Not a whole lot to say. We were seated right away. The service was friendly and helpful. The drinks and the food came out fast.
Very small menu. Which I feel is a good thing. Means they offer a limited menu, and they do it right. As an American, it was nice to see in their menu they had an English menu. They also have their menu in several languages. Which is very nice.
The food came out hot and was quite flavorful. Pretty good food. The servings are of a pretty size portion too. Craft beers as well as desserts! A lot of food. Not a whole lot more you can ask for, good food, good service, and a good ambiance. When I’m in this area again, we will probably come here.

Wolfgang, our server, was amazing. We had prompt and happy service, and he gave us great suggestions for both beer and food.
I had the cheese dumplings with salad. The dumplings were plump and super cheesy but not too much, ensuring that you could taste the delicious vegetable filling. The salad was so good (lettuce, shredders carrot, tomato and a delicious dressing) that I could’ve eaten 2 salads and skipped my main! My friend had grosstle, fried potatoes with beef and pork and a fried egg on top served in a skillet. Everything was excellently flavoured, absolutely delicious and presented with a smile.

We had the meal for two (I don’t know German, sadly) and shared it between the 3 of us. It was delish and the plates stayed warm on the warmer while waiting for our food. :) The beer was tasty and my mother had the spiked hot chocolate and loved it.

We decided to try this place after we’d done a walking tour and spent some time walking around old town. It’s right in the middle of everything and had good reviews, so we decided to check it out and hope that it wasn’t too touristy. This place is really great. Nice and cozy, friendly service, good beer, and delicious Austrian food — and it even had a few locals. It’s perfect for a lunch or dinner when you want some traditional local food, or just a good beer. I highly recommend the roast pork, followed by the schnitzel (but I also didn’t try the goulash).

Wonderful place! Great food fantastic service and just a great all around must-​do! Open later than most with a warm feeling and happy environment. We have two pre-​teenagers and they both loved it! The menu was in so many different languages and if you read the beginning of the menus you can see that and that this is a welcoming tavern to all! Very clean and historic building! The waiter even gave us tons of tips on things to do in the area! Highly recommended!

Stopped in here because it was late and they were open until midnight. Had the potato and bacon soup… really good, the goulash was also good but not great. I liked the strudel. The beer was very good and the waiters were friendly and gave me good recommendations. Can’t beat the location, the building was built in the 1500’s and there is an old dried up water well in the middle of the hallway with a skeleton holding a beer stein! That’s what happens to you if you don’t pay the bill my waiter said! Haha! I’d come back!

While located in a tourist area, I was pleasantly surprised by this Beerhouse. I sat at one of the sidewalk tables which was perfect for people watching and enjoying the square. The service was good, reasonable prices for the area and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. The menu is a variety of Austrian food with a section of specials.
I had a fish sandwich and was pleased with the ratio of sandwich fillings to bread. The potato wedges were hot and crispy. A good among of food, though not overwhelming.

Mitten in Salzburg. Die Einrichtung ist rustikal und passt perfekt zu der Kneipe. Das Bier ist lecker und der Service schnell, nett und professionell! Ob man dort essen muss weiß ich nicht. Ich hatte die Grillplatte und hatte schon besseres Essen. War ok… nicht mehr und nicht weniger. Mit einer Gruppe zum Bier jederzeit. Zum essen wohl eher nicht.

Horrible service. Menu card clearly states that service fees are included in the prices. Waiter caused a scene and had to be shown the menu to refresh himself of his own establishment’s policies. Paying over 30% with mandatory and extra service charges was excessive, the food was decent but not freshly prepared on order, I would go anywhere else, this practice seemed as dishonest as a strip club hustle.

Nett, um günstig und schnell etwas Landestypisches zu essen und dabei ein Bierchen zu trinken. Angenehme und gemütliche Atmosphäre im Brauhausstil. Der Grillteller war gut und von der Menge her ausreichend. Sicherlich habe ich, insbesondere in Österreich, schon besser gegessen, aber in Salzburg etwas zu finden, was nicht Abzocke für die internationalen Touristen ist, finde ich auch nicht so einfach. Es sei denn, man zahlt richtig viel und geht sehr fein essen, aber das will man sich ja auch nicht jeden Tag gönnen.

