I was looking for a café where I could sit with my dog and enjoy a light breakfast. My concierge recommended Mokafe because it was nearby in the Gallerie and since it was raining I thought it was a perfect idea. There’s seating outside the café but still in the Gallerie so it’s covered. They have an extensive menu, but I ordered a latte and a croissant which came out to 4.10 €. The service was very friendly and you can tell its frequented by locals having their morning coffee. Would I go back? Yes. It’s a simple no frills café where you can start your day.

Oh my gosh! So so so good! Heck, I’ll even give it 5 stars even though drinks are very expensive! You must try the waffles here. I’m not much of a waffles person but these are a perfect balance between dense and crispy. The waiter was also very friendly and there’s a cat to draw your attention for a bit! Maybe not if you’re allergic but I highly recommend this café.

Came in for breakfast. So delicious! The prices were fine. It was a great place to sit alone and read and have café and Gaufres!

Food is fine and coffee is good. However, if customer service is something you care for, there are far better establishments. I politely stopped my waiter three times to order additional food/drink. He barked at me in French, «You need to order all at the same time. There are a lot of people here.» There is apparently no manager in the establishment with whom to communicate why some restaurants, even from Americans, get no tips and poor reviews. The day a waiter turns down my order, for which I PAY, is the day that establishment loses my patronage and my recommendation.

— Price/Quality: For a tavern in the middle of the Galerie du Roi, prices are expensive but reasonable, given the touristy setting. — Health: Depends on what you choose to eat. — Pleasure: I loved the ‘salade folle’, the ‘avocado avec crevettes’ and the ‘tartine maison’. I’ve had a couple of great lunches here. — Quantity: You’ll get a good amount of what you’ve ordered. — Variety: They have a wide range of food to choose from. Next to some Belgian specialities(which I mostly hate) on their menu, they have pastas, sandwiches, salads, omelets, pies, crepes, etc. There’s definitely something you’ll like.

Had a bit of a layover in Brussels yesterday so stumbled into this place on the recommendation of a friend who grew up here. The first thing I noticed is the gorgeous setting — think high end gold coloured almost shopping mall like place filled with locals and tourists alike. We each got a waffle — one with sugar, one with strawberries — and they were excellent. Warm, light, crisp, everything you’d want in a waffle. We were a bit nervous about it being too touristy as it’s so close to the Grand Place, but are very glad we went. The waiter was a bit awkward, silently showing up and hovering waiting for us to place our order… but we didn’t see him behind us at first, so don’t know how long he stood there! One thing to note is they do bring the receipt with the drinks, so we paid when he came back with our waffles. Not sure if this is a European thing, a Brussels thing, or just a Mokafe thing. Either way, it is what it is, and it did mean we were free to leave as soon as we were done.

Nice spot in the beautiful old glass covered shopping St. Hubert’s Galleries! A bit touristic. I had the smoked salmon toast with scrambled eggs! It was really really good!(10 € approx.!). Great location, nice food, fair price & friendly service!

A great place for people-watching in the Galleries de St Hubert while enjoying a non-tourist waffle and a beverage. Their desserts looked AMAZING but we didn’t try any.

Place is known for the Waffles, and I must admit they were pretty good. I ordered the Sugar waffle, with whip crème and chocolate liquid on the side. It tasted really good, and fresh obviously. The hot coffee I ordered was not as good as I hoped it would be, and there was a strange smell in the place since I entered, it was something pungent and was a bit of an odd thing.

Summary: Great spot on a beautiful strip to watch passersby. Open fairly early if you’ve an early flight and are in need of coffee. Very chilled out staff. Yes! they have wi-fi. Atmosphere: A truly fantastic spot if you’ve landed on the 7am flights from the US. They open fairly early and you can grab a seat on their patio chairs and watch the morning start as the joggers and other tourists pass by. The food: Really adorable and nice. I had a banana and chocolate waffle which was lovely. The coffee was great as it always is in these types of spots. Service: Super chilled out and nice. I was compelled given the niceness of the guy and how he went out of his way even though I was a perplexed confused soul post-flight.

The Mokafe Taverne is a typical European café with outdoor seating which is great for people watching(actually, the seating isn’t really outdoors since the entire block is technically inside a glass enclosure). I was expecting the usual indifferent European café service, but the man running the show was charming, responsive, and patient. My colleague and I just had a simple lunch(me: salade aux lardons, him: croque monsieur), but the real key to the experience was the dessert(some kind of raspberry cake or torte — we just pointed to it on the table of the ladies next to us without really asking what it was).

Quand tu veux !
