I was told that I could not legally leave Brazil without a visit to a Churrascaria. Seriously… it’s actually told to you by the immigration folks upon entry. So, don’t screw around. I was also told that this was the best one in Sao Jose, so I came here on a Wednesday evening right at 6:30 when they opened. I was the only person for a good 30 minutes… but food didn’t come out for about 15 of those minutes. Seems that, while they opened at 6:30, their food wasn’t quite ready yet. No big deal — I enjoyed a delicious caipirinha during my wait. I did avoid the salad bar, but it looked delicious. When the food did come out, it came out fast and furious, along with the fillers of polenta(delicious), banana(delicious), bread and french fries. My favorite meats were chicken heart(apparently popular with kids… I don’t care, I loved them), picanha, and filet. I was disappointed by the bacon-wrapped chicken and the sirloin, which both tasted cheap. They also had other cuts of beef, chicken, and fish(the salmon was quite good). Service throughout was incredibly friendly. They were able to say everything that I was getting in English, but not much else. No problem whatsoever — I was surprised to even hear that much English. For one caiprinha, two chopp’s, and the dinner, it came to R$ 115, or just under US$ 50. I was happy with that price.
