The Viewpoint

Loved this book store right across from our hotel. Great postcards. Loved the choices of books-​a variety of children’s books, local history books, wonderful books on trains, nature books (hiking, field guides). We were given a tip for a beautiful drive for our next morning adventure to view wildlife.

The Viewpoint is a great little bookshop right in the heart of Banff. I’m a postcard fanatic; I buy them all the time. You know how every souvenir shop has all the exact same cards? The Viewpoint has some of those, but some more variety, and cards and prints by local artists, too. They also have posters of different Canadian mountains. The really cool thing about The Viewpoint are all of the books. Books about pioneers, mountaineers, hiking trails, birds, wildlife, kids books and more. Every time I step into this place and flip over a paperback, I get transported to the mountains in the early 1900s and want to buy every book in the place! The men behind the counter are always chatting with someone about history or hiking or Banff in general, and always ask where you’re from and how long you’re staying. I love this store.
