Greater Union Morley

Let me preface this review by saying that I don’t like great big megaplexes (not that Greater Union Morley technically counts as one as it’s only got eight screens, but that’s still pretty big compared to what I’m used to) and am more of an arthouse/​independent film-​in-​a-​funky-​place-​with-​character kinda gal. However, I do have a huge weakness for superheroes and big action/​adventure flicks, so when I’m in need of braincandy, I often end up at Greater Union Morley.
On the plus side, there is stacks of parking and a bus station out the front of Galleria, so it is easy to get to. The 950 bus to the city runs frequently and until very late at night. It’s right next to the Galleria food court, so it’s easy enough to grab a bite to eat before or after the movie. There are regular sessions of blockbusters. The screens are pretty big, and the quality of sound and visuals is good. You can purchase tickets online, and the seats are quite comfy. If you have to kill some time beforehand, you can go shopping (for just about anything). Hey, you can even do the grocery shopping before you head home as there are supermarkets just downstairs. Being in Galleria is pretty convenient.
On the downside, being in Galleria is my idea of hell! I hate shopping malls even more than megaplexes. Galleria is usually crowded, noisy and filled with screaming kids and fed-​up adults. The foyer of Greater Union itself is particularly noisy being next to a game arcade, and it looks like a cave because it’s a bit dark. Finally, the toilets suck.
To sum up, once my butt is on a seat, it’s a great place to watch a movie. Before and after that, it’s a little bit painful.

Saw The Martian here, a/​c didn’t work which we didn’t find out till we went out and asked because it was hot (response was if you walk out in half an HR you can have a refund #theydontcare). Also I had $ 30 voucher I was given without a days on it and because I live in the country and have 2 kids under 3 I don’t get to the movies often, it must of expired or so they say cos it did not have date written on it, so no voucher and the get $ 30 for free.
On the positives cinema was clean and the chairs in good repair

we got a group together the attend the last ‘chicks at the flicks’ (CATF)
and it was really well done.
I had attended the Hoyts version a week or so prior, so it was good to be able to compare the two. CATF was well set up, they had stalls and champagne and cocktail foods and door prizes and I was quite impressed. I wasn’t impressed with the prices of the stalls or the champagne fee, a little too pricey for my liking. however in saying that, it was a lot more than hoyts offered.
The goody bag was really great and full of different little things.

the seating… well that could use some updating. the seats were small and imposing, god forbid someone having to go to the bathroom during the movie, because well… there was no room to move out quietly.
It was a good night out, I would definitely go again, but perhaps to one of their other cinemas.

Checked out on line times to view a movie and coincide with some post Xmas shopping. Big disappointment to find the theatre was closed and no notice of this on there website ! There A/​C had broken down on the Monday and still was not fixed on the Thursday? No screening at all.
Wow lots of people left wondering, and me included.

‘Chicks At The Flicks’ ladies is definitely a must!!!
$ 25 will get you nibblies and champagne, chance to win some raffles, a showbag and a movie! It’s well worth the money and you get to catch up with your friends before the movie starts.
The food, champagne and little market stalls open at 6pm. Tonight we had salad and meat wraps, cheese and bickies and cold meat and salad. There were also cup cakes available for a donation to a charity. The stalls were Enjo, Arbonne, jewellery, tarot cards and personal training. The persoanl training stall also had some free treats to sample.
I really enjoyed the movie which was Delivery Man with Vince Vaughn. Movie starts at 7pm right after the raffles are drawn.
It’s so exciting going through the showbag!

Sadly, this cinema is seriously outdated and in need of an overhaul.
The toilets are always disgusting and the foyer is very uninspiring. If you don’t care about those aspects, then it’s probably fine for a suburban movie experience.
I like that your seats are pre-​selected when you book online, but all too often someone else is sitting in your seat. Hardly the cinema’s fault, but be prepared to deal with objectionable patrons.

punters, punters, punters… i love the Events Cinema ad that says buy your tickets on line and jump the queue. I love walking down the carpet past the great unwashed in the public lane (forgive me). this happens efficiently at Innaloo. We decided to watch the latest instalment of Batman (superb) but at Morley. I did the on-​line purchase. We turn up and there’s no service at the box office but rather at the candy bar where there’s a dirty great long line. we eventually work through the line to the front. i ask the question of «why did i waste my time paying on line only to waste more time lining up? the server blandly looks at me, mutters agreement and proceeds to complete my transaction /​order. where’s the customer service. other than that the cinema, pop corn and syrup lemonade were fine. apologies in advance for having a rant.

Pick and Mix. That’s all I need to say. If you’re anything like me you are racing in your car to get to Great Union Morley by now. You probably haven’t stopped at any red lights, either.
The Pick and Mix selection is great and it’s probably the best $ 35 you’ll ever spend on lollies. But that’s all part of the fun, right? You don’t go to the movies to save on groceries. You go to splurge on fun. I even enjoy paying four or five bucks for a Mount Franklin water at the movies. It’s like gold water. Clean and crisp and infused with movie exorbitance and oodles of fun. Paying that much for water puts me in a really good mood cos I know I must be somewhere special.
I also like the size of Greater Union Morley, not too small and not too big. It’s just like a certain famous breakfast cereal. There’s a nice ambience here and the staff are always really friendly.
Come on a Friday or Saturday night and stop at Han’s Café for dinner. That way you can laugh about how your Pick and Mix cost more than your meal.

To tell you the truth when you step inside Greater Union Morley, you feel like you could have stepped into any other cinema in Perth. There is really nothing to distinguish it from other cinemas. You have that waft of popcorn as you walk within 10 metres of the place, you are greeted with an assortment of flashing, beeping game consoles and of course the large selection of pick and mix begging to be bought.
However this last time we went there, the customer service was exceptional. There was a problem with our tickets– I wont go into the details as it makes my mate look like a right Muppet. However they are really helpful and helped us out of a pickle, we thought we would be going home without seeing a movie at one stage, but the staff sorted it out so we could see our movie — and all we missed was the trailers. No thanks to my dopey mate.

Located in a Westfield shopping complex, Greater Union cinema is the quintessential flick provider for shoppers and movie-​lovers alike. I’ve been frequenting this cinema for, God do I want to share, a good 10 years. It’s very clean, large screens regardless of it being fairly small in comparison to other Greater Union’s, heaps of yummy snacks, and the latest movies off course. All you need is a date, but I’m pretty sure they can’t help you with that…
