Jim’s is close to home and the cheapest bottle-o for miles. And Jim’s is a very good grog shop. There is a huge range of wine, beer and spirits. Jim’s is very very good value. Quite often cheaper than Dan Murphy and they are good guys, except that they sometimes make their Mum look after the shop. They stock stuff you can’t get elsewhere like Petersons Chardonnay and Scarborough White Label. There is a good range of aged wine and a comprehensive beer fridge. It was one of the first places in Sydney to stock Little Creatures Pale Ale and thus I have been going back with an unhealthy regularity. Cynthia and Mark’s reviews are spot on and I intend to keep supporting Jim’s even if it kills me.

I’ve been a fan of Jim’s for awhile now. Unfortunately, we live on opposite sides of the city, so I’ve only made it in store once, but I make my local Dan’s price beat them frequently enough. Not something I really enjoy doing as if its more than 10% they have to call the manager and last time that happened I was made to feel pretty poor. «You’re lucky I just got back from holiday, you could get away with just about anything today.» I couldn’t be bothered pointing out I wasn’t «getting away» with anything by holding them to their highly publicized policy. I just took my discounted Hoegaarden and left. I also don’t like having the big guy price beat the little guy as it takes business away from the little guy, and if the little guy goes under, who will be left to price beat? Jim’s offers pretty reasonable shipping rates($ 6/case for Sydney Metro). Anyway, when I found myself planning a trip north I had to include a detour to Jim’s. Not only did I grab a case of Hoegaarden for the price I always make Dan’s beat, I picked up a few brews from their awesome craft and imported beer selection and 1L of Grey Goose for«the lowest price in Australia». At least that’s what the sign said. And it was a really good price. Cheaper than Dan’s. Besides, signs don’t lie.

Big old barn of booze that is like going to liquid heaven. Large range of hard to get wines, spirits & beers including most importantly to me Stiegl & Stiegl Spezial. Prices range from the bargain to the eye watering depending on your taste & pocket depth but for the most part pretty reasonable for what you’re getting. P. S. They won’t do your lawn, wash your car, windows, dogs, kill your bugs or any of the other things the floppy hatted bearded fellow does they’re not that Jim’s.
