Vegan options are hard to come by in Australia surprisingly enough. We were really shocked. So finding this little gem was awesome. They had a grocery store with lots of packaged items. Another thing we found out is that packaged vegan food is crazy expensive in Australia. Something like a frozen vegan pizza is about three times more expensive than in America. But it had great options if you were inclined to spend that type of cash. They did have the vegusto vegan cheese which we can’t get here in America for a little cheaper than we bought in Europe so that was a huge plus! They also have a little café that was really good. We only got a smoothie, juice & avocado toast but all were amazingly delicious! The staff was friendly & prompt as well! Also note for out of towners, Australia businesses close for days sometimes weeks around Christmas & New Years time so we were bummed to have only been able to go here once. We would have certainly gone back if they had been open.

I’m a huge fan of the Green Edge — it’s both entirely vegan and entirely fantastic! They have an enormous variety of freshly pressed or squeezed juices, and an extensive breakfast and lunch menu — burgers, salads, «egg» dishes(all tofu scrambles). The first time I visited, I came quite early for Breakfast — luckily for me, they had just opened up and my companion and I were the first ones there. We both had one of the tofu breakfast scrambles, which were delicious. I had so much food on my plate, after eating about a third of it, I requested a take away container(no extra cost!) and took the rest with me. This way, I was able to have the rest for lunch, and then dinner(though I added some fresh vegetables so I hadn’t eaten the same thing all day). The coffee was below average, but I think their focus is on smoothies — so I can’t really blame them. The second time was for lunch — I had a burger. It was quite busy at this stage, but we didn’t have to wait more than 10 – 15 minutes for our orders to be brought out. This time, I had one of the green juices, and it was amazing. I felt invigorated after drinking half! So when my burger came out, I was filled with excitement. I could have easily shared the burger, ’cause it was so big. But it was delicious, so naturally I persevered. In the wise words of Louis CK — «the meal isn’t over when you’re full, it’s over when you hate yourself.» I just tell myself it doesn’t matter that I needed to undo my fly, because it was so incredibly healthy that it was totally okay to over-eat! If it wasn’t so hard to get to(I don’t drive) I would come here much more frequently. (SIDENOTE: the grocery part of it is super expensive, but worth every cent!)

I love this place hardcore. As a vegetarian living in Brisbane — The Green Edge is pretty much my happy place. A café/restuarant/grocery store all in one this place provides us with not only super tasty vegan food and beverages but wide array of organic produce & vegan groceries that has only expanded over the last couple of years. Since discovering it when I moved back to Brissy in 2010 I have maintained that we are hugely fortunate to have a place like this that is thriving. On the café/restaurant side the menu is large and generally quite original, offering some of the tastiest vegan dishes I’ve ever come across. BIG portions. The chefs are great at doing vegan food in a non-traditional, non-boring way — no friggin bland vege lasagne here! Try the meatball sub or a seitan burger — omg the burgers… They’ve recently started doing dinners on Fri & Sat nights so go down and try out the new specials peeps! On the grocery side — the range is extensive and unrivalled in Brisbane. You can find almost anything you need and bar one or two things you could easily do a full shop here. Yes, sometimes the prices are a bit up there for some items. Try to remember that higher priced items are usually the ones they need to import and they sell them as cheap as they can while still covering their costs. I appreciate the effort they go to get in brands and products that are not available anywhere else. ALL products they stock are also from ethical companies(so no Nestle here kids!) and these brands are often a bit pricier, even in mainstream grocery shops. One of the best aspects of The Green Edge is that you can come and have lunch or a snack/coffee and do your grocery shop at the same time. They are usually even happy for you to go around grab your stuff then sit down for nosh then pay for it altogether at the end — or visa versa! This place is responsible for me being able to enjoy the joy of a pizza pocket again since becoming a vegetarian, I can also have smores because they have vegan marshmallows and my last xmas dinner was a Tofukey Roast that was AH-mazing. Basically, I could go on and on about this place but I should probably stop now. It’s awesome. Just go. You’ll feel good about yourself afterwards.

This place is the best thing to happen for vegans in brisbane. The food and drinks menu is amazing, and the range of vegan groceries is awesome. Just wish the grocery items were a little cheaper but nevertheless I’m happy to support a great local business!

Part café, part supermarket, all amazing. I had no idea of this vegan /vegetarian /health food wonderland existed on the north side but here, on busy Wardell Street between a spray tan shop and a church exists a shop where you can find all the faux meats, gluten free, dairy free, vegan cheese, and coconut milk ice-cream you could want. Half the fun of visiting is wandering the small but well stocked aisles to look at what products are there. For example, the toothbrushes made from recycled yoghurt containers I carried home from Wholefoods in the US — stocked here. Plus, the owners have branched out into a humble but delicious café where you can enjoy eats like the mushroom and mango salsa burger(DELICIOUS) or a sweet treat(like chocolate ganache cheesecake — totally vegan) from the cake cabinet. The coffee, Sacred Grounds, is organic fair trade and not like any blend I’ve tasted. Plus for those of us that can’t handle too much lactose, I’m 99% sure my flat white was made on soy or almond milk which gave it an interestingly pleasant taste and yet no after effects of too much milk.

A fantastic place for the vegetarians and the vegans out there. HUGE range of animal friendly foods, fake meats, natural pesticides and cosmetics, vegan cheeses, vegan ice cream and also absolutely fantastic coffee. Also, for those meat eaters out there, one of the few places around where you can buy liquid smoke! So if you’re wanting to perfect your Barbecue, you know where to go.
