Located next to the famous birth house of Mozart, Nordsee is more or less for tourists. I have eaten here a couple of times and I can imagine myself going back there now and then but honestly, it is not that special and there are better places to eat(and better Nordsee restaurants in general!). Besides, it is quite expensive and very crowded. Food is OK, though. It is not too bad for a quick meal if you cannot decide where else to go, but I would not go here intentionally.

Horrible service Apparently, they don’t even care enough to mark that certain condiments cost money, and when I tried to return the condiments, the staff were exceptionally rude and disrespectful. The food tastes like cardboard, and the overall experience was very bad. Our tour guide recommended that location, but she obviously was compensated for the recommendation. Anyone who is visiting from the states, expect horrible service and worse pricing. The fries were grossly undercooked and the meal was the worst one I had in Europe. Would definitely not eat again.

Great lunch, very busy-popular place. You can’t resist the colorful dishes in the deli-type counter showing through the front windows as you walk past. As you go through the cafeteria-type line, it’s hard to decide which dishes to select, so be careful, it can add up & end up being a fairly expensive lunch. Rain’s white asparagus-crawfish salad was amazing.

Salzburg was my first ever experience for Nordsee and the first one I really saw this seafood fast food type restaurant(although I also noticed one on Vienna later in the week). Basically it is fast food seafood, so fried fish sandwiches, fries, they also have shrimp, seafood salads, lobster claws, a fairly large selection of different seafood dishes. This location is arranged with the fried counter on one side and the more dining style foods on the other. At one point I had asked the fried counter server to substitute fries for rice on the other counter and the server nearly blew a gasket. I guess they don’t do that type of customer centric type thing. I ended up just going to the other counter later and just being a cheap side of rice. I ended up getting a fried fish sandwich. It was good and hit the spot, especially with a cold beer, however it is not much more than a McDonalds fish fillet. For those with kids, they do have baby seats. We dined upstairs and found some more quiet comfortable dining space up there.

Had the plaice(fish) which was pretty greasy. We probably ordered the wrong thing because I might try the restaurant again for a sandwich because the selection is really huge.

Great spot. I had the fish soup, which was really delicious. Big chunks of fish and a very good broth.

After arriving in Salzburg, we were absolutely starved and didn’t have the patience to wait and find a sit-down restaurant. Luckily, we came across Nordsee and were able to get quick service, tasty food, and good prices all in one. The restaurant offered many choices of sandwiches, fish, and many other quick fixes. I had a smoked salmon with egg sandwich and my boyfriend had fried fish in bread. Both were good. Of course we topped them off with beer(which was disappointingly warm). This is certainly not a place to make an effort to go to, but if you pass and need a quick meal, it is delicious and will get the job done.

nordsee ist überhaupt nicht zu empfehlen, da es furchtbare Skandale in Salzburg gab, bez. gammel Fisch und bestechung von Hygienekontrollen

we arrived in salzburg at noon and after dropping our stuff off at the hostel, came directly to old town to visit festung hohensalzburg. on the way, while walking down getreidegasse, we decided to stop by mozart geburtshaus. and right next door was nordsee. by then it was about 3pm and we were STARVING. we needed something to eat on the go, and this looked like the best place for take out that didn’t sell just bread or pastries. or those mozart chocolate balls. nordsee is a seafood joint, so pretty much everything they had contained fish or shrimp at the very least. when you walk in, there’s two sides to choose from. on the right side counter, you can order plate-wise food: seafood salad, seafood pasta, etc. on the left side counter, you can order fish sandwiches and other fried foods. there’s a number of raw(or seared) fish sandwiches and dishes, but they didn’t look very fresh to me. so erring on the side of caution, i went with the fried fish fillet sandwich. i believe it was cod or something similar — not really sure cuz i can’t read german. the fish sandwich came with lettuce, tomatoes, and tartar sauce. it was good, but not much more than a fish fillet sandwich at burger king or mcdonalds. but for 2.50 euros, it’s acceptable. of course, buying a bottled drink also cost me 3 euros ugh. not cool.

Reviewed both of these Nordsee restaraunts in Salzburg and I can honestly say: — The Best fast food I have had anywhere. And Im not a fish sort of person. Well I do live in the centre of the uk. The food was very fresh, fragrant and cleaverly put together. loads of flavour and colour Fantastic friendly service and a very very reasonable price. Wish we had this type of restaraunt in England.
