Dawn To Dusk Café is located in a mostly empty strip mall just off McCallum Road. I happened to be in the area with my grandmother for an appointment. It was about 10:00am and my grandmother hadn’t had breakfast yet. I decided that we should grab a bite to eat. My first instinct was to go to the bakery next door to grab a bite as there seemed to be other customers there, but my grandmother wanted to sit down and eat. We were the only customers in the restaurant. The restaurant itself was a little grimy; the tables needed a good wipe down. In my opinion, if there aren’t any customers, the staff should be tidying up the place. The menu is a mish-mash of greasy spoon diner grub, pizza, and Indian food. I guess they need a new menu because some items were crossed out and others were handwritten in marker. We both ended up getting grilled cheese sandwiches and bottled water(apparently they don’t do tap water); I also got an order of fries. The total was about $ 13. After the lady took our order, she disappeared into the kitchen. I guess she was the only one working at the time. Fifteen minutes later, she came out of the kitchen with our sandwiches and my fries. She asked me if I wanted ketchup. I said yes. She grabbed a bottle from another table and plopped it in front of me. Part of the cap was missing and the top was gunked up with dried ketchup… I decided to pass on the ketchup after all. The grilled cheese was meh; it was similar to what I used to make for myself as a kid. Regular sliced bread and cheddar cheese(I guess I should be grateful that it wasn’t Kraft singles). It definitely wasn’t worth the price we paid. While we were there, two other customers came in for slices of pizza; I guess that’s this restaurant’s bread and butter. One customer asked for hot sauce or red pepper flakes and the man behind the counter pointed to a table at the other end of the restaurant and told her that she could get some over there. Not what I’d call good customer service. There is also a room at the back available for private parties, but I’m honestly not sure why anyone would choose this place as a venue. For those of you who thought«tl;dr» when you saw my review: The verdict on Dawn to Dusk Café — «Tcha, ya know what? Uh uh!»( )
