedding here in 2014 and it went perfectly. I sent a hundred emails with questions as we planned and they responded to every email extremely promptly. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch(except when we got hitched ;) and the guests raved about the food. They even got to choose from 3 menu choices at the wedding! Food and service was flawless.

Good food, beautiful view, and good service! I had a great time at this restaurant. I brought my girlfriend for a date night and I honestly have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. My water glass was always full and the server was very helpful. I will definitely recommend this place to people

I love the beautiful view when I get a window seat. Horizons does have a great location as its advantage. For starters, there is no complementary bread. You have to pay for it when we asked. During their dine out menu in 2014, we were served complementary bread for the $ 28 price set menu. However, when we dined at regular price, we chose to skip the bread when we found out it costed extra. It seemed that many people did not mind paying. I know it is a bit silly over the bread issue. It is just bread, but most fine dining establishments provide complementary bread. Is this a new trend Horizons is starting? I have been to many fine dining restaurants and this was a first in recent memory. We ordered the west coast seafood chowder to start. It was loaded with plenty of seafood and was tomato based. Then we had short ribs and albacore tuna as our mains. Both were tasty but the tuna was a bit over cooked. I think it was due to the cut of the fish though. For dessert, we shared a lemon cheesecake. It was light and creamy. Service was alright. Not the best but passible. I saw one table of diners nibbling on bread. Our server did not mention anything about the bread after we placed our order. We flagged someone else to ask and found out there was a charge. We also had to flag someone to refill water. There was at least four staffers working on the floor so I do not get why no one did rounds to refill water or maybe they should pour water into larger glass cups instead. Overall, food was solid. Service was okay. Great view overseeing downtown and north shore. There is a $ 22 discount with the purchase of two dinner entrees on the receipt if you return in 60 days. Maybe that is why they have to charge for bread?

I have to admit that I’ve not been to the top of Burnaby Moutain since highschool… and the Doobies were big thing then. OK, now that I dated myself, I must say that the top of this hill has improved. Very much. The restaurant is classy! Of course, it’s June, and there are many SFU I-just-graduated parties all over this park. There are the new grads taking swigs at what ever can be swirled at the bar. As for me, I decided to get the special for lunch… Coho Salmon. The fish was very fresh. Salad was also excellent. But come on, I came up here to see all the drunken prom dates wandering the grounds. With the picturesque windows, you can see the Canadian flag out front, the wandering new grads, the mountains across, the totem poles across the lawn… I came up here to relive my childhood and take in the view while munching on my delicious lunch. I’ll come back again, hopefully soon.

This place is about having 3 star food with an unbeatable 5 star view and paying a 3 $ price. That said the overall experience is highly dependent on where you are seated and somewhat about how the weather is like. Have a short walk before dinner on the top of mountain is not bad.

Went a foggy Saturday night with a Groupon. It was super foggy and pretty dark by 7:30 so the view was a no-go, not that we really for a spot with a view anyways. They had a special section for people with Groupons, and not that it was a big deal, but lets just say that they weren’t the best seats in the house. $ 49 for 2 price fix meals, i got the salad(it was kinda like a salad??), the salmon, and the crème brulée. I can’t eat meat or chocolate, so those were pretty much my only options on the special groupon menu. Waitress asked for our groupon the moment we sat down, but we didn’t really get any other service for the next 10minutes or so. They tried to offer extras such as drinks, refills, and bread since they’re probably not making much of the Groupons, but we stuck to just one round of drinks. The food was good, salad was pretty basic with spinich, this weird white stuff and some pears & pine nuts. Salmon was delicious, moist and amazingly cooked. Could’ve had better flavour though. Veggies were okay, and risotto was fine. Crème brulée was pretty basic. Nothing too amazing or fancy. Cheesecake was more of a mousse like consistency than actual cheesecake, so it was left unfinished. The $ 22 off your next order of 2 entrees was nice, and i’d go back on a nicer day with a better view. I’d give them 3.5÷5 stars.

My boyfriend took me here for a special dinner and we were both looking forward to eating here. Really disappointed… the bread was stale. We ordered some appys that were undercooked and when my entrée came i ordered the Peking duck, the meat was overcooked hard and rubbery. But that’s not all there was a hair sticking out of the duck breast and I found another hair on my caramelized apple. How the f can you miss that?! Not impressed. My bfs dish was bland and dry. The only plus was the nice view of the park other than that unimpressed with the food the service was meh and won’t be coming back ever.

I would actually be between 3 – 4 star but that is only my preference. This restaurant puts some effort to try to push a mid ranged restaurant to a fine-dining experience but not close to there. I had my birthday of 20 people here a few years back and was well serviced. I decided to go here to start of Dine Out Vancouver 2013 and it was a decent $ 28 menu. I would have appreciated a better variety of dessert choices because there were only 2 choices, crème brûlée and a lava cake pie or something. I chose the crème brûlée even despite my non-appeal for sweets. I think the appetizer pricing could be adjusted a little bit for what you get. $ 12 for calamari does not make too much sense to me. They also serve bread on the house from this restaurant. The experience is nice that it is on Burnaby Mountain. View, well all we saw was fog which I knew I wasn’t expecting anything amazing since it was a winter evening. If you come here on a summer night, the view is quite nice actually. I have no issues with service. Staff were great. I would consider this more casual than really formal in my opinion.

Thank goodness for the Groupon! So not worth it to dine regular price. I had the spring roll, pork tenderloin and crème brûlée. He had the seafood chowder, the short rib and cinnamon poached pear. My spring roll was soo greasy, they didnt even give it a second to sit on paper towel so the teeny bed of greens they had underneath it was all wilted by the time it arrive to the table. His chowder was so starchy and lacked seafood! His short rib was DRY, DRY, DRY/SO over done! Brulee custard was just blah, and there was nothing overly spectacular with his poached pear. Our waitress was swamped from attending to another table. They started with at least 16, ended up with at least 22+ people. She was not as attentive as she could be, but then again who can with a table that just kept adding more people to their reservation? I can’t really blame her on that note. Not to mention one of the kids was putting a wack load of salt into their salad, so she had to go back and grab another as she was trying to bring out all appetizers. I had to just walk up to the hostesses to try and pay because we were unable to get any of the other expoditer/assisting waiters to even take a look at us. Even then, they had to get the server to tell them her number prior to ringing it in. The only one thing worth mentioning would be the pork tenderloin. That, was very moist and I was able to share some of that with my bf who had ordered that super dry short rib. Needless to say, even for the view, will not be going back.

I came here for a private work function, and while it’s far and near impossible to get to without a car, the views and food are spectacular! We had taken up the entire restaurant, so it was a set menu lunch with your choice for beverages — not sure what the bill came out to. Service was good, drinks arrived on time and were always refilled quickly. Our server was very friendly despite looked very stressed out. Food arrived by table, in a random fashion, so it was quite slow for the unlucky people at the end of the imaginary line. The lunch lasted two hours for a 3 course meal, so we were pretty hungry by the end of it. The food was great — the seafood chowder was thick, but only had fish in it. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the cheesecake was very good(sad I couldn’t finish it all, it was so much food!) Definitely a good place for a date night. I suspect the service is better when orders don’t come in all at once, but I’ll have to come back another time to be sure!
