I am a visual person by nature and I had walked past Pierre’s Chicken a few times without bothering to go in purely because their outdated, dull logo and signage did nothing to spark my interest. Fortunately I did go in a week ago and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken is fresh and quite good, they salads are delicious and they have a really good range. Almost everything they have is also cheap enough to be considered as takeaway. The salads are particularly good and look really inciting behind a large glass counter.

As fast food goes, Pierre’s Golden Chicken in Wynnum is healthy and delicious. If the food wasn’t enough of a drawcard, owner ‘Goldie’ is one of the lovliest retailers you could hope to meet. She always has a chat and so it becomes clear as you work your way through a conversation spattered with ‘darlings’ that she is the talented creator of much of the yummy food on display. Apart form roast and country fried chicken, chips and gravy, there are also roast vegetables, peas and pumpkin etc., but the food in the deli-style counter is what first attracted me to the place. there you’ll find homemade zucchine slice, quiche, chickpea and sweet potato slad, caesar salad in a taco shell style crispy basket, luscious sandwiches and rolls, pastas and more. Prices are good and I’ve always found the food to be wonderfully fresh. Worth a look if you’re cruising through Wynnum on your way to the bay for a picnic, as it makes a great change from the fish and chips served up along the Esplanade.