Angenehm dass hier Raucher und Nichtraucher die Möglichkeit geboten wir getrennt zu sitzen. Man soll gar nicht glauben wie sehr man sich daran gewöhnt dass nicht mehr in Gastwirtschaften geraucht wird.
Die Preise sind der Lage des Bierhauses angepasst aber auch der Leistung entsprechend.
Das Ambiente ist äußerst gemütlich und lädt zum verweilen ein.

Food came out way too fast to be freshly made. Apple strudel seemed to be reheated in microwave crust was soggy but flavor was good.
The ambiance is good so stop by for a beer, but skip the food.
I was trying to eat healthy so had a sesame encrusted salmon… it came out breded and fried.
My husbands cheese spaetzle had disappointing noodles and fried onions on top that tasted burnt.

Waren zugegeben schon etwas später (ca. 30 Minuten vor Geschäftsschluß) dort. Kaffee bekam ich keinen mehr, weil die Maschine schon gereinigt war. Schon ok dort. Für mich ist es seit vielen Jahren ein «Notnagel»: Das Zipfer hat lange Öffnungszeiten. Das Serviceteam ist auf Zack, die Speisen– und Getränkeauswahl «ortsüblich».

Nice old school bierhaus on the Universitaatsplatz. On a nice day they have tables in the square and there’s great people watching to go with the beer. The building was where Nannerl, Mozart’s sister spent here last several years. The Zipfer bier came in a few varieties, all very tasty. The salad that came with the meal was amazing. Layers of tender lettuce with various pickled veggies tucked inside and potato salad underneath. I would come back just for that.

Die in die Wand eingelassenen Abzüge funktionieren über die Zeit. Urtyp und Vollkornnudel sind im Trend.

Altehrwürdige Gaststätte …
Für meinen Geschmack und für meine Bedürfnisse die beste Gaststätte in der Altstadt, wenn auch ein wenig teuer. Das Essen ist gut, das Bier noch besser, das Ambiente gemütlich und gediegen, der Wirt und sein Personal sehr nett und freundlich, könnte besser nicht sein. Alles in allem bekommt das Zipfer Bierhaus von mir 5 Sterne, vor allem auch deshalb, weil hier «Einheimische» und Touristen gleichermaßen höflich bedient werden.

A Gulasch und a Seidl Bier .
Was will man mehr in dieser geplagten Stadt. Endlich was Normales: Normale Menschen, normales Essen, kein Mozartverweis (bis auf die vom Vorschreiber entdeckte Wandtafel) Das Bier gut — das Essen sättigend. Ein wunderbarer Abend — Salzburg ist doch eine Reise wert

Gemütliches, altes Salzburger Bierlokal. Gute, zentrale Lage, im Sommer einen gemütlichen Gastgarten auf den Universitätsplatz raus.
Das Essen ist auch sehr gut, es gibt klassisch österreichische Küche

Aha, Mozart’s Schwester Nannerl wohnte beinahe 3 Jahrzehnte in diesem Haus neben der Kollegiumskirche So las ich es am Tage auf dem Schild an der Wand des Brauhauses.
Müde und hungrig nach der Erkundung der Altstadt, kam ich des Abends hier wieder vorbei, lief vom Eingang in der Sigmund-​Häffner-​Gasse durch die Bierstube, vorbei an der Küche und an der Gaststube –schwupps– wieder hinaus zum Nannerl-​Schild Es war gutes Wetter und der Gastgarten auf dem Universitätsplatz war ziemlich voll die Teller auch, und schon war ich überredet, dort auch etwas zu essen. Die Küche (österreichisch) ist einfach und gut, das Preis-​Leistungsverhältnis ok und das Kellerbier ist (3,40) nicht billig aber ausgezeichnet.
Die Bedienung ist sehr nett und schnell + der Gastgarten ist abends, wenn die Besucherströme versiegt sind, sehr gemütlich.
