I went here for a work outing with about 15 people. Browns messed up on our reservation and cactus was VERY accommodating in such a short period. Our seating was a tad uncomfortable but they were really busy and we felt we got really lucky with what we had. I got the Rob’s Tuna Stack and also a side of yam fries. Love the Tuna Stack!!! The avocado and the balsamic vinegar were perfect with the dish. The ‘chips’ on the side definitely complemented the dish. The yam fries were tasty and crispy as is(no soggy fries please!) but the garlic mayo they had were to die for. CAN I BUY A TUB? The only thing is… parking. It’s a huge hassle at peak times. My coworkers parked at staples rooftop instead so that could be an option if there are no spots or you’ve run out of patience LOL

After a really bad and frustrating experience at Browns Socialhouse, we’ve decided to come here to Cactus Club. I’ve reserved seats at Browns Socialhouse for 15 people at least a few days ago, and then on the actual day, I was told they don’t do reservation. I was really frustrated because I’ve already pre-planned this for my team of 15 people. I was so upset because everyone was on their way to Browns. I phoned around the area and asked other restaurants like Joeys, and everybody said no, unfortunately they cannot accommodate 15 people last minute. I phoned Cactus Club and explained to them what happened, and I spoke to Grant(I think he was the store manager) and he was very accommodating. He still accepted us even though it was last minute. Everyone had an awesome time and their food here was the best! Everyone from my team said that it was probably good-luck that we ended up here at Cactus Club than Browns, because everyone had an awesome time!

If you order a steak in a restaurant like Cactus club and send more then halve the steak back does that indicate some issue or not? Why order a steak, rare, and not eat it? Well, at the Cactus Club that is none of their concern, but rather your’s. Why order a steak in a place like that. Cactus Club and other upmarket diners are so abundant in Vancouver that it is difficult to see the good places out there. It is utter nonsense to pay a premium price in any of the chain Restaurants that have mediocre trained staff who do not know what it means to be a waiter. This is my 5th visit to a Cactus Club and only once was the food up to standard. Every other time it is just a reminder not to go there again. In this case the steak looked like it was cut the wrong way. The taste was not all bad.

Now I’m not usually one to write a bad review for a place, but for a place like this, I expected much more. I was approached politely at the door and was seated after about a 15 minute wait. My cousin and I ordered drinks and sadly there was(what he believed) a food particle floating in his drink. They changed it for him 3 times and still, something floating around. The servers were polite about it but the manager gave us a bit of an attitude. I understand why but then again, don’t get mad at us when your cups aren’t cleaned properly. We also ordered the spicy chicken which was great. Overall, 3 stars for the servers and the spicy chicken. Would I recommend this place to others? Meh… not where I’d go again but you may have a better experience

After so many lousy experiences at Cactus Clubs, why did I go to another one? Simple — it was someone else’s pick. This time, instead of gambling on a main, I decided to go with Rob Feenie menu items(marked«RF» on the menu), and to put together my late-night dinner with two appys and dessert. Kobe Style Meatball Trio($ 12.25) roasted tomato sauce, freshly grated parmesan –There is a similar item on the mains, but with pasta. Get this instead to skip the pasta. –The meatballs were huge! Almost like tennis balls! If you finish this appetizer yourself, it probably counts as a light to medium main all on its own because of the sheer quantity of meat. –The meatballs themselves were tender and OK tasting. Could use more spicing to jazz up the flavour, but I can see why they wouldn’t waste doing that because of the sauce. –The sauce kills this dish. It is crazy salty! I recommend you try it on its own, then scrape most of it off your meatballs. Ravioli + Prawn Trio($ 13.50) butternut squash and mascarpone ravioli, truffle butter sauce, jumbo prawns, pine nuts –There is a similar item on the mains, but with pasta. Get this instead to skip the pasta. –They were hardly«jumbo» prawns. More like regular prawns. For«jumbo» sized prawns, try Joe Fortes. –The ravioli was deliciously sweet. –The sauce was winner! And brilliantly paired with the sweet ravioli. Delicious and creamy-rich. –Pine nuts wasted here as there wasn’t enough to really change up the texture. –Steep price, but so delicious. Key Lime Pie($ 8) –OK, not an RF item, but I wanted to end my meal on a refreshing citrus note. FAIL. –Yes, the creamy yellow pie part had some sour to it, but overall, the dessert was just very, very sweet — enough to give you that sugar burn at the back of your throat. –I ordered this LIME pie specifically for a sour citrusy flavour but it was just buried by too much sweetness and in the end it was starting to give me that tiredness of eating too much sugar. The opposite of what I had been hoping for in a dessert that night.

