We went to the West End Deli this morning with great hopes as it is said to be a popular spot. Sadly, neither my husband or myself found it any special… The menu looked tempting and had some interesting combinations. I opted for a quinoa and black rice Bircher with seasonal fruit, which sounded appealing and healthy but turned out to be more bland than anything. My husband went for the the kransky sandwich. I personally didn’t taste his dish but it smelled very nice and flavorful. But when asked him what he thought of his dish he wasn’t overly optimistic about his experience either. He thought his dish to be tasty but way too greasy and unhealthy for his own good. The staff wasn’t particularly nice or friendly and didn’t really tend to us either. So I must admit I am a bit disappointed by this place. Like I said there are some nice ideas in the dishes but they don’t seem to follow through with taste. The deco is nice, and I liked the uniforms of the staff.

This place rocks! Great food, good service and fantastic atmosphere. The only thing I didn’t like particularly was the corkage fee of $ 10 per bottle! You can buy wine and beer at reasonable prices. Well worth a visit

Warm wooden furniture, staff with gorgeous smiles, upside down chairs with light bulbs and an open kitchen where you can see all the culinary action are some of the key highlights of this neighbourhood café. The wall paints is chipped in many many places. The wall décor is old fashioned with large mirrors, an ugly large red lamp and lots of red flowers. Definitely a contrast to the eye candy in the chef’s hat :-) The menu has a section for just eggs and toast with a range of sides to choose from — all for an affordable 13 bucks. The toast is thick so value for your buck. They also serve the bircher muesli and porridge for the health fanatics. And fresh fruit juices. Baguettes are served from 9am I ordered a mocha which was like eating a block of chocolate infused with orange. Yum. The best I’ve had since koko black. Hmmm. I also had a soft shell crab baguette. Unfortunately it was the most disappointing baguette I’ve had. The lime mayo dressing vaguely reminds me of the oporto sauce. The corn and lettuce just doesn’t suit the soft shell crab. Perhaps sweet chilli lime dressing and tomatoes and red capsicum on the baguette would have made all the difference in the world. I’m no chef but I eat enough. The three stars are for the sad looking and expensive 19 baguette. Their coffee is Vittoria.

Coffees here are excellent, the barista is excellent! He’s quick, friendly and easy on the eye. Their brownies are a must if getting a take away coffee. Lunch menu is great and staff are attentive, know the menu and there to assist and are a pleasure to dine with.

This was my third visit to this place and it delivers each time. This one was a lazy Sunday brunch. There was too much on the menu that I would have liked to try, but settled with the squid and chorizo, it was beaut! The other half had the eggs and beef tongue which was also delicious. Will certainly recommend this place for brekkie, lunch and dinner!

This little gem is one of my friend’s and my favourite places for hump day lunch. I LOVE their poached chicken salad — it really is the only way that chicken should be served. They also have an incredible watermelon and strawberry juice that even my male friend is prepared to drink and look like a girl for. I would love to give this place 5 stars but I don’t like being rushed to eat my food. The staff can linger a little too closely to clear your plates and glasses away. I have episodes of Californication that I want to catch up on too guys, but calm the farm and let me put my fork down.

Have had a few coffees from West End Deli which have all been undrinkable. I hoped the first one I ordered was just a one off bad one but I have ordered a few since as it is on my way to work and unfortunately every one has been extremely bitter and burnt. Paying $ 4.30 for a coffee that is undrinkable is unacceptable and I hope West End Deli looks into training their barristers properly.

I hadn’t been here before, didn’t know where it was and didn’t know what to expect. I loved the relaxed feel and the brekky was A M A Z I N G. If I was a local, I’d hack in(North Korea style) and remove all mention of it from the interwebs, remove all signage and block the roads off. But you won’t stop me…

West end deli never disappoints! I’ve been here for breaky, lunch and dinner and have been blown away each time. WED is run by a husband wife duo. West end deli is BYO and has a liquor licence. I went there yesterday and enjoyed a big lazy Sunday lunch. Firstly we were able to bring our dog which is a bonus because who wants to leave their dog at home! There were no tables available outside as all were taken but the amazing waiter made up a table for us within seconds! Very impressed and our dog got lots of attention from all the staff! As did we: P firstly I ordered a west end specialty iced tea with star anise and cinnamon it was refreshing and had subtle highlights of both cinnamon and star anise which was spot on. We then shared hand cut chips, beautiful fresh baked baguette with freshly churned butter mmmm, slow cooked lamb ribs with a zucchini mint and chilli side salad and west ends tongue in cheek which was shaved tongue with fried gooey egg and a beef cheek croquette. The lamb ribs were amazing falling off the bone, served with chimmicuri sauce good for sharing as u get so many ribs! The chips were spot on as was the baguette and the tongue in cheek was absolutely delicious! Finished off with coffees, custard tart and a brownie all were fab! Look forward to coming back here! The dog was very content with the left over lamb rib bones that’s for sure!

