I’d easily recommend Crompton Brothers to anyone looking to get their car serviced.
They’ve been around a long time. They are family owned but are actually a pretty large operation. You’ll see several Canada Post trucks and RCMP patrol vehicles getting fixed at any given time. Their garage is bigger than most dealership service bays.
The owner is straight forward and will give you several options with no pressure. I had a mysterious sudden drop in fuel efficiency (couldn’t go past 300 km on a tank of gas) and they took time to talk me through why it wouldn’t be this, that, or the other. They suggested several things to try before even spending money. Their lead tech is very knowledgeable and can point things out fairly quickly.
I’ve gotten several jobs done here both big and small. The only downside is that they are often very busy so you definitely have to call ahead and get scheduled in. They will also give you a ride to the Skytrain or anywhere nearby.
I started coming to them because my other mechanic retired and these guys had a oil change Groupon. After that it became a matter of convenience since they were fairly close by. But after my first major maintenance is when I developed a high level of trust and regard for their work.
Bottom line they are too busy to be BS-​ing you and are very straight forward people. I’ve had a few conversations with the older brother while waiting for my car and can tell they are the decent, hard working type and take pride in what they do. As a small business owner myself I can definitely get behind a company like this.

My car uses synthetic oil, so when I paid with a $ 25 Groupon coupon, Tammy the service rep correctly said the coupon was for regular oil, and that synthetic oil required extra fees. I was OK with that as coupon clearly states extra fees for synthetic oil, but instead of charging the DIFFERENCE between a regular and synthetic oil change, she simply deducted $ 25 + tax from the regular price of synthetic oil change. i.e. she gave me FACE value of groupon, rather than the PROMOTIONAL value.
I complained to Groupon and they swiftly (3 days) kindly gave me $ 15 Groupon credit.
Cromptons provides high quality technical service & the included inspection was thorough, but I believe their front desk staff do not understand how to process Groupon coupons and their interpretation of «extra fees for synthetic oil» is questionable

Maybe replying to this one will be worth their time. No discounts, coupons or goodwill for me. Paid another $ 60 after paying for the $ 30 oil change Groupon in advance.
Took my V6 accord coupe here for an oil change. Garrison at the counter was a chill, personable guy. Pretty informative and honest about the servicing my car needed and when. My only gripe, which I just now discovered, was the cabin air filter I had replaced through them.
Garrison brought my old dirty cabin filter out and it was pretty clogged up, and that’s fair given I’d never bothered to check it when I bought the car off the first owner. He told me the paper filter I had would be $ 59 but he had a Fram Arm and Hammer brand one for $ 39 and tax, which he said was a good price. As I was already there and had no reason to doubt him, I told him to go ahead and order one.
Imagine my surprise after I looked up the filter online and saw it priced at about $ 13 on Amazon, Walmart and most other stores. $ 15 at Canadian Tire. The very same exact one. Even the paper ones were more like $ 11 than $ 59.
I get that he tried to up sell me something and was able to get away with it, and the reasonably priced oil change does soften the blow a little, but I’m not sure I can appreciate the near 300% mark up. It’s just not a great feeling knowing someone pulled a fast one on you like that.
It just makes me a little sad cuz the whole time I was there I did feel like I was being given genuine advice like other people here seem to have got.

Best place ever! The owner actually cares about his customers and won’t rip you off on unnecessary repairs. Would recommend 100%!

Very impressed. I showed up with a groupon for an oil change and had never been there before. The staff were friendly and helpful, and very knowledgeable. They told me it’d take an hour so I went for a walk and got back a bit early. My car was done and they had already gone through with an inspection, and had some helpful notes on what to keep an eye on. As with most groupons, the fine print said there would be a $ 2 environmental fee for the oil, and taxes would be extra… to my surprise they didn’t charge me a cent, even though they topped of my brake fluid as well! They even gave me a 15% off coupon for my next visit.
I couldn’t have had a better experience, and I will certainly recommend them to my friends. I’ll definitely be stopping by again, and you should stop by too!
