This place is some kind of fun. I’m not Dutch. I barely know anyone who is Dutch but I do love windmill cookies. They have them here. Also I discovered a Dutch breakfast treat: sprinkles on buttered toast. Sounds crazy, but there you have it. They call it hagelslag. Not to be confused with what Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel called his wife. This place is crammed with all manner of packaged Dutch foods. Dutch cheese and meats are in back. There’s dutch clothing and kitchen stuff off to the side. Not much English on the packages, so you have to guess a bit. For example the Dutch don’t call Gingerbread flavored stuff Gingerbread. They call it spekstruffelcrumpetpoder. But I’m sure it’s quite fine. Also, given the Dutch ruled over Indonesia for a bit, it turns out to be a great place to get some Indonesian spices and prepackaged goods. That said, orange makes me look like a rodeo clown so not much here I can wear.
