One of the popular spot to hang out on some days in Rio. You can order foods and drinks to have on the sidewalk or dine inside if you get in there early or braved the wait. Then you’ve got all these people hanging out at the corners around. It’s madness on the weekends. Unfortunately I do not speak Portuguese well, but my friends told me that sometimes you can see local celebs there.
So in generally the wait is crazy, and non-​vegetarian friendly. But you can have a good meal there for sure.

Small tiny place for locals to hang out. Really! You want to meet girls or guys in Leblon or Gavea area, this is the spot on Fridays or Saturdays. It is small, with other small spots next to each other. They have food and lots of beer. People come here to meet each other, possible mate :-)

There’s nothing like the city of Rio in The States but if I had to make a comparison for Americans it’d be like a combination of New York, LA, and Las Vegas all rolled into one. Casual dress is pretty much always acceptable and it’s a total beach vibe, (LA) there’s an indescribable energy and businesses are close quartered (NYC) and you can drink absolutely anywhere. (Vegas)
B.G. is just one of the bars in this Baixo Gavea area that is part of a Mardi Gras-​like street party and it’s unlike anything you’ve probably ever seen if you’re from the US. You grab a drink, spill out into the street, try to samba with strangers that don’t speak English very well, and repeat several more times till you hit up all the bars on the block.
B.G. is not only the bar in the midst of this madness that I remember most clearly, but it’s the one that had the quickest bathroom/​bar lines and that’s a big deal when you’re at this amazing street party.
You just have to go to understand.

Baixo gavea is a must go to hang out place to meet hot hipster locals and tourists. Like most bars in Rio; shorts and flip flops are fine (but make it sexy ppl! After all it’s Rio!)

Você não vai ver nada demais aqui, ok? E pra ser bem sincera, é exatamente esse clima descontraído que faz do BG um bar super bacana de frequentar. Famoso entre o pessoal da Zona Sul, vale a pena dar uma passada lá, onde quase nunca fica vazio.
O preço é ok — não é baratinho, mas ninguém vai levar susto também. As quintas são lotadas e os sábados agitados, mas com lugar pra sentar (o que eu sempre curto, hehe).
Pode ir sem medo!

Um bar muito famoso da Zona Sul do Rio de Janeiro e muito frequentado por moradores da cidade e principalmente da região. Mesmo não entrando no bar, as pessoas dizem que vão para lá pra ficar nas ruas do entorno, que ás quintas-​feiras vira uma espécie de Lapa. Muita gente mesmo!
Lá os preços são estilo zona sul mesmo, não é dos mais baratos, mas está longe de ser caro. O bar é aberto e tal, grande, mas quando lotado fica difícil de passar e você encara filas grandes nos banheiros.
Mas dá pra por uma mesa grande para grupos tranquilamente, só chegar cedo.

O Baixo Gávea Bar ou BG Bar é um dos bares mais conhecidos e frequentados pelos moradores da Zona Sul Carioca. Local onde jovens de todas as idades se encontram e tomam uma cerveja gelada.
O dia mais cheio é quinta-​feira, mas não quer dizer que você não tenha que ir para lá esse dia, vá! Esse é o dia que o bar é mais bem frequentado e certamente seus amigos estarão lá já te esperando para mais uma rodada de cerveja.
Fale com o barmen Bigode, ele vai estar com uma cara de zangado, mas é boa pessoa.