This small yet ever so busy café is definitely a hit to everyone who loves a good brekkie/branch to start the weekend. Sitting can be tricky if you go in a group but it is worth the wait. Scramble eggs are so fluffy and the coffee is simply amazing. Food portions are not the biggest but for what you are paying, the food gives you warm fuzzy feeling all the time! Great venue, great coffee, and great choice of meals.

West End Deli is a fantastic restaurant. Love their breakfast and also find of their Thursday night dinners. I must admit I find it better to go mid-week for breakfast as I don’t like the slow service on weekends.

Low lights. Warm interior. Great ambiance. And a neighbourhood vibe. West End Deli is intimate, sweet and an unsuspectingly blend of modern and rustic on the inside. We stopped by for dinner one night and enjoyed a gorgeous amuse bouche of jerusalem artichoke soup before our meals of ricotta gnocchi, pork neck and barramundi come out. It’s a place that feels somewhere between homely and fine dining, with so much character.

Dropped into the West End Deli after I made a Whoopsy in following directions to a café in Hay street. Oh Well can’t complain. This is a great place for my breakfast after a small training session in Kings Park. Great feel to this establishment. It’s interior reminds me of a scene out of Robert Downey Jnr’s Sherlock Holmes. Very early 19th century with grey and black painted walls with slapped on brush strokes. With chairs hanging from the ceiling and cake covers turned into light shades and odd shape mirrors beside empty picture frames on the walls, very unusual. The service is very friendly, welcoming and prompt, as soon as I walked in shown a table and asked for my preference of coffee. Flat White Please. My breakfast was very tasty. I had poached eggs on GF bread with a mushroom terrine and avocado. Beautiful. I first came to this place for a afternoon coffee and I will be coming here again.

Off the beaten track in a a suburban street, perfect coffee, incredible food, what more could you want? This place really is a step above. I was blown away how delicate the flavours were in the dinner menu, and the brunch menu is easily one of the best in Perth. For the sweet tooth — the home made giant crumpet with vanilla honey, honeycomb and honey ice cream is off the hook. Go there now, a real find…

Yum yum yum!!! This place is amazing! The food is absolute heaven and I’m still daydreaming about how yummy it was. A friend and I popped in for breakfast around 10am on a Sunday — warning! it was so busy we had to wait a bit to get seated. Service was very friendly but be prepared for them to be running about to meet the needs of everyone. We had to wait a bit for a few things but on the whole with how busy it was I understand it can be quite tricky. I had 2 fried eggs on toast with a side of blackbeans and a cheese and corn croquette. The taste was out of this world and we couldn’t finish it all. Croquette was crispy and crunchy without being unhealthy. Beans were flavourful and a juicy size. Eggs were perfect! A bit on the pricey side for the eggs and sides it ended up costing $ 25.50 but for a special occasion it is worth it. You will not leave unhappy and your belly will thank you. Pity about the busyness and price otherwise I loved it!

Soft ambient lit room with invitingly modern yet vintage décor. Wonderful staff, fresh produce. They cater for vegans of you call ahead but don’t just rock up and expect it as it might cause disappointment. I had the roasted cauliflower with dark chocolate chilli, hazelnut, bresaola, mushroom, kale for entrée. It was to die for! Bitter sweet flavours or chocolate, candied hazelnuts and cauliflower married with the salty yet delicate flavour of the bresaola was a match made in heaven. My sisters had the gnocchi which was pan fried, with a sweet pumpkin sauce, cheese and cashews and was equally delicious. The main was out of this world, melt in your mouth, perfectly cooked medium rare lamb rump teamed with a Argentinian chimichuri lamb rib that I can tell was marinated for hours. The lamb was dotted with a lovely salsa Verde. The paper thin zucchini, mint and radish salad stack was fresh and fragrant. There is honestly nothing I could fault. To top it off they gave us a complimentary basket of freshly baked bread, a beautiful barramundi potato topped crisp bread(and a vegan option) as an appetiser and a hazelnut brownie surprise to the birthday girl. The menu said corkage was $ 2.50 but there was a price change to $ 3.50pp on the bill. This was only one small change that needed to be made. @ $ 43.50/ person with 2 courses and corkage, it is Perth dining at its best!

