I came here after a bad dinner. We ordered 3 desserts for each of us. A mango snow dessert, a strawberry waffle and a chocolate banana waffle. The portions are big enough to share between 2 – 3 people. The mango snow icy was the texture of creamy snow. The waffles are generous with the types of toppings on it. The waffle itself is like a soft Belgian waffle. I tried their macarons and was disappointed. They are stiff and chewy and the filling was like biting into butter. It was that texture. Bön macaron makes the best ones. The servers here could smile a bit. It does make a difference in ones dining experience. Its open till 11pm. Overall it is a cool little hangout spot for grabbing a coffee or dessert.

One of my all time favorite café. The coffee buns are my favorite item on the menu. The café itself doesn’t have wifi but it does have shaw open and Telus direct. Great café to socialize or even study!

Giving it a 4 star because I actually only tried the green tea waffle here. I expected the waffle to be more like a Belgium waffle but it was more of a breakfast waffle that was a little bit on the soft/soggier side. If it had been harder or tastier I think it would have deserved a 5 star. The dessert was visually appealing and TBH I only went here for he picture anyways. All the toppings including the ice cream was great. For its price it was worth it and a good item to share with a friend. Although the waffle itself could use some work.

Very nice and quaint café. Love the décor and atmosphere of the shop. Good selection of drinks, had the hot chocolate and it was well made and delicious. The food was a bit lacking. We ordered two types of waffles and the snow ice. The waffle itself is soft and freshly made. However the toppings are very cheap and sparse. The waffles came with a macaron on top: the macarons are disgusting. The snow ice was the same, the ‘ice’ had a nice milky texture to it but the toppings are very lacking. It did not have fresh mangos and there was very few mango-like jelly and moochi. Overall a nice place to visit for a drink, but probably skip on the desserts.

A very cozy café just minutes away from Metrotown! Very nice place if you want to just relax or research. Sometimes the machines aren’t working so you have to make do with whatever drinks they have, other then that it’s a very nice Café!

A pleasant surprise after dinner along Kingsway strip! As busy as this strip can be, I chose to avoid finding parking altogether and instead, parked in Metrotown’s giant parking lot [shh], where there is a generous 4 hour limit per space. The walk from Metrotown to Café Joie was pleasant and only under 10 mins! Plus, you may not regret walking so much after your sweet escape at Joie. Pleasantly homey with cutesy minimalistic décor! The café itself is not too spacious aside from a couple small tables, chairs and a big wooden table large and long enough to sit about 8 people! The menu was not exceptionally diverse in selections but we happily settled for the Green Tea Waffles! In regards to how the presentation presented itself, it definitely looked a lot better than it tasted. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t exceptional. I did, however, enjoy how cute the macarons were! Café Joie is an overall nice space to get away to and do some therapeutic reading. Desserts were overall average as well.

We were going to a friend house for gathering and trying to get some desserts at Burnaby. Café Joie near Metrotown(Sussex Ave). It is clean and spacious café. They have coffee, tea, waffles, coffee buns, macarons and cakes. I bought few cakes and a box of macarons to go out. The cakes were too coloring and sweet. Macarons were good but not great.

A quaint little café just a stone’s throw away from Metrotown. The interior is beautifully decorated & feels very rustic. It gets pretty busy on evenings & Saturdays(closed Sundays). On separate occasions, I had the Chocolate Banana Waffle, the green tea latte, and 2 flavours of their macarons. The waffles always look gorgeous and come topped with 2 scoops of ice cream, whipped cream, and fruits. The chocolate banana one I had was delicious! Only minor gripe is that the waffle they use here is the soft kind. I like the crispy kind better. The green tea latte was smooth and creamy, not too overly sweet. I loved that they poured beautiful latte art too! Definitely looks & tastes better than Starbucks’ green tea latte anytime. The macarons here are bigger than those at most other macaron places. Taste wise, they were just average, nothing spectacular but also not bad. Overall, a cozy little café to spend a quiet afternoon at. Will be back again to try their other sweets!

What a nice modern café tucked away a block from Metropolis. We were looking for a dessert place and had a lovely green tea waffle with sweet potato latte and chai latte. Everything was good although the waffle was a little pricey, $ 11.

This is a nice place for catching up with friends over coffee and snacks. There’s a good variety of seating options and the décor is welcoming. The staff are also really nice. The drinks are standard, nothing to write home about.(London Fog was a little too sweet for my liking.) The macaroons are ok, bigger than normal portion but unfortunately didn’t stack up against my measuring stick(French Made Baking). They also serve sandwiches and other desserts. Parking options are limited.