It was one of those nights where you want to have a great meal with friends and enjoy the good times. I basically ordered a tuna tartare and also some steak and it was a really good experience. The service was very fast and effective. I hopefully would want to come back again for this wonderful experience.

My boyfriend and I’ve been here for late nught eats and usually our experiences are decent. Last night was absolutely terrible. We had one server grab us water, didn’t really introduce herself. Then 15 minutes later we got another server«taking care» of us. The night was starting out okay. We got our drinks shortly after ordering it. I guess that’s a perk for sitting in the lounge area. Appies came shortly after. Our main meal didn’t come for a good half hour after. The staff seemed like they didn’t want to serve us at 9. We arrived at 9:20 ish and did not end up leaving till 11. Overall, that was the worst experience I’ve had at that cactus club. 1 star for the food.

We were looking for a good place to eat for a special occasion. Cactus club seemed decent. The wait was about 15 – 25 minutes, not too bad. We were greeted by the staff. The service is second to none here. We started with chicken wings, then moved on to fajitas, beef short rib sandwich, and a Cajun chicken sandwich. Chicken wings were decent at best, I could even make better ones. They were a tad too salty. My friend said that the rib sandwich was pretty good. Cajun chicken sandwich was good. The chicken had a nice smoky flavour to it, it was a bit spicy, not too spicy though. It’s not a burn but it’s there. Fajitas were also very good. Came with lots of toppings, though guacamole was extra. Good flavour and served in a nice hot cast iron skillet. We also ordered a Key Lime pie and a Chocolate Molten Lava Cake for dessert :) Both portions were probably meant for one, since they weren’t too big. At 8 dollars a piece, they weren’t worth it in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong though, they both tasted really good. Overall a nice experience, I would recommend this place for a nice dinner :-)

Came here for some lunch. The trick is to pop by before around 1145, after which the place gets pretty full. Parking is available in the nice large parking lot up the hill from the building. Be sure to park in the correct zone. The restaurant is divided into 2 main areas — a dining area with booths, and a bar area with raised booths as well as bar-style tables. There’s also a large S facing patio which is great for baking during the summer months. Staff were friendly and professional. Gotta give it to them. This is very consistent across the different locations. They came by frequently enough to ensure my buddy and I weren’t thirsty. The short rib sandwich is quite tasty. Bread is nice and crunchy, and it’s all about the caramelized onions. The beef jus was a bit too salty for my liking though. Fries are crispy but nothing special(they taste like the McCain variety). Food is a bit pricey here, but the ambience is nice and classy.

Came here for lunch and I have to say I love the atmosphere and the spaciousness. The windows are floor to ceiling and lets a lot of natural light in. In the summer their patio must be fantastic. I was a bit apprehensive when ordering their millionair’s cut steak but I was wowed by the flavour and accuracy it was cooked. Would definitely order it again. And yes, steak for lunch rocks haha

Usually like this place but service was so bad tonight. Food took forever and forgot one item but was tasty once it came. We were not asked for refills or check on food also. Strange as you work for tips.

This was my first visit to Cactus Club. I had been avoiding it based on its reputation for only hiring a specific type of woman and making them wear demeaning short skirts. My boyfriend suggested we give it try as it had been years since he had been. I ordered the butternut squash ravioli and my partner had the creole chicken. Every aspect of our meal was fresh and flavorful. Everything from our incredibly attentive server to our impeccable dinner impressed us. Our food was great and when we asked to have my leftovers wrapped up the manager(Sian) surprised us with a tote bag with a free dessert to take home with us. Our server had told her it was my first visit and to thank us for coming in they surprised us by covering our bill completely. By far the biggest surprise I could have ever expected in coming for dinner on a Sunday night. This is my local Cactus Club and they have DEFINITELY earned themselves a new customer.

