Paddy O’Ryan is a welcoming Irish pub, but also a great restaurant as well. Irish stew, burgers and fish and chips are available, but there are several other great options on the menu including vegetarian stuffed peppers, and seafood. I had a nice piece of baked catfish, crusted with almonds and salami. Served with salad and chips(fries), this made for a very satisfying meal. Beer selections include Guinness, of course, as well as Kilkenny, Grolsch, and Old Speckled Hen. They have a fine selection of whiskey and scotch, with several rotating varieties. The best part about Paddy O’Ryan is the free live music on Wednesdays, varying from traditional Irish music to alt country. Local groups as well as international touring acts find their way to Paddy’s, which must be a good sign!

As the name suggests, Paddy O’Ryan is an Irish pub nestled right into a bustling Leeuwarden street. I really liked this pub. The servers were friendly and prompt, prices reasonable and atmosphere cozy. Paddy O’Ryan’s was also where I had my first bitterballen, which is basically a deep fried ball of meat. It was surprisingly good, however I am convinced I could deep fry my pinky toe and it would taste good.