So my review is based on the nutella latte and macarons. I would like to try the waffle someday. The latte was quite good, it had nutella flavours but it was subtle. I enjoyed the foam art heart. Macarons: coffee, chocolate, black sesame and strawberry. I was disappointed with the macarons. They taste like butter. It’s a buttery consistency and taste, like you can’t get ride of the fatty, greasy feeling in your mouth and on your fingers type of situation. I’m not a macaron snob but I don’t think the filling should be that buttery, thick and rich where it overpowers the pastry part. The actual cookie part was so so so delicious, it’s a shame the filling almost made me gag because I thought i bit into flavoured butter at first. I’m not a butter kind of gal as you can tell. I was also a but surprised the macaron can only be purchased as a set of 9(~$ 16) or individual($ 1.75 ea). No half dozen or dozen sizes. The interior looked cozy. It was a full house at 9pm ish on a Monday night. Looks like a good place to bring your laptop or catch up with friends.

Had shaved ice here because Seoul café was closed. The atmosphere is nice, very clean and bright. Nice date spot, but it is in a bit of an odd spot. I had a fruit smoothie, regular shaved ice and a mango shaved ice. The regular shaved ice was much too sweet, they put too much condensed milk. The mango shaved ice had the worst mangoes one could ever ask for. The fruit smoothie was smooth and tasted good. Overall, 3⁄5

This is a regular coffee and cake place. They do have macaroons but they are hallow inside. It doesn’t have that fluff, if you know what I mean. But their latte are not bad. I ordered a chai tea latte and they were able to make a nice artwork. I ordered the strawberry cake and it was ok. Not delicious. I am not sure if i ordered their popular item are not but I am assuming they are getting most of their businesses from the school located above them. Most people order the waffle. As well, when you walk in, you can smell something very cheesy but I couldn’t make out where its coming from. Probably from their panini. One thing that bothered me about this place is the fruit flies flying around. I moved spots and they still came. Grr… I want to kill them but there are too many.

I’m happy to see more cafes in burnaby area! Relaxing atmosphere and a good waffle. The green tea waffle was fresh and fluffy :) woo. The waffle is pretty pricey though. At this price range, i would expect more from it. It’s still a good waffle though! worth trying.

Their waffles are really nice looking. Creative and definitely big enough to feed more than one person. We had the strawberry and the green tea waffles and we definitely left with full stomachs. Unfortunately, the fruit they used was amazingly sour and caught us off guard, but it’s not too big of a deal. Service was casual. Nothing out of the ordinary here and nothing really stood out. Location is a little confusing. It’s below street level, but still visible from the street. We had trouble finding it and ended up having to park on Kingsway and walked in. We went at night very close to closing time so it wasn’t too difficult, but I can’t imagine where I would have parked if it was during rush hour. It’s not too far of a walk from the Metrotown Skytrain station if you’re taking public transit, so it may be more convenient that way.

Finally a decent coffee shop in central Bby. I stumbled upon this place while going to the post office. A co– worker told me to go but I never had the opportunity to go. I saw he sign and then it clicked, this place was the recommended coffee shop. What I got: We ordered the Nutella and Spanish latte. It was absolutely wonderful. I don’t like sweet drinks and it was not too sweet at all. The macarons were tempting but I was trying to be good, next time. Décor The décor was modern and the Korean owners have out some thought into this place. This will be my new meet-up spot. See ya later«fivebuck.»

Unfortunately this place was not so great. They don’t offer free wifi and the shaved ice was quite disappointing. Their was very little fruit even though I ordered the seasonal fruit shaved ice. The portion wasn’t great and they added cereal(corn pops) to this dessert. A lot of people ordered the waffle dessert, which seemed to be a bigger hit but I’m not sure I’ll be back!

The waffles and macarons tho… Café Joie is the bomb!!! I love how cute it is and I love the menu. Green tea waffles and earl gray macarons paired with matcha lattes = my heaven. I also love how they have the seasonal sweet potato lattes(I only get to have it when I go to Korea once every few years). The atmosphere is really cute and the interior is as well. Reminds me of all the cute Korean cafes that I miss. Perfect to come and relax and chat with friends :)

I’ve been waiting for a cool little café like this in Burnaby!!! Thank you Café Joie! Great coffee they carry JJBEAN. Located across from Metrotown if you want a break from the craziness of the mall this is a good place. Came on a very quite Monday afternoon, this place has about 13 tables plus several large communal ones. I had a latte very nice, comparable to my favourite cafes out there and a cute bear mango macaron. Im generally not a French macaron person, I have yet to have one that was mind blowing lol except in Paris at the famous Laduree. But you know it was good I was shockingly surprised! The café has waffles, panini sandwiches, and some pastry I have yet to try. But I feel like I’ll be a regular here.