WARNING! Apparently the Cactus Club offers«BONESHARDS» in their chicken and offer no recourse to injury. After injuring my tooth from biting into their chicken lettuce wraps I was told by the management team that there are bi-products that come with there food and this is normal!!! They took my bone shard and left me with my dental bill. **Maybe they should offer a warning with there menus!!!**

Nothing special about this cactus club, we went during happy hour and drinks start at $ 3. Hubby had a couple of beers and a sandwich. Me I had the tuna tataki and I’m sorry to say I was disappointed. It seemed like they ran out of tuna and gave me the leftover pieces and then drowned it in sauce to disguise that it wasn’t fresh. Sorry I have ordered the Tuna tataki over a dozen times at the downtown cactus club and it tastes way more fresh. The service was decent but I would rather go to the downtown Cactus club instead. The parking was easy though, just right behind the restaurant.

The Quinoa Salad is fresh, delicious, AMAZING. I first got it because it was one of the only vegetarian things, but now when my friends and I are going out to eat, I always suggest Cactus :) P. S. — To the folks that surprised us by covering our bill on October 1st around lunchtime, it did not go unappreciated. May great things come your way.

Came here to meet a friend for a spur of the moment dinner. The restaurant has been newly renovated in the past few years and they have a really nice patio with heat lamps if necessary and large umbrellas over each table for shade. Decided to sit outside as it was nice and warm. The waitress we had was really nice and attentive. She was very appropriate and checked up on us when seemed necessary and wasn’t overly nice(which I like because it just comes off as fake). That’s all I would really want in a server! We ordered the calamari to start. Nothing to call home about. I ordered the bandara salad and mojito, and friend had the spaghettini. All the food came out pretty quickly! My salad was ok, not great. The chicken in it was pretty good and serving size was nice for an entrée. I didn’t finish it all and was full. My mojito was nice and refreshing — sweet, lime’y, and minty. Detracted a star because of the noise level from the skytrain. Every time the train went by I think we had to stop what we were saying because the other couldn’t hear. Added a star for the great service. Added another because there was complementary valet, but subtracted it because I like to park my own car and ended up feeling guilty because I forgot to tip the guy at the end. Somehow that equals 4 stars, but it’s probably 3.5.

Came here for a work lunch — someone’s birthday and farewell party. They were really accommodating for our larger group(13 people) I had the Salmon rice bowl — it was delicious! Not too salty, lots of flavour but I did find it to be a little too moist for my liking(probably ask for less sauce next time). My only nitpicky thing is that some of our utensils were dirty, and one of us had a cup with some kind of stain around the rim. Not a huge deal because the server was very friendly when we asked for a replacement. Environment is great, lots of big windows so natural lighting. I find it much better than other Cactus locations that seem to be very dim inside.

Atm. not digging the server and the dj. She has been mostly M.I.A PRIOR to her being off. However, it’s the music completely killing the vibe. Trance, hip hop, dubstep, polka and then some… Whats wrong with the regular playlist? Kill me now.

This is my mother in law’s favourite restaurant because of their dessert. We ordered: Calamari — Perfectly battered and not chewy at all Yam Fries — Nice and crunchy Soy Dijon Salmon — they split this entrée in half for my in laws to share and it was still a hefty serving, the sauce was tangy without being too acidic and the Salmon was cooked perfectly. Seasonal Greens Salad with Feta and Almond — this is a huge salad, we shared it amongst the 4 of us as a side Thai Red Curry Lingcod, Green Beans and Jasmin Rice — Very nice Thai Red Curry which is not hot but have a nice infusion of lemon grass, the Lingcod was pan fried to perfection with a crunchy seal on top, the large serving of Green Beans was cooked perfectly, still have a good crunch but not raw. 4 Mushroom Sirloin with Demi Glaze and Garlic Mashes Potatoes — the beef was a little salty but otherwise a nicely cooked medium rare steak. Apple Galette — this is what we came here for, we stopped coming over the summer when they took it off the menu. Nicely cooked apples sitting on top the flakiest choux pastry with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream. This is a huge dessert and best to be shared, I ordered my own as it was just so good. This is the first time I tried the Thai Red Curry Lingcod and I will order it again. We had ordered the Jambalaya Bowl and Beef Short Rib Sandwich on previous visit and they are all good. We will continue to come back as long as they have Apple Galette on the menu.
