Great location and great vibe, but be careful what you order — we ended up with giant platters of generic deep fried seafood. By far my worst meal in Brazil so far. It could have been Red Lobster.

I believe this is the most emblematic restaurant in Florianópolis. Decoration is very authentic and consists of innumerous notes left by countless visitors glued to the walls and ceiling. Look it up and you will find nice messages written in all kinds of languages. Overall atmosphere is neat, and the view to «Pantano do Sul» beach is really nice. The food is good, but ridiculously expensive. Service is also good. They do not have a parking lot, and finding a place to park on the street can be a hassle.

Love this restaurant. Came to this beach with my girlfriend and we were pretty hungry so she took me to Arantes. I hadn’t heard anything about this restaurant but my girlfriend told me it was super famous. So I walked in and the first thing I noticed was that there were napkins taped to the ceilings and walls. Napkins, reciepts, dollar bills, everything imaginable with words written about Arantes. The owner asked me if I wanted to do a la carte or the buffet for lunch and showed me the buffet. The first thing that I saw were the oysters still in the shell. I immediately said I wanted to do the buffet before even looking at the other food. Oh. The other dishes looked AWESOME as well. My first plate consisted of about 25 oysters which I promptly DEVOURED! The oysters were extremely fresh and were caught that morning. I then went for seconds but this time tried the other dishes. They had a ton of fresh fish dishes with all sorts of sauces. I wish that I lived right next door so that I could try each dish. There were just too many to choose from and I had to eat another 25 fresh oysters before I left too so I tried a little bit of everything and was not disappointed. Of course I then got another 25 fresh oysters and ANNIHILATED them again. By then, I was completely full. Actually, I was stuffed to the brim and more. I had a hard time moving afterwards but for the pain of being full, it was completely worth it!!! Too bad this restaurant is completely out of the way. If it wasn’t, I would be here every single time I come to visit.

Yes of course it is one of the most famous bars/fish restaurants on the island. But this doesn’t mean it’s a tourist trap. If you’re visiting ilha do florianópolis you definitely have to come here. Located directly at the beach in the very south of the island you can have a wonderful evening here with fresh fish, sun, nice people and if you’re lucky good live music. We had prawns in oil and garlic and fish. Kind of portuguese style of kitchen that means you find sth. else than fried fish. Not the cheapest place but definitely worth a visit.

Video link:
