This place is awesome. Simple BBQ joint that caters to that just need a burger feeling. I was tempted to try the Bala Burger — but was a little too serious for my mood. Instead, I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with Bala sauce and fries. The wait for the burgers was a little long — but it was well worth it. The burgers were perfectly cooked and substantial. The bacon was the melt in your mouth crunchy kind that oozes deliciousness. The fries were equally crunchy and soft — aka perfect. Great spot — and great burger.

Amazing pulled pork sandwiches! Highly recommend their special Garlic Parmesan fries with a side of bala sauce. Get one to share, as their special fry up is big enough for two. Would definitely go back again… It’s a great little BBQ shack tucked in Muskoka country!

Hungry after testing a few SUPs at the Paddle Shack in Bala, Jay, the owner, recommended that I give the Bala House a try for lunch (opened 3 weeks ago). Conveniently located across the street and 100 metres from the Kee we decided to give it a go.
I ordered a bacon and cheese burger, my girlfriend ordered their pulled pork sandwich, and we shared garlic & cheese fries with their special Bala sauce on the side.
I found the food delicious. The fries were crispy and not greasy with a good balance of cheese and garlic. But I have to say that the Bala sauce was well seasoned & creamy and was a perfect compliment to our fries.
I found my hamburger to be nice and moist with a healthy kaiser bun to patty ratio.
Jason (our server) and Matt (co-​owner and chef) were very hospitable and accommodating and even gave me directions to Port Carling. I’ll definitely hit this place up again next time I’m driving around Lake Muskoka.
I swung by again last weekend with my mom & girlfriend and ordered some more garlic fries (with special Bala Sauce) and some bacon cheeseburgers. Did not disappoint!
Jason and Matt were very accommodating and even showed me the smoker out back.
I recommend this little gem for anyone looking for a delicious lunch in Muskoka.
