Best seafood ever. Hidden gem for the locals that I found by chance in the middle of December. Fresh selection of seafood dishes that you can choose in quantity you like. Nice nautical interior too. Definitely go again…

The food was good however the staff was incredibly unfriendly. I have worked as a server for many years and have had many encounters with foreigners. You don’t have to be rude because we don’t speak your language. I am going to pay you for a service. Okay so here goes… My husband speaks some German but just asked if they speak English too. And this big man with a black beard responds in a sorta mocking way asking if my husband speaks German too. Mind you the bearded man never answered my husbands question. My husband said yes but speaks better English. The man just walks away and ignores us. And then a younger fella walks over and helps us. He gave us good suggestions but ignored us for the most part. There were people who came way after us that got served before us. Also we had a table outside and the bearded man turned on everyone’s heat lamp but ours. It felt as if he was ignoring us on purpose. I know someone posted previously that it felt as if they were being rude just because they were Americans. And I agree.

Geheimtipp!(Leider nicht mehr, also unbedingt reservieren.) Das besondere ist, dass es keine Speisekarte gibt. Stattdessen wird das Essen individuell gestaltet, je nach dem welche Meeresfrüchte oder Fische am besten schmecken. Hervorragende Weine runden das Angebot ab, vor allem der Quercus Weiswein aus Slovenien ist göttlich.

I very much wanted to like this restaurant as my husband has travel to Croatia and enjoyed it very much. The owner is Croatian. When we arrived the restaurant had mistaken the reservation for three but it had been made for two and was made by the hotel Auesperg while we sat with the hotel owner. We were offered a seat we could not reach because some local residents blocked its access. They were very unhappy to move for us and the chilly reception started a negative evening. We eventually moved from the inaccessible table to another only to be moved inside as it started to rain, even though they opened their retractable roof. We were the only people asked to move inside. It began to feel like our being«Americans» was working against us. We arrived at 7:10 and did not get our main dish until 8:50 and everyone in and outside of the restaurant was served even if they arrived after U.S. We were presented with a whole fish and were left to debone it ourselves even though we saw the owner debone everyone else’s. The fish was well cooked but the atmosphere and tension between the locals and ourselves was palpable. We had been to Esszimmer earlier in the week and gotten exceptional treatment and an amazing meal, so this was rather shocking. We chalked it up to having just seen the movie the Woman in Gold and perhaps a bit sensitive to the potential prejudice. Needless to say we would not go back to Pescheria Backi but have plans to return tomorrow to EssZimmer where the food and service were truly remarkable and an experience to remember.

Nach wie vor eine Institution in Salzburg wenn es um Fisch geht! War schon lange nicht mehr da und war erfreut, dass das superkleine Lokal etwas größer und heller wurde. Herrlich gegessen — unbedingt den Lachssalat probieren… Zum Niederknien. Es gibt hier keine Karte sondern man sucht sich den Fisch aus… In jedem Fall ein Must, wenn man Fisch liebt… Wir kommen jetzt wieder öfter! Kompliment an Küche und Service!

Ein Besuch bei Backi ist noch immer ein kulinarisches Erlebnis, auch wenn das Lokal total renoviert wurde. Jetzt präsentiert sich die Pescheria stylisch und modern und hat trotzdem nichts an Gemütlichkeit verloren. An der Qualität und Frische der Speisen hat sich nichts geändert, Hr. Backi steht in der Küche und bereitet köstlichste Fisch– und Muschelgerichte zu. Frau Bernadette, unsere Kellnerin, war bezaubernd, freundlich, schnell und kompetent. Vor ein paar Tagen eröffnete Hr. Backi auf der gegenüberliegenden Straße eine«Weintankstelle». Dort kann man jetzt den ausgezeichneten Wein«Quercus» kaufen.

This tiny but cute Croatian restaurant is one the very few legit fish restaurants in Salzburg and oh my is it delicious. They don’t have a menu you just pick whatever looks appealing to you and they prepare it for you. You can also put together your own appetizer platter, which we did and it was just great. Sweet-sour salmon salad, little marinated fish, tuna carpaccio etc. As a main we(3 people) shared a turbot with calamari, both were outstanding the fish was really tasty and well seasoned and the seafood was super fresh and not rubbery at all. Wine was good and service was quick, friendly and attentive. Although it isn’t the cheapest place it is definitely worth every penny and you do really get for what you pay! Big thumbs up and we’ll be back!

Die Speise sind sehr schmackhaft! Fisch, Muschel… alles ist super!Es gibt keine Menū, aber man kann vor die vielfältigen frischen Meeresprodukte direkt bestellen oder die Vorschlägen von der Kellerin annehmen. Wenn Sie zwischen der«Spitzzeit» dort essen wollen, eine Reservierung ist wahrscheinlich benötigt!

Wenn man das Restaurant betritt fühlt man sich wie in einer Fischerkneipe im Hafen. Klein und gemütlich mit nur wenigen Tischen. Leider wurde unsere Reservierung verschusselt. Dem Kellner war es sichtlich peinlich und er hat sich zig mal entschuldigt und uns sogleich 2 Flaschen Wein gebracht. Nachdem wir noch einen weiteren Tag in Salzburg waren, haben wir uns für einen Tisch am nächsten Abend entschieden. Am nächsten Tag war dann alles bestens. Stefan, Kellner und Koch hat uns einen großen Tisch zugewiesen und erstmal einen Prosecco und danach noch eine kleine Aufmerksamkeit aus der Küche gebracht. Es gibt keine Speisekarte, den Fisch kann man sich aus der Theke auswählen. Wir entschieden uns für Muscheln und Scampi. An diesem Abend hat Stefan gekocht und alles war ausgezeichnet. Als wir gegangen sind hat er uns nochmal eine Flasche Wein in die Hand gedrückt. Seine Freundlichkeit und Herzlichkeit hat uns für das verschusseln der Reservierung mehr als entschädigt und wir werden sicher bei unserem nächsten Besuch in Salzburg wieder vorbeischauen.

we ended up at the pescheria baki after reading some reviews on the internet, the place was great, nice little taverna style restaurant, in summer there are tables outside but we ended up inside because it was full. The waiters were very nice, and friendly. The service attentive without being intrusive. They don’t have a proper menu’ so we actually went with what our waiter suggested. This was a mix starter including salmon, tuna, mackerel, anchovies, scampi vegetables. The main dish consisted on a whole sea bass with sauté’ vegetables and potatoes, it was simply divine. We washed everything down with some nice white wine. All this set us back 90 Euro and it was worth every cent. Highly recommended
