Letiuz Salad Bar

This is a great place that was missing from the Place de Luxembourg area. You can enjoy fresh salad and decide on its ingredients yourself. For 8.5 euros you get a salad (lettuce, spinach or pasta as base) and you can add four ingredients + meat or fish. The tortilla is also tasty. Staff very friendly. Just beware that you might have to wait 5 – 10 minutes in the queue when it gets super busy at around 1pm

My colleagues know I love food. They invited me flagging how great this place was. «You know, you can make your own salad and people are dressed like farmers.» I was told.
I already knew what I was going for. So let’s call things the way they are. Letiuz is a place where you can eat overpriced salads. I should probably finish my review here (I’m not a big fan of such places) but I must give a little credit to the concept behind Letiuz.
When you enter you have a variety of lettuce, mixed salad, salade de ble etc… which you can «upgrade» with a number of toppings (ham, chicken, tuna, olives, cheese etc…) beware that «special» toppings or more «protein-​based» toppings cost an additional 1.80 € each! The quality of the food is good. The salads are very fresh and you can see the quality of the toppings was high. Anyway, for a small soup and a salad you end up paying 12 – 13 €. If you are a model working on your next photo shooting and need to keep on a strict diet, that’s fine. If you are a regular-​sized bloke you can live with that. If you enjoy eating and have significant calories needs for lunch (like me) avoid it. With the same money you can get better deals in the area.
I’m giving it three stars because the staff was very kind.

Le Letiuz Salad Bar est une bonne solution pour une salade de bonne qualité entre 2 réunions, quartier européen oblige, sur place ou à emporter.
On choisit la salade de base (épinard, mâche, laitue, roquette, pâtes) puis on choisit 4 ingrédients pour compléter le tout. Les ingrédients sont plutôt bons et il y a beaucoup de choix. Un euro en plus par ingrédient supplémentaire et pour certain plus spéciaux. La salade de base (avec 4 ingrédients) coûte 7 euros, c est cher dans l absolu mais comparé aux prix environnants, ça reste dans la fourchette.
Une sélection de jus de fruits frais divers, sandwichs et petits desserts sont aussi proposés.
Le cadre est plutôt joli et agréable (décoré récup/​écolo/​chic) pour une pause midi et les salades sur place sont servies dans des grands saladiers, ce qui donne l impression d’avoir une énorme quantité.
La carte fidélité donne droit à une salade gratuite après 10 achetées et petit plus écolo: si vous amenez votre sac et/​ou votre boîte, vous avez droit à 5% de remise pour chacune de ces 2 actions :-). J’ai découvert ça part hasard mais ce n est pas mis en évidence malheureusement.

J’aime bien le Letiuz Salad bar… même si j’ai toujours du mal à prononcer le nom ;-)
Bön blague à part, c’est un bel endroit, très propre avec un staff aimable qui fait bien ces salades.
On choisi une base de salade iceberg, épinard, jeune pousse ou pâte et on peut accompagner celle-​ci d’une très complète sélection d’accompagnement carotte, tomate, poulet, thon, concombre, croutons, mozzarella etc… c’est très très exhaustif et une fois choisi on arrose le tout d’un dressing au choix.
A boire on peut se faire préparer un bon petit jus/​smoothie sinon des softs.
Donc voilà moi j’aime bien et j’y vais de temps en temps, mais je retire une petite étoile pour le manqué de choix dans les bases (quinoa serait sympa), et une autre parce que l’influence du quartier fait que c’est quand même assez cher.
Mais je le répète c’est très bon!

The concept is very simple. You get two choices of soups, a quiche, a tortilla, a salad base and a counter full of choices to pick’n’mix for your salad. Then, you can add more yummi ingredients for a small addition, and a sauce for free.
The price? Always between 7 – 12 EUR for a salad (base + 4 ingredients). It actually depends if you add many things in it. My absolute favourite is any salad with their Honey-​Mustard sauce.
They also make super yummi, fresh and healthy smoothies (one is always discounted as the Smoothie of the Month) and they have wonderful tea and nice cupcakes.
Some of the friends I brought here actually think that it is a bit funny the way they dress (hipster farmers) but I find the staff always helpful. They speak French and English (haven’t tried Dutch yet).
You can eat in or take away and you can also order in, if you are in the European area, they deliver for free, with a bike.
In sunny days you can also sit in the small tables outside (only 3, so first-​come-​first-​serve) and enjoy the look on Square de Meeus, but I like to sit inside: the décor is trendy and natural. Based on wood. Super design chairs and tables. I love their wooden trays and the salad bowl. The cups for tea are also lovely.
My quest for a real pick’n’mix salad bar in Brussels has ended. Letiuz earns my personal «Best salad bar in town» badge and all my love and respect. My favourite for work lunches and quick eats during working days. That’s all.