My abode is just a short stroll from the West End Deli, so I’m a bit of a regular, whether it be for an evening meal, a sit-down breakfast or just a takeaway coffee. The food here is always great, I honestly cannot recall ever getting a less-than-fantastic meal. The highlights are the salmon miso soup on the breakfast menu — a robust and hearty breakfast with a refined taste — and the staple bacon and eggs. The bacon is from Elmar’s, and is generously thick and always cooked to perfection, while the eggs are always perfectly poached. Another favourite breakfast item is the tortilla, which is shredded beef, corn and other mexican goodies served on a fresh tortilla. This is a wonderfully balanced dish and is unusual but refined. In fact, unusual but refined is a great way to describe their whole menu. The coffee is less consistent — depending on the barista. It is never terrible, but occasionally falls a bit short of the mark. They do seem to struggle with the non-standard brews, with the affogato in particular being subject to seemingly seasonal variations. Sometimes it comes out in a nice glass, other times a coffee cup. The ratio of ice-cream to expresso is also inconsistent. The only thing holding me back from giving it a 5 star rating is the service. It is inconsistent and even occasionally rude. I don’t think it is intentional, but in the hospitality industry people skills are paramount, and unfortunately I don’t think the regular waiters really possess any of note. The venue itself is charming, with a curious arrangement of chairs and tangled cords acting as the main light fitting, with rendered and peeling walls giving a nice homely feel to the building. I particularly like the few odds and ends from the building’s old days as an apothecary that are placed on the east-facing window. Overall, I would recommend the West End Deli, but anyone going here needs to be prepared to not receive the friendliest reception.

Cute little café by day, sophisticated restaurant by night. A limited yet varied menu, dimly lit dining room and open kitchen welcomed us at West End Deli. Four options for appetizers(prices vary), entrée($ 19) and main($ 38). For entrée I decided on the ricotta gnocchi with artichoke and candied olives. The little pillows of gnocchi were perfect — light and tender. A good sized entrée. For main I went for the barramundi with confit tomatoes, potato and prawns. The«prawns» was actually a little sausage of prawn which was super cute but it was handed over to a friend who is a bigger fan of shellfish than me. The barra was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the confit tomatoes were bursting with flavour. For dessert we ordered one of everything and shared(prices approx $ 15 each). The desserts were definitely the highlight. The chocolate tart with orange and cardamom was fantastic but possibly beaten by the«milk, bananas & honey» which appeared to be a stack of caramelised bananas atop a rubble of gingerbread accompanied by a generous serving of vanilla(or possibly subtle honey) parfait. Other desserts included a potted cheesecake which came with an adorable tube of salted dulce de leche and something with pistachios(the name escapes me). Everyone enjoyed everything. Two enthusiastic thumbs up from the table. West End is BYO.

West End Deli, like Lincolns 102 and Coode Street Café are suburban retreats away from the main drag, that I love. This hidden gem is the go to place for breakfast and brunch. It offers exciting food that is worth the high-ish price. I went here for breakfast and was pleasantly surprised to have home-made plum and fig jam on 3 slices of fruit toast($ 8). The fruit toast was a bit disappointed, compared to the New Norcia Fruit Toast, without chunky bits of fruit throughout the toast. My friends had the poached plums on thick pinenut toast with honey ricotta($ 11) — yum! The quinoa bircher muesli also caught my eye with passionfruit and blueberries($ 12). I am super keen to try the poached plums next time. It’s the perfect weather transitional brunch meal, summery autumn– sweet with the honey ricotta balanced with the tart of the plums. Located to the left of the door is a selection of mouth watering looking cakes, that made me clap my hands in delight. I plan to return for the cute mini salted caramel tarts and a large slice of the gluten free chocolate raspberry and coconut cake! I’m never disappointed with the quality and range of food on offer and there is always a park for me.
