no service took way too long than expected my drinks were sitting at their counter for over 10minutes, no staff even bother letting their customers know it’s ready. People ordered before me got fed up and asked and I had to ask to get my drinks too after pointlessly waiting for nothing. Staff looks brand new on the job and they are super slow compared to other bbt places. not worth it, ordered 50% sugar, got at least 80% to full sugar level on my drink

Very, very slow at making drinks. I think this place needs a lot of work. The service is slow and its worst when is busy. The bb tea is nothing special.

Ah, horrible drinks. I went in during a busy weeknight, the bubble was so chewy(as in hard type of chewing), so I said to myself that I might have bad luck that day that bubble wasn’t cooked well. So 2nd time I went, I ordered fresh milk grass jelly tea with bubble. I asked for no ice. And usually the drink should be still be cold even though there is no ice. It was lukewarm, argh, disgusting. The grass jelly has no flavour, and the bubble again, super tough and chewy. The milk tea taste more like milk than tea. I am usually a big fan of Chatime, now it is literally worst than Pearl restaurant. Seriously? I am not coming back here anymore. The only upside of this place is that it has lots of space, but the drinks are so horrible I don’t really see anyone sitting there for too long.

Spacious and clean inside. Hard to find parking. Drinks are too sweet. ½ sweet tasted about the normal sweetness I have at other bbt shops. I had their grass jelly milk tea ½ sweet. It tasted good. But I don’t know if they offer milk tea with real milk or all their milk teas are made with coffeemate. Too much that powder stuff makes me have headaches…

The better Chatime of all 3 in comparison because of the following: Spacious areas and tons of seating– there are tons of seats, and comfortable couches as well. And on top of that a shared ChromeCast for those who can connect to it if you want. I already have been here like over 10 times since they had the grand opening. I am usually found here sometimes on a weekday night or a weekend night with a couple of friends getting their QQ Lemon, or BrownRice Milk Tea. This place can get loud it there are A LOT of people at night, which is like every night. They need a PA system in the place because the staff are shouting and sometimes we can’t even hear them. I love their Chalk art, but it is not the best. I wish they tried harder, because I feel like everytime my body wipes in the area of it, I get chalk on my coat… They might as well just get a mural of acrylic art piece. But regardless of the ambience and the operations, they get orders done. They only have 1POS system, and they need more, so the line does not go outside the door, which is usually does on a Friday/Saturday night. Good place to visit, and have been here countless times. You can find me here in one of my common hang outs.

Not the best cha time location — Robson or Richmond locations(that I’ve tried) are better. I’m basing this off the roasted milk tea with grass jelly. It was so bland– tea was watered down. Even the grass jelly was more watery than normal and it didn’t taste like anything at all, just soft jello texture. Their roasted tea didn’t taste anything like what I’ve had at their other locations. I hope it’s not always like this, otherwise it’s obvious they are cutting corners and watering things down. Definitely a bigger space, and while they do have tables and chairs, it was poor use of space. Maybe with such a big line, they had to move tables out of the way(unfortunate!). But when the line died down, there’s quite a bit of floor space. I also saw lots of people without drinks coming in to sit down, and they definitely didn’t have anyone waiting in line to get them drinks either. A bit annoying though but not the establishments fault.

Their Taiwan mango QQ bubble tea tasted artificial and had a terrible aftertaste. I believe it’s just some kind of mango syrup with water. Not something I would ever order again! But their grass jelly roasted milk tea was quite good. The grass jelly was silky smooth, kind of like tofu pudding. It’s the best grass jelly I’ve ever had. I recommend that one. Every time I went around 9 – 10 pm, the line up was so long… Almost from the front of the line to the door. Last time I waited about 35 mins or so… not worth it… especially for $ 5-$ 6 a drink.

This place is great, but slow, even when not that busy. Thursday night 8pm, 5 staff behind the counter, 6 in front. About 15 mins for two drinks to go. Pricing and selection are good. Overall good value and a solid proposition with nice options. Will be back when not in a rush. Drinks were lemon yoghurt smoothie and matcha tea latte with pearls. The smoothie was awesome. The bubble tea drink was good, not amazing, but the pearls were pretty much perfect. Pricing is $ 5 per beverage, give or take. Options are a bonus: most drinks allow selection of no sugar, 30%, 50%, 80%, 100%, 120% sugar. There’s a few selections for amount of ice also. They can’t alter the sugar content of the yoghurt drinks, which is totes understandable.

It’s a good call to open one more to the east side. Now it makes it for Chatime lovers to not have to trek all the way to Richmond or Robson. As for the ordering process, it went alright. In such a place, they ought to have a PA system because of how big their shop is. It is hard to hear your number called when your sitting at a table or couch waiting. Honestly with the size of their shop, they could possibly even have a tiny kitchen to serve bit size snacks. While my order was done as the usual it is on Robson. My friend’s order was screwed up. Since it was opening weekend, I can understand it may be stressful and things fall through. Overall, it is good.

I tried the Grass Jelly Roasted Milk Tea and the Pearl Milk Tea, which are their two bestsellers. They were both good, but not super impressive. I think I just prefer sweeter bubble tea. We came back and also tried the Lychee Yogurt drink, which we’ve never seen at other bubble tea places. That one reminded me of a lychee salt drink that we had in Japan, so we’ll probably be back to get that one and try some other flavours. I do prefer Bubble World Metrotown because they make their drinks a bit sweeter and their drinks are a bit cheaper over there. In summary, we’ll be back to Chatime to try some other flavors, but when we are craving some amazing mango slush, strawberry slush or lychee slush, we’ll drive a bit further to Bubble World.

This review is more about the service more than about the drinks. I’ve been to the other chatimes in Vancouver, and they’ve all been great. The drinks weren’t bad at this location, but I do have to agree with another reviewer that if you ask for less sugar, it tastes extremely watered down. But to get to the topic of service… My friend ordered his drink, and took it to one of the tables. Since we had a group of 6 people, he wanted to move the tables closer together. Unfortunately, as he was moving the table his drink fell on the floor and spilled. When he went to apologize, one of the staff said that he would have to buy himself a new drink if he wanted one. The staff member explained that once the drink leaves the counter, it’s not their problem if it is spilled. They argued for several minutes, and it wasn’t until my friend approached the manager that they agreed to make him a new drink, but only a small size… and it was extremely watered down… Even though it’s not their obligation to give free drinks left and right, I think that any business would want their customers leaving happy so that they come back for another visit. Safe to say that I will be sticking to the other chatime locations…

I’m writing my review as I’m waiting in line to order. Let’s get this out of the way first, this place is huge(compared to the Richmond and Broadway locations, haven’t been to the Robson location so can’t compare). Other than that, I’d say the whole experience is pretty meh thus far. There isn’t a lot of people waiting to order(there’s 3 workers and plus I’m guessing the owner who’s just standing by watching) and the wait is still quite long. During the daytime, you’ll most likely have to settle for metered parking along the street as the rear lot is very limited in space and is shared with HSBC, a Japanese restaurant, and a nail salon. I came here just for their B1G1 offer, but if not, I’d say let them get their kinks sorted out before giving them a shot. PS: ended up waiting around 20 minutes to make my order. Made the mistake of lining up in the wrong line and the party in front of me made a 32 drink order… GG…at least the cashier acknowledged my patience.

Grand opening Buy one get one free. Waited for 1 hours and 10 mins to order and get the drink. So not worth it. My one hour is worth more than saving $ 5. Told friends about it and they thought this place is crazy. This location is definitely bigger than the other location. Its close to metrotown and burnaby does have a lot of younger crowd. So I can see it doing well. Lots of sitting area. This is definitely a plus. Chatime is Chatime. They are famous for their roasted milk tea. Well Its far from where I live. So probably won’t come here unless I so happen to be in the area.

Now don’t get me wrong, Chatime itself is great and offers the best tasting bubble tea that you can find around. I am a huge fan of Chatime so I was extremely excited for a closer location opposed to the Robson one but this location is a no-go. They are having their 2 for 1 promotion right now and it’s an absolute mess. It was an hour wait to get our drinks in hand, there are people that attempt to get you to sign up for discount cards while you line up and the drinks are just very… poorly made. TIP: Opposed to what Danielle has said. DONOT get anything other than regular sugar for your drinks because instead of adding less sugar to your drinks they will fill up your drink up to 80% then add WATER to make it less sweet. And thats not an exaggeration. I saw the lady making my drinks fill the cup up to 80% and dumping the rest down the drain then go get water to pour into my drink. On top of that, there were around 8 staff running around with only one person actually making the drinks. The grass jelly sits in a large vat and has been reduced to oddly shaped strands compared to other locations with nice chunks. The person running the till had no idea where drinks and all the buttons were even though they have a consistent 20 – 30 people in the place at a time which contributed to the hour wait. Like I said, I’m a huge advocator of Chatime and I feel sorry for everyone that has their first experience of Chatime drinks at this location. It really does not do Chatime justice. If you want to try Chatime, please go to the Robson one because theirs is so much better. Compared to the other locations where their drinks and nice and strong, creamy and all around amazing, but this location not so much.

This place is spacious! But first, the drinks! Get their Roasted Milk Tea Grass Jelly! The grass jelly is a nice soft texture that you can slurp and slide around in your mouth — not like the hard gelatin ones that come in cans! No food is served here, just drinks. This is just one of their many locations and it is literally like Starbucks, but Bubble Tea. As in, you can customize your drink’s sweetness and amount of ice to be either regular/less/half. Tip: Get your drinks half sweet cause it is PLENTY sweet! And that’s not an exaggeration. It’s about time we have a good Taiwanese drink place in Burnaby! They recently had a soft open. Inside is an open space with chalkboard mural art on the left that you can’t miss. I’ve yet to try their other drinks but so far so good :)
