De Cirque

Whatever you do, DO NOT EAT THE RAW OYSTERS! My colleague and I both ate them and were sick a day later. My other colleagues (who did not eat them) were fine. Service is unprofessional, but sweet. The rest of the meal was good.

Located in the Fish Market (not an indoor market but a square) in Mechelen which, of course, is right on the water, this place looks very basic, with white walls without any photos or paintings on them. This is very deceiving however. The food is excellent. I ordered tacos, which were the regular taco shells but tasted so different and very good. It came with a small, very small salad and a side bowl of chili peppers, along with some taco topping and sour cream.
They have a very extensive drinks menu as well as a food menu. The lasagne and spaghetti also looked very interesting, although didn’t get to taste them.
The place appears to be very popular. Got there early afternoon and most of the tables already had «reserved» signs on them. There is also seating out in front and the weather was nice, so that was full.
Overall, a nice comfortable place with waiters who speak English and are very polite and accommodating. Recommended.
