Went here for Dine Out Vancouver. Had the Veal Tongue Tonato, Game Hen and chocolate Swiss roll. All were excellent.

As good as it gets. I believe so. Food was amazing, place had a great heritage home atmosphere and you felt that you’ve been pampered by the servers the entire time. Tell me what else can they do better? We’ve had mussles and clams for starter, Surf and Turf for me, and Arctic Char for her. The portion was just right, and we both had our own desserts afterwards. Will definitely be back again for special occasions.

Beautiful place but poor customer service. Was gonna do my wedding there, but definitely won’t anymore and will not recommend to any friends or families.

I came here for a friend’s baby shower and boy was it he fanciest baby shower that I’ve been to! Lol we had the front room to ourselves and there was a set menu that we were able to pick from My cousin and I split the set menu, so we both ordered something we wanted to try and split everything in half. So we had the salmon cakes and mushroom soup for appetizers and they were both delicious! First time I had salmon cakes and I prefer them over crab cakes. They’re nice and crispy with a small amount of sauce(mayo concoction). The mushroom soup was good to, it wasn’t super rich but still creamy and tasty. For the entrée we had the turkey and pork belly sandwich and the lobster sandwich. I preferred the lobster sandwich, but there was only 2 pieces of lobster in my half and most of it was small shrimp. It was mixed with mayo, which was a little runny, but it still tastes really good and refreshing to me. The half of pork belly and Turkey was ok but I think I got most of the pork belly and felt like I was just eating all fat. My cousin on then other hand had more Turkey and really liked that half. For dessert it was fresh fruit. The service at first was good, but after they served the entrée staff seemed to have disappeared and stopped filling our water and coffee. Thing was they weren’t even busy… So that’s why they didn’t get 5 stars…

Went during Dine Out Vancouver and loved it’s. The Maitre’d was very helpful with extra bread, and drinks, good service and great food. We had the tuna tartar — amazing, the beef was fantastic and the crème brûlée delicious.

Hart House feels like an institution: a place for the ages. The food was delicious although a few missteps(risotto was undercooked, the bison over salted, and one of the wine pairings was completely out of whack). Our waitress was lovely and attentive. We went to Hart House for our anniversary dinner and we felt a little out of place. We’re in our early 30s and covered in tattoos. This place feels more like the kind of place my parents would go for their anniversary, or a place we would attend for a wedding or corporate party. Although the food was delicious, I’m not sure I would recommend it to friends my age.

I attended yesterday’s Sunday brunch with my awesome boyfriend as a surprise breaky hotspot. Needing a reservation, the dining area where sat only had two other occupied tables of the maybe 20, however you lived and breathed country club upper-crust and for that a reservation is indeed required. :) They close just after 2pm to prepare for their dinner hours so don’t wait too long to visit like the motorcycle couple did as we left. Our young waiter was certainly very polished but a little coffee/water refill slow, however the big free basket of amazing crusty bread and fresh croissants certainly made up for that(at least a little). The coffee was dreamy and my lunch«pork belly sandwich with fries» was out of this world on a ciabatta bun. For a bit of fairyland do checkout this fantastic view and wonderful foodie indulgence.

My girlfriend and I visited Hart House to celebrate her birthday with a nice dinner. The food we had was excellent. The staff was very polite, and our server was also knowledgeable about each dish and wine he served us. We had gone on a Tuesday evening, so the place was empty save for two other couples and one group of four. Although, I’m sure it isn’t always that quiet, if you’re looking for that sort of setting with this kind of dining, a weeknight might do it for you.

I had the privilege of attending a wedding here. It was a beautiful summer afternoon(after a morning of dark clouds) and the sun was shining down. Weddings are generally held outside in a tent facing the Deer Lake at the back of the house. The ceremony on the lawn with the lake in the distance makes for awesome photos. After the ceremony, there was a cocktail hour with canapés served by the staff. I really liked the lamb balls and tuna that they had. Had I known what was to come, I would have tried to eat more. The first dish at dinner was a salad that consisted of three slices of tomato, some mozzarella cheese and a couple leaves of lettuce. The main was either fish, beef, or vegetarian which we pre-selected at the time of RSVP. I got the beef which came with two stems of asparagus and some potatoes, while my wife got the fish that came with some edamame. And… that was it. I have a feeling that a lot of the guests were left feeling hungry. I have never seen everyone’s dishes wiped clean as they ate every single last bite. I guess it’s good that there’s no food waste but I was not impressed with the portions. I don’t blame the wedding party for not ordering more because I think that’s just how it is here. My brother came to Hart House last year for a wedding and said it was the same. This is not to say that the food is bad, because what I did have was actually quite good. Unfortunately, there just wasn’t enough. For the amount that Hart House charges, I’m sure they can afford to give a bit more food. I should also mention that there was a dessert bar and grilled cheese sandwiches for a late night snack.

This review is for the food only. I attended a wedding at Hart House and the buffet was catered by their kitchen. It was hands down the best buffet I have ever had. I am excited to come back for a dining experience here!

Is it fair to judge restaurants based off a dine out experience? Regardless this meal was simply phenomenal! The scallop risotto was amazingly luscious, the seared steelhead fish had the MOST mouth-watering crisp top to its delectably moist fillet, and the goat cheesecake dessert was so creative and divine that it was almost impossible to imagine I was having such a 5 star meal. The service was also incredibly friendly and welcoming, despite being late 15 minutes. Overall this place gets so many stars from me, that it looks like the night sky. Well done Hart House! :)

Came here for Dineout with my sister on a Saturday evening. Reservation was for a Saturday evening and we were there for 2 hours. Service– very very slow and it wasn’t that busy. I know fine dining service takes their time and everything is made etc but wow. I think I would of passed out if I didnt’ eat a bit before. Had duck breast which was alrite,(dry and very«heavy»), the carpacio(starter) was very good I think that was the best part of my meal. Lastly the dessert was some peanut butter, vanilla, banana tempura batter thing which was super sweet, it was like a science experiment lol. The meal wouldn’t be something I would pay $ 38 for, Will say the server was very informative and nice but very slow =(

This is a heritage house transformed to the restaurant since 1988. I never been to Hart House for dinner, well… it’s not on my list anyway. We went there 10 mins early and walked around at Deer Lake such as a beautiful Sat evening. The hostess was friendly and we got seated with a view of the lake(prob most of tables would get very scenic view) My gal friend bought a Groupon — tasting menu(6-course at $ 40) which pretty good deal to try it. Unfortunately, the food portions were small, disappointing and not tasty. Some dishes decorated nicely. Amuse bouche — Pickle(I would not consider pickle as bite-sized hors d’œuvre and mouth amser) Autumn vegetable terrine with stilton cream — Just a potato and carrot terrine(All season veggie items) which tasteless. Truffled mushroom cannelloni with sherry espuma — I spooned out truffled mushroom coz cannelloni was so dry and chewy. Smoked sablefish — It served in lukewarm temperature of sablefish. It’s still smooth and tasty. Braised pork cheek and seared diver scallop — We got finally something taste good. Braised pork cheek the delicate softness of the cheek and really brought out the flavour! The scallop was delicious. Panna cotta with port-poached pear and macaroon — Panna cotta was in light flavor and silky smooth texture. The macaroon wasn’t crunchy and too sweet. Beside the view, I don’t think the food in regular price can bring me back again.

Went to the Heart House last night, I have been going there on and off for over 15 years. I use to love coming here for special occasions, but now not so much. I have been buying there groupons for the past year a total of 8, but I let 1 expire. There portions use to be decent for the price, but last night I was so severely disappointed. We started off withe the«ahi tuna salad» if you call it that. 6 pieces of really thin tuna, equivalent to 2 regular pieces of tuna at any sushi restaurant. And a few greens sprinkled on top. The total size of this appetizer was a size of a Mr. Big chocolate bar at $ 17.00. Good side… it tasted good fresh. Next was the calamari at $ 11.99, the portion was about a handful, and I’m sorry to say it wasn’t even good or fresh, it was chewy and over coated with poorly seasoned batter, served with there interpretation of a Greek salad which was decent. I can get better basically anywhere, it was the worst«calamari» I’ve ever had. We shared a seared lamb $ 30.00, I was shocked when they brought the plate out. 5 pieces of really thinly sliced lamb served with 5 nugget potatoes and 12 string beans and a celery purée. $ 30.00 really??? The taste was alright, didn’t really taste like lamb? Definitely Not worth it!(Just bought a New Zealand lamb roast for $ 23.00 ate it tonight and Yum!) We then had the truffle fries which use to cost $ 5.00 and is now $ 8.00, I use to love these so so much, I hardly touch them last night. It was over seasoned way too salty:( We also had a side of mushrooms which also use to be $ 5.00 but now $ 7.00. The mushrooms are always good, no complaints there. Reviewing there menu and having been there so many times through out the years, the prices are a all time high, and the portions are shrinking considerably, and the quality is not what it use to be.(never bothered me before, until using groupons, but last night WOW) We left hungry and extremely disappointed, bill came to $ 82+ minus the $ 40 groupon, with tax and tip my total was 52+ plus the $ 20.00 I originally paid for the groupon, $ 72.00 Save your money go to the keg/earles/catus club or anywhere else, and leave full and satisfied. I’m sorry to say I will not be going there anymore, in this day and age with the economy the way it is, it would be nice to get value for what you pay for, you will not find it here, but I have to say there service is always top notch. Just a note I went to sushi garden today with my daughter and we were stuffed and extremely satisfied as usual, we left at just under $ 24.00 and that included tax and tip:) WOW!

Hart House is located in Deer Lake and there is free parking. The restaurant is a heritage style house with old fashion furniture and décor. I found the food from average to pretty good: Ling cod fish and chips. A little too salty and too much batter on the fish. Salad with goat cheese and beets. The salad was refreshing and the goat cheese was plentiful. I felt like it needed a bit more beets though. The service was excellent and deserves a 5⁄5. The staff was very attentive and tries hard to make you feel welcome. I like the location of this restaurant and the view, but the décor is not my style.
